Today September 18th marks the 50th anniversary of the release of a total CLASSIC. On September 18th, 1970 the almighty BLACK SABBATH released their second album, "Paranoid". Full of the classics that created the foundations for metal music: "Paranoid", "War Pigs", "Iron Man", "Electric Funeral", "Hand of Doom", among others. Many great albums followed but "Paranoid" is the one that set the band apart from the rest of the band`s of that era.

SAINTS OF DEATH RELEASE LYRIC VIDEO FOR "WATCHING ME DIE"

PRESS RELEASE:

Unleashing their new album “Ascend To The Throne” this past July via Head Rattle Productions INC., Vancouver's Saints of Death are sharing with fans their new lyric video for the track "Watching Me Die" (Check below). The song is about the destruction of the Earth by corporate greed.

"Watching You, Me, humanity, and Mother Earth die to the hands of unjust corporations and tyrannical governments." adds the band.

For fans of Pantera, DevilDriver, and Arch Enemy, you can check out Saints of Death's new lyric video with its double bassist assault.

Saints of Death's new album “Ascend To The Throne” is a 7 track ripping and cohesive released and the second in the Saints of Death repertoire following the 2015 self-titled EP. With a different lineup than the debut effort, Saints of Death now boasts a more robust group that is tighter, more aggressive, and more melodic than ever before along with still featuring their signature sound of having two bassists.

The band comments:

"This album has been a long time coming, and we look forward to getting it into the ears of our fans, new and old alike. After dealing with line up issues for a few years, we finally have a solid line up and are back to kicking ass. The current line up has been together since 2018 and we have really gelled as friends and as band members. Naturally, with this kind of chemistry going on, it was finally time to record a new album.

Like the first EP, there is diversity between each song, allowing each of them to stand out as hard-hitting singles. There is also the consistency that allows the songs to come together as a great album. We talk about important topics such as the trials of society, corruption and corporate greed, mental health as well as a few other topics on this album. Saints put a lot of hard work and passion crafting this album and making it what it is and we're excited to share it with the world!"

"Ascend To The Throne" is available on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music.

DRACONIAN RELEASE "MOON OVER SABAOTH" SINGLE AND LYRIC VIDEO

PRESS RELEASE:

Today, DRACONIAN, the sovereigns of melancholic Gothic Doom Metal and far-reaching lyrics, release their fourth single, "Moon Over Sabaoth", cut from their upcoming studio album, Under A Godless Veil, out October 30, 2020 via Napalm Records. CHeck the lyric video below these lines.

The seventh full-length of the Swedish five-piece and second one with talented Heike Langhans on vocal duties, appears exactly five years after DRACONIAN’s latest album, Sovran, and guarantees a complete immersion into the band’s essence. Starting off with a soft guitar intro, DRACONIAN's new single "Moon Over Sabaoth" soon breaks off into Anders Jacobsson’s ghastly growls paired with a stomping doomy rhythm. Complemented by Heike's angelic voice, the vocals will touch deep inside your soul and interweave with stunning melodies and bone-crushing riffs. An artful conceptualized lyric video underlines these atmospheric tunes of melancholic beauty.

Lead guitarist and main composer Johan Ericson comments:

"Moon Over Sabaoth is a perspective song that crawls in towards its end destination.  Monotone doom riffing accompanied by some heavy drums. Together with Anders harsh, desperate vocals leading up to an almost anthemic chorus. We stand tall..."

Under a Godless Veil delivers a captivating mélange of dreary doom and contrasting vocals. The first notes of the opener will immediately draw the listener into a void of interweaving beauty, coalescing with paralyzing depression that leaves nothing but the desire of total immersion in the whole record. Under a Godless Veil carries the legacy of gothic doom metal à la My Dying Bride into a new decade of the genre.

DRACONIAN states: “To DRACONIAN, Under a Godless Veil is by far the most diverse album we have created. Inspired by some of the music closest to Johan’s heart; everything from traditional Doom to scaled-down, Gothic rock-inspired pieces and more. Some will perhaps describe the songs as more refined and meditative. Some ambient elements have been added to the mix without overshadowing the traditional characteristics that are DRACONIAN.

Resonating with the compositions, Anders’s lyrical direction is ambiguous and a progression of the first two-three albums, yet more subtle while embracing the Gnostic philosophy more directly. One could say Under a Godless Veil is an act of contemplation; About living and dying and remembering who we are in a strange, abrasive world far from home.“

Under A Godless Veil tracklist:

1. Sorrow of Sophia

2. The Sacrificial Flame

3. Lustrous Heart

4. Sleepwalkers

5. Moon Over Sabaoth

6. Burial Fields

SULPHUR SUN TO RELEASE "PLACODERMIC HERALDRY" EP

PRESS RELEASE:

SULPHUR SUN

Placodermic Heraldry

(Self-Released)

30 October 2020

On October 30th, Bern, Switzerland-based dissonant/progressive death metal unit Sulphur Sun will release their upcoming EP, Placodermic Heraldry. It is the follow up to the group's 2017 standalone single "Vitreous" and 2013 debut EP, Bioluminescence.

Arguably ahead of the pack when it came to their uniquely aggressive, dark, and atmospheric-tinged sound within the progressive death metal scene on 2013's Bioluminescence EP, the band's return on Placodermic Heraldry marks a new artistic high point for the group that will carry forward into their developing full-length set for release in the next year or two.

After 2017's Vitreous single, the group's guitarist went off to university causing this material to be in a state of flux. Luckily, ex-Nile guitarist Dallas Toler-Wade was tapped to record all the guitars and breathe deadly life into the killer compositions on Placodermic Heraldry. The stunning cover art for Placodermic Heraldry was created by Nils Mosimann and legendary music engineer Neil Kernon (Nile, Cannibal Corpse, Akercocke, Nevermore, etc.) was once again tapped to give the music the best possible production.

Diving deep thematically into the times before humankind, Placodermic Heraldry posits a question of how much the existence of a species matters as oblivion seems inevitable. Even for apex predators. The release is highly recommended for bands the group cites as influences including Annihilation of the Wicked-era Nile, Origin, Enslaved, Bolt Thrower, Pyrrhon, Artificial Brain, Intronaut, Woven Hand, and Eternal Champion.

Sulphur Sun statement regarding Placodermic Heraldry

"Placodermic Heraldry heralds the return of Sulphur Sun and is the direct successor to Vitreous. Two songs of bone-crushing progressive and weird death metal. The Temple of Dunkleosteus provides a short and unrelenting onslaught of placodermic annihilation, while Trilobite Thief meanders in chaotic and mesmerizing melodies towards utter oblivion. Thematically it provides escapism into a fairytale of armored fish and pelagic chaos."

Placodermic Heraldry Line-Up:

Marc Wachtfels Sulaiman - Vocals, Throatsinging, Ambient sounds

Dallas-Toller Wade - Guitar (Narcotic Wasteland, ex-Nile)

Gregor Philipp Kovats - Bass

S.U. - Drums
