THESE DAY, BUT IN 1988: SACRED REICH RELEASE "SURF NICARAGUA"

 

On October 4th, 1988, thrash metal masters SACRED REICH released their classic EP "Surf Nicaragua". This EP, really made some killer noise at the time. The band had only released at the time their debut album, "Ignorance", from 1987, and the EP showed good avances in sound and prepared the path to their classic album "The American Way" that would be released in 1990.  The EP featured four tracks, including the title one and a cover of Black Sabbath´s "War Pigs", plus two live tunes, "Ignorance" and "Death Squad". The EP was released through Metal Blade Records. Below are a couple of the tunes in this classic EP:

 

 

ORION RELEASE "MYSTERIVM COSMOGRAPHICUM"

Orion was born in 2002 in San Javier, Chile, with the idea of making an old school death/thrash metal in the vein of Possessed, Slayer, Pestilence, Pentagram (Chile) and the old Sepultura. The band has a promo called "Pulverizing Skulls" composed of 2 rehearsal songs and 6 live tracks. After that, a Demo called "The Seven Gates are Opened..." is released, which consists of 6 songs. The band is currently conformed by Pacto and Toku Gerard on guitars, D. L. Mayhem on bass and vocals, and A. Destructor on drums, and is about to release its first full-length album, entitled "Mysterium Cosmographicum."

A DAY IN VENICE RELEASE VIDEO FOR "OPHIDIAN QUEEN"

 

PRESS RELEASE:

A DAY IN VENICE (aka Andrej Kralj) has just released a lyrics video for the new song "Ophidian Queen". The song represents a new sonic exploration featuring a novel use of shamanic percussions and dissonating brass arrangements. Lyrically, it merges images and themes such as passionate love, spirituality, consciousness and mind. Written and produced by Andrej entirely in his home studio on the Karst plateau it features Angelos Kyprianos on vocals.

ANAMA RELEASE VIDEO FOR "DAME OF DEATH"

ANAMA: Assassin returns even more perverse and cruel, in new Lyric Video!

And she is back! The wicked murderer is back and even more cruel! After the success of the song "Dame of Red", (from AnamA's first album, self titled and released in 2018), which tells the story of a Spanish murderer who wears red, the band brings back the murderer, she returns even more thirsty for blood and revenge, now dressed in black.

"Dame of Death" is the fourth single from the EP "Tales of Doubt and Death", and features a beautiful Lyric Video. In the video the band appears interpreting the music in a masterly way and the castanets return, giving a special touch to the music. Also noteworthy is the vocalist Babi Bueno, who in the video plays the "Lady of Death".

About the character, Babi Bueno comments: "Dame is certainly our favorite character. Precisely for this reason she reappeared, it was one of the most successful songs on our first CD and therefore deserved a continuation of its history. The most incredible thing is the contradiction between the melody, beautiful, with the dark lyrics. Isn't that so in real life? Can we identify a murderer just by looking?"

The video was produced and edited by Caio Garibaldi, the guitarist for the band AnamA and the images were taken at Black Saga studios by Michel Villares, from M&H Studio. Michel was also responsible for mixing and mastering this and the other songs that will be present on the EP "Tales of Doubt and Death".

OVERTHRUST RELEASE NEW SINGLE: "DEMON GRAVE"

"Demon Grave" is the pummeling new single by Botswana death metal shredders Overthrust, recorded at Milestone Studios in Cape Town during their recent South African tour.  This band serves up blistering old school death metal tales of dirty deeds done under the dark cover of moonless nights.... 

Vulture comments, "'Demon Grave' was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Jethro Harris. It's worth mentioning that Overthrust first introduced themselves with their band names -- which all include "Thrust" as the last name.  Jethro then said, 'Well then, I will be Deadly Thrust!!' That was the funniest brutal moment of the recording, and since then Deadly Thrust became an interesting and suitable nickname for Jethro. The artwork was created by Luke Stroebel, who also designed for Metal4Africa where we performed at during our gig at South Africa's Summerfest 2020, so he was a logical fit for designing our cover."

Overthrust will also be featured on MMD Black Diaries Vol. 1 by MMD Records coming out on October 7th.  The "Demon Grave" single is available now to violate your sonic senses -- get ready to be buried alive!

SARCOPTES STREAM "LA MORIA GRANDISSIMA"

 

Sacramento, California black metal band SARCOPTES are streaming the tune "La Moria Giandissima" in the Transcending Obscurity YouTube channel (check below). The tune is part of the band´s latest release, the "Plague Hymns" EP that was released on October 2nd through Transcending Obscurity Records. 

Following on the heels of the highly acclaimed debut full length album that showcased SARCOPTES' ingenuity of blending thrash and death metal influences effortlessly in an epic black metal template, on this new EP they take things up a notch and exhibit renewed passion and flair further cementing their unique yet highly enjoyable sound. The two songs here are terrific examples of brilliant songwriting that weaves together myriad elements without losing cohesion or continuity. The result is absolutely thrilling and rivetting; the songs don't seem to overstay their welcome despite being long and continue their epic and intense onslaught without ever waning. This EP serves as a perfect precursor to the upcoming full length album that is in the works. If this is anything to go by, the future of US black metal is in safe hands.
