VARMIA SIGNS WITH M-THEORY AUDIO FOR RELEASE OF "BAL LADA"

PRESS RELEASE:

The Polish pagan black metal group VARMIA – who pay tribute to their Baltic roots by combining black metal sounds with traditional instruments such as the goat horn and the tagelharpa - has signed with M-Theory Audio. The band's third album, “bal Lada,” will be released in Spring 2021. An early taste of the spirits soon to be summoned can be seen in this video showcasing the making of the album: https://youtu.be/o9DnynINIo8

VARMIA was formed in 2016 by vocalist/guitarist/composer Lasota with a mission of fusing black metal with musical influences that pay tribute to the ancient Baltic tribes of the historical Warmia region of northern Poland. On vocal duties, Varmia emits harsh growls that shroud the band's music and native Polish lyrics in a visceral aura, the only breaks from this vocal assault occurring when using the traditional, ancient technique of “whitevoice” clean singing as utilized during ancient East-Central European rituals, rites of passage and festivals. Meanwhile, the power of the band's metal influences are enhanced on “bal Lada” by traditional ethnic instrumentation of the Baltic Rites via sounds of tagelharpa, goat horn, wood tuba and krivula. The final result is a compelling mix of dark metallic sounds that channel the spirit of early Enslaved, Satyricon, and Wolves in the Throne Room and folk elements that drive acts such as Wardruna.

VARMIA has released two albums to date – 2017's “Z mar twych” and 2018's “W ciele nie”. The group records all of their music in culturally significant remote locations throughout their native Poland, and “bal Lada” continues that practice, as the 11 tracks of ominous and atmospheric pagan black metal contained within were recorded in a makeshift studio set up by the band in an old 19th-century manor in Northern Poland, where they recorded while playing together as a live unit with no sound editing.

With the forthcoming release of “bal Lada,” M-Theory Audio is set to spread the band's native sounds to a worldwide audience. Says Lasota, “With two releases so far, VARMIA has shouted out the voice of our land mainly on the Polish soil – the voice of disquiet, passion and agitation. It is now time to hear it echo throughout the whole world. VARMIA still has many stories to tell, and we are very excited to work with such well-respected people from overseas. We have many spirits yet to summon.”

More information on VARMIA and the upcoming release of “bal Lada” will be unveiled by M-Theory Audio in the weeks to come, and by VARMIA at www.facebook.com/varmiaband.

VARMIA is:

Lasota - guitars, vocals

Alle - bass, backing vocals

SaviorSkin return to HPGD with the new album Omnipotence Of The Absolute! Hailing from Houston Texas, SaviorSkin formed in 2018 and perform Industrialized Gothic Doom/Death Metal. Omnipotence Of The Absolute showcase eight morose hymns, each one a hateful mirror thrust into the faces of the indoctrinated. SaviorSkin take influence from Post-Punk Goth to the Death and Doom Metal of yore, along with industrialized pulsing machine rhythms and catchy sensibilities that most underground metal fear to tread.

SaviorSkin hover around the depths of doom, underneath it all the perfect machination of organized chaotic noises...experience the heaviness of one's dark night, without the pain. Treacherous melodies imply a sense of light and salvation, but these are empty promises: the cold, relentless machinery that serves as the heart of this recording exist only to crush both idols and hope. HYPERVOLUME RELEASE "CONCEIVE"

PRESS RELEASE:

Hypervolume

Conceive

Self released

4 December 2020

Chicago heavy duo HYPERVOLUME is excited to release their debut album CONCEIVE on December 4th, 2020.

A relatively new act, HYPERVOLUME is an audio experiment conducted by two humans whose talents have been forged in the crucibles of Chicago’s heavy music scene. These expert alchemists blend doom, death, and thrash metal with elements of psychedelia and punk to create a uniquely intense experience. A. HUMAN provides guttural vocalizations and utilizes a dizzying variety of guitars, amplifiers, and effects to create a barrage of riffs that are fueled by the percussive onslaught of Chicago’s most prolific drummer, the fabulous FABIAN A.

The duo established HYPERVOLUME in 2018, played a few gigs in 2019 and 2020, and have just finished their first as-of-yet unreleased album CONCEIVE, nine tracks of pure metal bliss with artwork designed and etched in brass by JANNA WEDDLE of BEZEL AND THREAD. "ORBIT," the second track on the album, is featured on ANGRY PEASANTS: VOLUME NINE, a compilation of local bands from Chicago and beyond!

A music video for "ORBIT" has also been produced and is scheduled for release in October 2020. HYPEVOLUME is currently seeking a label to call home.

KING OV WYRMS STREAMS DEBUT ALBUM "LORD OV THORNES"

PRESS RELEASE:

King Ov Wyrms comes from the vision of Michael Sanchez (Pain Patterns, ex-Judicator) out of Tucson, Arizona. The project was formed in 2015 when Sanchez was intrigued to explore his more aggressive side of metal. He loves the music he's been creating with his main band Pain Patterns, but felt it was time to act on his inner urges to fulfill his desire for a purely aggressive musical venture.

The project went through various lineup changes only to be consistently held together by Sanchez, which lead him to completely write and record all of the songs as a full lineup along with the vocals. Having studied classical music and jazz to a degree while growing up, these gave him the tools to write comfortably on his own even in the concept of metal music. The end result, five years in the making is debut full length "Lord Ov Thornes". Featuring lyrical themes encompassing the occult and a deep love for Lovecraftian horror, the record is an abusive assault of aggressive music with elements of old school death intertwined with black metal set to be unleashed on November 20th.

Before the eight tracks are unshackled, Lambgoat is hosting the debut album's full stream premiere HERE: https://lambgoat.com/bits/14756/KING-OV-WYRMS-Stream-Debut-Album

Band founder Sanchez adds:

"King Ov Wyrms is such a massive grim beast of Blackened Death metal that I’ve been dying to bring forth to the world for years, to finally see this project come together even if it's just being held together by myself at this point is just beyond fulfilling. Everything about this band has been just more or less a mere rumor amongst the southwestern metal scene until now, so many people would stop me at Pain Patterns and even Judicator shows and would ask me about this “new death metal project” I’ve been working on and such, but now I can finally present it on a grand scale and not just some burner CDs like I’ve done in the past of these scraped demos.

Lord Ov Thornes is an album that to me, attempts to bridge a gap between the earliest forms of death and black to a more modern approach of metal production, almost like taking Morbid Angel’s “Formulas Fatal To The Flesh” and mashing it with Sulphur Aeons “Gateway To The Antisphere”. These brutal compositions that have been in the works for several years are finally ready to surface from their grim depths and inspire a new wave of death metallers."

Recommended for fans of Enthroned, Vader, and Dark Funeral, King Ov Wyrms will no doubt intrigue metal fans around the world with this debut, which will be available for download and stream on Kingovwyrms.bandcamp.com and Spotify as of November 20th.

HADAL RELEASE "DECEMBER"

PRESS RELEASE:

Band: Hadal

Album: December

Country: Italy

Genre: Gothic Doom Metal

Label: Planet K Records

Release date: December 5th, 2020

Hadal | Trieste | Italy

Gothic Doom Metal

Influences: Paradise Lost | Moonspell | Tiamat | My Dying Bride

The Hadal project was born in the end of 2009 from the ashes of So Cold, in a depressive Italian town named Trieste. While the former band was mainly inspired by the Finnish gothic metal movement, the new ensemble tried to find a more personal view in the extreme musical landscape. At the beginning this was the only statement about compositions and arrangements. The Hadal main core wanted to merge atmospheric verses and dark metal riffs, to create a slow groove with melodic yet powerful guitars. At that point, the definition of a new vocalist was fundamental, there was the intention of using both clean and raw voices to convey different emotions. The first experiment was carried out with Alessia, four tracks were recorded in 2012. The Dark Water promo stimulated some live activity and good hopes. Unfortunately, she decided to move in the UK for studying. One year passed by, new songs were written and played. Alberto entered the band in 2013 and changed the achieved perspective. His strong personality and charisma charged the entire project with creative energy. Performances were convincing and enthusiastic to drive them to the recording of a new promo, The Obscure I (2014 – self released). Many live gigs and nice reviews later, Hadal decided to produce their first full-length, "Painful Shadow" (2017 – Sliptrick Records). This album was inspired from the true origins of the band. Every detail was a tribute to the '90ies, starting from the composing process and ending with the sound production. Years have passed by and Hadal decided to record something new.  “December” is a compendium of their history; it is a greeting to ten years of activity and coexistence. They have rearranged some old tracks and composed some new melodies, keeping in mind one vision: a deeper sounding matter. This is their way to conceive metal music, it is melancholic and gloomy, always linked to their inner tragedies. Despite their inclination for the cold winter season the overall result is warm and analogue, with no interest in overproduction. In certain circumstances vocal interpretations pay their tribute to the Mediterranean lyrical tradition, of course the menacing growl is still there to equilibrate the texture. All the tracks have been mixed and mastered at Track Terminal Studio by Francesco “Bardy” Bardaro, who has proven to be a real sonic institution in the northeast Italian landscape (Damned Pilots, Tytus, Concrete Jelly).

Post scriptum: we remember shortly that Franco was also part of the Italian death metal legend Necrosphere, while Teo played even in the first Rhapsody incarnation, Thundercross with Luca Turilli and Alex Staropoli.

LYONEN RELEASE "HARD TO DESTROY" VIDEO

PRESS RELEASE:

Hailing from Venezuela, Lyonen is the solo project from the mind of Luis Rivas. A clean and fresh take on classic heavy metal, Rivas intends to take the metal world by storm through his music.

Today, Rivas shares the video for “Hard To Destroy” off the debut album “This is Lyonen” released this past August. The track is a mix of sounds, from heavy metal to thrash. Rivas composed this instrumental song full of energy because he wanted to transmit power, as we are all-powerful machines that are hard to destroy, simple as that.

Watch the video for “Hard To Destroy” via YouTube HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlyRZ8Su8Hg&feature=youtu.be

“This is Lyonen” was recorded by Rivas as the sole musician, engineer, and producer for the entire release, aside from session vocals by Craig Cairns on certain tracks along with Jose Vegas on bass for “No Borders” and Javi One doing drums on “2 Hours to Go”. Originally fifteen tracks were recorded, but only eleven were kept on the release, some with lyrics and others that are instrumental. This was a challenge for Rivas, but overall a very satisfying experience for him. He explains further:

“In this album, I’ve been focusing on my own experiences, my ups, and downs, and most importantly how to achieve your goals with confidence. It comes from my thoughts from years ago, and most of the songs were composed years back. It is important to mention that I am from Venezuela, a Hispanic country, my native language is Spanish, but since I was a kid, I’ve been listening to music in English, it sounds natural for me despite it sometimes being hard when it is time to write your own lyrics in this language, however, I keep learning and reading to improve my writing.”

Recommended for fans of Stratovarius, Joe Satriani, and Metallica, “This is Lyonen” is available on Apple Music, Spotify, and Lyonen.com/music.

Fans can expect more music from Lyonen in the near future as Rivas is working on recording the follow-up album.
