About FROZEN SOUL:

FROZEN SOUL's brand of straightforward, in-your-face death metal is a gasp of fresh air in a genre that’s stretched the very limits of technicality. Fully formed in 2018, the quintet has rapidly made a name for itself and churned the underground with a sound that evokes the old school sound of bands like Obituary, Mortician and Bolt Thrower. That reverence for death metal’s roots was apparent from Frozen Soul’s initial four-song Encased In Ice demo (which includes a cover of Mortician’s “Witch’s Coven”) that was released in early 2019 on California's Maggot Stomp Records.

FROZEN SOUL entered the studio in early March 2020 to record its first full-length with former guitarist Daniel Schmuck handling production and mixing duties. Crypt of Ice is nothing short of a breath of very fresh and very cold air on death metal’s fiery landscape. From re-recorded demo tracks including the call-to-arms of “Encased In Ice” and the savage frost blister of "Wraith of Death", to the brutal, pummeling and momentous guitar churn of "Arctic Stranglehold", FROZEN SOUL has delivered a record that embraces the genre’s past whilst pushing death metal forward with frigid force.

EYEHATEGOD RELEASE SINGLE FROM NEW ALBUM

PRESS RELEASE:

Eyehategod have set a March 12 release date for the band’s first new full-length album in seven years, A History of Nomadic Behavior.

The album news arrives with a visualizer for “High Risk Trigger” a taste of what’s to come on the 12-song album. Lyrically, the song is cryptic and abstract, but it touches on the all-pervasive fears bred by an invisible germ storm sweeping through the nation and a society sickened by police brutality: “Infection is the way, disruptive crowd takes aim/Burn down the rail yard house, destroy the U.S.A.”

Singer Mike IX Williams said of the songs on the album, “We’re not a political band, but it was hard not to be affected by the news from the past year. During this recording, I thought a lot about how stupid humanity has become and how America is now completely divided with these people who don’t believe in science and blindly follow liars and nonsensical ideologies. Some of those feelings may have found their way into these songs, but it is mostly subliminal.”

A History of Nomadic Behavior follows a period that saw the New Orleans based band on the road for three years, preceded by Williams suffering liver failure and a transplant. “We toured our asses off for three years and that’s where A History of Nomadic Behavior basically comes from,” adds Williams before touching on his health challenge: “Death is a part of life, it’s a roll of the dice. Sometimes you take life as it comes, other times you fight to stay alive.” The album was produced by Eyehategod, Sanford Parker (Yob, Voivod) and James Whitten (Thou, High on Fire), with mixing by Whitten. The band recorded at HighTower Recording and Hypercube studios.

The album is available in the following formats and can be pre – ordered HERE

About EyeHateGod

New Orleans’ Eyehategod is the snarling, bilious sound of dead-end America. Since 1988, they’ve been a soundtrack for the troubled masses. Pitchfork dubbed them the “quintessential Southern sludge band,” Rolling Stone said they are one of “America’s great live bands,” and Thrasher said they are “true musical pioneers in every sense of the word.” Anyone familiar with Eyehategod’s story knows this is survivor’s music, a sound unto itself where Sabbathian riffs are meted out with a caustic anger that goes beyond punk. That’s been the blueprint since guitarist Jimmy Bower (also of NOLA supergroup, Down) founded the band in 1988 with vocalist Michael IX Williams joining not long after. With a discography including sludge-punk mainstays like In the Name of Suffering (1990), Take as Needed for Pain (1993) Dopesick (1996), Confederacy of Ruined Lives (2000) and 2014’s eponymously-titled LP, released in the US through Housecore Records, Eyehategod laid the cracked foundation for their infamous and influential sound. Gary Mader is the band’s bass player, with Aaron Hill on drums.

FLOOD PEAK RELEASE "FIXED RITUAL" EP

PRESS RELEASE:

Flood Peak

Fixed Ritual

Anima Recordings

22 January 2021

Genre: Blackened Sludge/Post-Metal

Location: Portland, OR, USA.

Anima Recordings presents Portland trio Flood Peak’s EP, Fixed Ritual, which arrives 22nd January 2021 on cassette and digital formats.

Flood Peak made their entrance in 2016 as outsiders, but their monolithic, gloom-ridden blackened post/sludge started to spread steadily through word of mouth and live shows. Swallowing elements from different extreme and experimental music territories, their impenetrable wall of sonic filth encompasses a mix of chaotic and droning riffs, creatively frantic drums, sparsely raw vocals, and monstrous basslines.

2018’s debut album, Plagued by Sufferers, saw Flood Peak anchoring their dismal cruise in an anemic wasteland. Reaping accolades from the critics and the fans alike, this opus compelled the Oregon sludge merchants to play more gigs and craft new tunes.

With the upcoming EP, Fixed Ritual, Flood Peak is ready to spread their absurd, disfigured, and desolated anthems to the minds and ears of all who cross its path. The five-track mini-album is not a mere extension to their debut; it’s a shift to a more dissonant and avant trajectory, a foreboding occurrence that frames vulnerability and negativity. Lyrically, this recording focuses primarily on mental and emotional states and the scarcely woven threads that seemingly hold it all together. Each song gradually progresses in aching slow motion and turns into more massive and more dangerous over time — without lacking variety.

ALLEGAEON RELEASE SINGLE "CONCERTO IN Dm"

PRESS RELEASE:

Today (December 4th), Allegaeon has released a new digital single, Concerto in Dm – featuring the title track and B-side “In Flanders Fields”. Greg Burgess (guitars) comments: “What can we say about J.S. Bach that hasn’t already been said? Musical genius? Greatest composer to ever walk the earth? It’s all been written before, so I’ll go to what he means to Allegaeon. I first heard this piece back in 2000, and it has been a dream of mine to arrange this piece for a metal band; it only took 20 years to make it a reality. For anyone who has never worked on Bach before, the learning process is painstaking. Just when you think it’s a repeat of a section you’ve already learned, you’re suddenly in a new key, or there is a variation that totally throws a wrench in your muscle memory. In short, recording this piece was the most challenging thing I’ve ever attempted in this band. And I’m insanely proud of it. Crank it loud and get lost in it.”

Riley McShane (vocals) adds: “Originally, these songs were part of the first draft track-listing of ‘Apoptosis‘. In fact, this alternate track-listing – including these two songs – ended up being the running order for the ‘Apoptosis‘ LP. However, over a year after the initial release, we decided to put the songs out in a digital format for everyone to enjoy, just in time for the holiday season. Who needs Trans-Siberian Orchestra when you have Allegaeon covering Bach?”

Allegaeon‘s latest album, Apoptosis, was released last year to critical acclaim. Tracked at Flatline Audio in Denver with long-serving producer Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Cephalic Carnage), Apoptosis is Allegaeon‘s fifth full-length, and the first to feature bassist Brandon Michael. “Musically, Brandon brings a huge new dimension,” vocalist Riley McShane enthuses. “He has this wide breadth of music knowledge and stylistic proficiency that he draws from with excellent taste, and this makes a lot of the songs on ‘Apoptosis‘ come to life.” The record also features a guest appearance by classical guitarist Christina Sandsengen, who duets with guitarist Greg Burgess on “Colors of the Currents”. “On this record, I was more open to new ideas that we might not have used in past,” states guitarist Michael Stancel. “Rather than deleting something because ‘it’s not Allegaeon-y enough’, I would take a step back and see if that idea fit the song and decide if it was worth keeping. With that mentality came some of my favorite songs, because I was less worried about if it fit into our old sound.” This statement is borne out across the whole album, which while very much embodying the core Allegaeon sound that has drawn fans in over the course of their impressive career, it pushes into new territory, and does so with unerring confidence. “Thematically, this record is all about contrast, and the music reflects that perfectly,” says McShane. “The vocals are heavier than ever, but there are also more clean sections. The drums are faster than ever but also more dynamic, and the guitar playing is lower and slower than on most previous albums, but also provides long, melodic and beautiful sections throughout.”
