BURIED released the following statement concerning the band's style and the forthcoming album:

"You may remember the brutal vocals of Joel Sta and the insane drumming of Robbe V, as they were part of the brutal death metal band PYAEMIA. Now they’re up for something new: together with Worm on bass –

who also played in PYAEMIA - they have teamed up with Steve on guitars who adds a lot of groove in his songwriting."

"Bands like Suffocation, Revocation and Decapitated are big influences on our sound, and even Pantera comes to mind. We like it heavy, sometimes with odd time signatures and at the same time we want the audience to bang their heads," says Steve. "The lyrical theme is about all dark things we call upon ourselves," Joel adds. "Nothing new on that part, just brutal stuff!"

Soon after the recording of their debut album, Oculus Rot, BURIED signed a deal with Brutal Mind. Now get ready for some sick Death Metal from The Netherlands!

IOTUNN TO RELEASE "ACCESS ALL WORLDS"

PRESS RELEASE:

On February 26th, Denmark's Iotunn will release their new album, Access All Worlds, via Metal Blade Records. For a first preview of the record, a video for the single "Voyage of the Garganey I" can be viewed at: metalblade.com/iotunn - where Access All Worlds can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

- digipak-CD

- 180g black vinyl (EU exclusive)

- "deep space" marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 200 copies)

- "moonscape" marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 200 copies)

- red / black dust vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 100 copies)

- "uranus" blue / white marbled vinyl (US exclusive)

Formed in 2015, Iotunn (which is old Norse for "Giant") entered the scene with their acclaimed EP, The Wizard Falls (2016), which was mixed by Flemming Rasmussen (Metallica, Morbid Angel, Blind Guardian, Rainbow) at Sweet Silence Studios. After some line-up changes, the band found their voice and narrator in March 2018: Jón Aldará (Hamferd), plus bassist Eskil Rask (Sunless Dawn) in October 2019. The quintet - completed by Jens Nicolai Gräs (guitars), Jesper Gräs (guitars), Bjørn Wind Andersen (drums) - then began work on their first full-length and Metal Blade Records debut: Access All Worlds.

Mixed and mastered by Fredrik Nordström (In Flames, At the Gates, Dimmu Borgir) at Fredman Studios, Access All Worlds is seven songs driven by creative curiosity and artistic honesty, that also initiate feelings and reflections. An epic, cosmic and contemplative journey of energetic beauty and ferocity, Access All Worlds reflects on human existence, set in a storyline following daring space travelers. The music is grounded in roaring, colorful drumming and crushing bass, while the sonic horizon is painted with a vast spectrum of guitar-driven expression, all overarched by narration through diverse vocals. "We wanted to make an epic, strong and atmospheric yet rocking record both musically and lyrically. Jón came with the idea based on space travelers trying to find answers to the apocalypse, which reflects many of the impressions, feelings and thoughts human life holds that originates from something vast, mysterious, chaotic and breathtakingly spectacular. Everything just went berserk regarding the album theme. Is everything occurring in the lyrics just a dream? Is the album an allegory for any individual's chapters in life? Where does the album actually start and end? Stuff like that. We find that the album can be interpreted in various ways. For us, the album is a truly exciting journey, and we hope it will be for the listener as well, on his or her own terms", says guitarist Jens Nicolai.

Visually, Access All Worlds is completed by Nicole Kantor (design and layout) and Eliran Kantor (artwork), known for their work with Testament, Atheist, Hatebreed, Soulfly, etc.

KAUPE RELEASE NEW SINGLE: "DEATH RATTLE"

PRESS RELEASE:

Prog metal band KAUPE have released their song "Death Rattle" via Ghost Cult Magazine. The track is from their album Cognitive Dissonance which will be released on Feb 19th.

Listen to the song: https://www.ghostcultmag.com/exclusive-premiere-kaupe-death-rattle/

Pre-order: https://kaupe.bandcamp.com/album/cognitive-dissonance

It is indisputable that the best start to any band is “Holy shit, I got this riff.” In this way Kaupe, an ambitious band with influences spanning decades, was born in 2016. The Florida-based project started life between two eclectic individuals whose propensity to riff off each other knew no bounds. Two years later, with two other equally talented members onboard, the group went on to release their début The Depths, which brought nation-wide recognition and shows with Andrew W.K. and Virgil Donati among others. Now, after having hammered out an even hungrier record than last time, the band are ready to release Cognitive Dissonance.

Muscular, progressive, colorful. From the first moment of “Death Rattle” to the grand finale of “Capsized”, the sound is captivating through every twist and turn. And it’s a long record - ten full-on tracks and a creepy interlude (an ode to Twin Peaks, no less). There is a feeling of adventure throughout, both in the unpredictable songwriting and the wide range of influences - and not a single word is spoken.

Speaking of influences, a small taster of the range that Kaupe draw from: “Death Rattle” recalls a more cinematic Helmet riding their groove, while “Simpatico” draws from Interpol and Torche simultaneously. The drummer, Marc Larabel, is simply an octopus to rival the mathiest and proggiest bands (here’s to you, Mars Volta), and Brett Walker (Also in Junior Bruce) is a machine in both riffing and technical lines. Not to be outdone, Pedro Medrano is no slack on bass (especially on “Head In A Bag”), and the classically-trained Patrick Ross brings a psychedelic flavor with his keyboards, such as on “Cop Caller” where an evocative video game-esque atmosphere collides with a thundering rhythm.

It is clear in every moment that the four are having tremendous fun, and their chemistry is off the charts. Their live shows come back with consistent rave reviews, and with songs like these it is abundantly clear why. Cognitive Dissonance is an apt term for the record - except instead of having two conflicting ideas, it’s akin to being pulled in multiple directions by different strands of musical history. Kaupe have pulled out a humdinger of an album, and it is safe to say that many fans within the rock and metal umbrella will be taken in by their charm.

Cognitive Dissonance will be released on Feb 19 2021.
