Get Your Copy NOW!

The wait is almost over! Black/Epic Metal pioneers DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED cloak the world in a veil of damnation with their third single and final harbinger of doom and destruction "Black Fog And Poison Wind", cut from their striking upcoming album, Angel of Carnage Unleashed, to be revealed this Friday, November 12. The Finnish foursome, now featuring Tuomas Holopainen as a full member of the band and Kai Hahto (both Nightwish) as session drummer, delivers this final teaser alongside an intriguing lyric video.

The record's final song, “Black Fog And Poison Wind”, offers an appropriate, hard-hitting and thunderous ending to the long-awaited comeback album of the Black Metal horde DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED. The song features mad, high-pitched screams, evil riffing, mind-blowing blastbeats and eerie choirs. After 23 years of silence, the vicious new offering, Angel Of Carnage Unleashed, sets free some of the fastest and most diabolic songs of the band's history - a sonic monster combining aggression, haunting soundscapes, epic majesty and evil melodies.

DARWOODS MY BETROTHED on their new single:

“This is one of our favourite songs from the new album. Lyrically, it tells the story of the so-called “Death March of the Carolinians” where 3000 soldiers of the Swedish army froze to death when withdrawing from Norway across the fells in the winter of 1718. We chose to approach this topic from an anthropomorphic perspective: the storyteller is the poisonous icy wind which – in the service of the Angel of Carnage – mercilessly murdered the soldiers in the snowy mountains. The story is accompanied with a black metal anthem that combines brutal blastbeat-driven passages with slower and melodic eerie parts featuring choirs and female vocals. We feel that the song captures the atmosphere of the lyric perfectly.“

Watch the new lyric video for "Black Fog And Poison Wind” HERE!

Angel of Carnage Unleashed contains eight songs written by the three musicians who founded the band in 1993: Pasi Kankkunen, Jouni Mikkonen and Teemu Kautonen (with substantial creative inputs from the fourth member Tuomas Holopainen). It sets free a unique blend of brutal, fast-driven black metal and epic anthems, in which eerie screams merge with heroic clean vocals, monumental choirs and majestic keyboards along with gory stories of famine, war, plague and the inescapable brutality of Finland’s nature in the era of the Great Northern War (1700-1721). It explores how Finns experienced the many manifestations of the Angel of Carnage, sent by God to punish them for their sins.

Guitarist Jouni Mikkonen on Tuomas Holopainen now being a full member of the band:

“Tuomas was featured as a session keyboardist on all previous albums. This time he was fully on board from the moment we decided to make this album and hence it was natural for him to become a full band member. He also made a substantial contribution to the creative process.”

The album opener “Name the Dead'' sets off with atmospheric organ tunes but leaves no scope for weakness, as only a few seconds later storming drums, aggressive riffs and raging growls set the stage for everything that is about to come: brutal soundscapes spliced with epic accents! The second track, "In Evil, Sickness and in Grief'', pierces through the core with a poisoning vocal attack and contrasting operatic female background layers, followed by the heavily stomping “You Bitter Source of Sorrow” and “Where We Dwell” with its haunting, all-consuming keyboard passages. “In Thrall to Ironskull's Heart” showcases the multifaceted character of DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED with an almost balladic start, which evolves into an uptempo, epic journey into the Battle of Napue (1714). The title of the penultimate track “Massacre” conveys the track’s musical direction with precision: expect in-your-face blastbeats and gory lyrics, followed by “Black Fog And Poison Wind”, before Angel of Carnage Unleashed ends with the tunes of a soundtrack-like outro.

Bassist Teemu Kautonen on the album:

“The lyrics are based on the work of the renowned Finnish historian Teemu Keskisarja. His research inspired us both to carefully embed all lyrics in the appropriate historical context and to bring forth the human dimension by focusing on stories of individual people and how they experienced this perhaps darkest period of Finnish history.”

Vocalist/guitarist Pasi Kankkunen adds:

“It was very important for us to have the original line-up on the comeback album. We also agreed right at the beginning of the process to share the songwriting in equal proportions – just as we did on the 1996 classic album, Autumn Roars Thunder.”

VENOM PRISON RELEASE NEW SINGLE "JUDGES OF THE UNDERWORLD"

PRESS RELEASE:

UK’s VENOM PRISON are unleashing “Judges Of The Underworld”, the first song and video taken from their upcoming album, “Erebos”. that will be out worldwide on February 4th, 2022.

While the song is available on all DSPs the video will be premiered at 6pm CET/5pm UK/1pm ET/10amPT. The clip was directed and produced Thomas Coe Brooker with creative input coming from VENOM PRISON’s own Larissa Stupar (vocals): https://youtu.be/xFGB7x-TZHk

The band comments “’Judges Of The Underworld’ deals with the crippling reality of people who face incarceration, who oftentimes are followed by violence over a lifetime. This violence can present itself as a dominating factor in a context of structural poverty and racial inequality, creating roles in an individual’s  life where they are not only the victim, but also witness and offender at different times in different situations. But the violence we address in our courts and prisons is judged out of social context and can therefore not lead to a fair and personalised resolution for people who are stuck in a cycle of violence and systematic oppression.

It was important for us to visualise this feeling of isolation, anxiety and repeated violence in the music video for ’Judges Of The Underworld’ and the idea was to show an individual that is stripped down to their basic needs and instincts. Consumed by their helplessness to navigate in an everyday situation, feeling isolated within themselves whilst going under in a sea of people that face similar conditions. This is where Thomas Coe Brooker comes in as a director and cinematographer, with his unique eye for detail he was able to bring out this combative helplessness and aggressiveness of said individual. He was able to convey the feeling of being alone in a crowd, suffering the same fate as many others, where isolation becomes your existence and a vicious cycle of your life at the hands of systematic violence.”

VENOM PRISON has carved an uncompromising space for themselves over the course of two full-length albums, “Animus” (2016) and “Samsara” (2019) with 2020’s “Primeval” reinvigorating the band’s earlier EPs with two newly written tracks added. What began as an explosive collaboration between Russian-born vocalist Larissa Stupar and guitarist Ash Gray (with the lineup rounded out by guitarist Ben Thomas, bassist Mike Jefferies and drummer Joe Bills) has exploded into a force to be reckoned with as vitriolic and outspoken lyrically as they are musically.

VORAATH (FT.NILE AND XAEL MEMBERS) RELEASE VIDEO FOR "SIREN HEAD"

PRESS RELEASE:

VORAATH, the brutal horror-inspired extreme metal band featuring members from Nile, Xael, Rapheumets Well, Implosive Disgorgence, and Sweet Blood are unleashing their debut single "Siren Head" with a haunting music video directed by drummer Joshua Nassaru Ward.

The track is just a preview from the otherworldly and experimental metal act based out of the Carolinas as they work on recording their forthcoming full length. Joshua Nassaru Ward explains further:

“Though most of the concept of our debut album follows a group of  “survivors” who are tasked with hunting down an inter-dimensional deity who has ravaged the earth, for this song (Siren Head) we wanted to do something “less” otherworldly and a bit more of a horror. My seven-year-old son loves watching scary stories about this creature called “Siren Head.” Come to find out that so many kids his age are infatuated by the monster, so we wanted to write our interpretation of Siren Head based on the artist Trevor Henderson. This also allowed for us some family metal/horror time!”

The music video can be viewed via its premiere on MetalInjection HERE

Single download and stream available at Voraath.bandcamp.com

Coming together only this past September, Voraath features Brad Parris (Nile) on vocals and guitar, Joshua Nassaru Ward (Xael, Rapheumets Well) on drums, vocals and keys, along with Paul McBride (Implosive Disgorgence, Sweet Blood) on bass, and guitarists Daniel Presnell and Tylor Kohl. The band first began as a vessel for them as musicians to continue touring and writing.

"We wanted to explore even further integrating science fantasy, soundscapes, and metal. This will be something new bringing together emotional yet brutal music and science fantasy so we hope to appeal to both metal enthusiasts as well as those who appreciate the lore of the music." adds the band.

Transporting fans to a different world, Voraath plans to offer up both escapism and music that relates to them on a personal level. For their live performance, the band has lots of on-stage theatrics and costuming to bring the storytelling to life. It will be both intense and immersive.

Voraath is recommended for fans of death metal, black metal, and 80’s movie soundtracks.

Band Line Up:

Joshua Nassaru Ward – Drummer/Vocals/ Keys

KRAVT DURCH KREBS RELEASE "SCHMERZKÖRPER"

PRESS RELEASE:

Kravt Durch Krebs

'Schmerzkörper'

Release Date: September 11th 2021

FFO: Totenmond, Woods of Ypres, Napalm Death, Dead Can Dance, Darkthrone, Paysage d´Hiver

Genre: Ambient, Black Metal, Noise, Avantgarde, Spoken word, Doom, Dissonant, Metal, Lo-fi

Label: Independent

Kravt durch Krebs delivers a fine example of modern conscious black metal, combining the production and attitude values of old school bands like Celtic Frost and Hellhammer with new age lyricism and perception.

Kravt durch Krebs is a one person Band . The one Bandmember goes by the Alter Ego "Knecht Geiper". This Project will never ever play any live shows but will continue to put out music. It is meant to sound disturbing and raw with a fuck that attitude. The feeling while recording the songs was more important than the output itself - so the songs have many "happy accidents" and are far away from a good polished sound and perfect playing. The lyrics are intended not to be heard clearly. It is more about feeling the vocals vibe than understanding everything. Kravt durch Krebs translated means (Power through Cancer), usually it would be written Kraft instead of Kravt. The Album Title translated means Pain Body
