HYLOXALUS' alluring sound will draw you into the album's opener "He Dies In The Swamp". Unceasing percussion drives the track with inhuman speed, while distorted guitars bring grounding rhythms for ghostly harmonies to soar above. Drift off into the taunting nightmares of "Dream Chasm", but beware the sleep paralysis demons. Instrumental layers in "Undead in Ward 6" make for theatrical offering, aptly portraying a vampiric tale of escaping terminal illness in exchange for eternal life. The final tracks, "Severed From The Reborn Sun" and "Splitter" end the album with a dramatic tale as the protagonist attempts to destroy God. HYLOXALUS' dissonant progressions and fast-rhythms manifest unease and suspense as the epic battle takes place. 

About HYLOXALUS:

Based out of Edmonton, Canada, HYLOXALUS initially grew from a handful of demos with intentions to explore a melodeath sound. Instead, soprano lead vocals were added and an array of styles bled into the mix. Having been operating as a studio project, 2021 saw HYLOXALUS take to the stage supporting RAVENOUS and the trio subsequently performed at Armstrong Metalfest (2022) and Hyperspace Metalfest (2023). The band's first two EPs, released in 2019 and 2021, were musically placed in the realms of 2000s euro power metal but with a moodier edge. Make Me The Heart Of The Black Hole sees the trio develop their sound into FEAR FACTORY/STRAPPING YOUNG LAD riffs meets TRISTANIA, with drumming heavily inspired by RUSH.

COGNIZANCE RELEASE "PHANTAZEIN"

Phantazein marks the band's first release for Willowtip, following two albums for Prosthetic Records, 2019's Malignant Dominion and 2021's Upheaval.

Phantazein is a concept album that transcends the band's previous boundaries and delves into the intricate interplay between art, obsession, and the profound influence of one's environment. Following their acclaimed 2021 sophomore release Upheaval, the enigmatic creators behind Phantazein return with their highly-anticipated third full-length album, which serves to further solidify their mark as a musical force in the underground metal scene.

Orphaned Land release their third single and live video for “The Cave” of upcoming live album `A Heaven You May Create`

'A Heaven You May Create' commemorates the band's remarkable 30th anniversary, marked by an exceptional performance featuring a symphony of 60 talented musicians. This concert was captured on film and recording in 2021, a challenging period during the Covid-19 pandemic that disrupted the global economy. In a brief respite between lockdowns, when the world temporarily regained a semblance of normality, Orphaned Land seized the opportunity to deliver a special performance. The renowned "Heichal HaTarbut" in Tel Aviv, Israel, played host to this event, with an enthusiastic audience of 2,500 people in attendance.

STRIGAMPIRE ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM: "ALL TO DOMINATE"

Created in 2001 in Quebec, Canada, Strigampire has been recognized over the years for its eloquence and the energy coming out from each of its frantic live performances. Over two decades of hard work culminated last year when they entered the studio with producer Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy) to record their highly anticipated third full-length album “All To Dominate”. The first look at the album is with the single “Liberty”, which addresses the psychological and emotional consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Vocalist Steve DC explains:

“This song kicks off the album, brilliantly capturing the variety of moods that unfold through our melodies. Although precise labeling of metal styles and subgenres isn’t my forte, I would say it starts with a fast and thrashy riff, subtly guiding us towards powerful and rock-oriented sections, an evolution we increasingly incorporate into our songs. Then, a guitar solo in Johnny Dead’s style emerges, followed by a bridge that quickly returns us to the initial atmosphere, concluding with a warrior-like riff that urges one to wreak havoc all around!”

Earlier this year, after 3 years of no performances and adding new members, the band made a triumphant return to the stage and emerged Wacken Metal Battle Canada 2023 Champions garnering a spot at the legendary festival Wacken Open Air.

“All To Dominate” features 10 tracks, including 9 new original songs and one cover. Strigampire didn’t have a surplus of additional songs to include on the album, so they selected the ones with the most potential and worked diligently to complete them. The result is an album that is melancholic, unique, and powerful. It is recommended for fans of Dark Tranquillity, Children Of Bodom, Arch Enemy, and At The Gates.

SKELETAL REMAINS RELEASE NEW TRACK AND VIDEO: "VOID OF DESPAIR"

As their first Single of their upcoming album `Fragements of the Ageless`, SKELETAL REMAINS released their new single “Void of Despair” that is being accompanied by a gloomy video directed by Dillon Vaughn.

The band comments:

“We are very proud to present our first single entitled ‘Void of Despair’! Inspired by the true horrors of the many men lost at sea, who after depleting all of their resources and food, turned to cannibalism for survival. We gave the old stories our own twist by having the crew set on a ship lost in the eternal void of deep space. The aggression and spastic riffs swirling throughout the song perfectly express the feeling to an endless losing battle of sanity and starvation, thus succumbing to their demise. We hope you enjoy!“  

In early November, SKELETAL REMAINS sets off on an extensive North American tour as they join forces with Suffocation and Incantation for a relentless metal onslaught. Additional support comes from the formidable Stabbing. The band also has a series of headlining shows lined up both before and after the tour.

Finnish blackened death metal band Progeny of Sun released their third single 'Courier' from the upcoming debut album 'Throne of Desolation'.  The album is set to be released on December 8th via Inverse Records.

The band comments: 

"Joni once woke Pepe up from his nap and excitedly said: "I made a song, but I don't remember how the riffs went." Pepe answered sleepily: "Add a couple of blast beats to it." Since the composition of the riffs was not fully memorized, Joni decided to add all the variations to the same song. Next, Niko gave his soul into the demo, but it was soon forgotten on the drawing board. Months later, the song was accidentally unearthed while making the album. There it was: a forgotten gem, exactly what was needed for the album. To this, the bassist, who was enjoying a beer, pointed out: "I've been talking to you guys about this song for months, and not until now you're noticing it." In rehearsals, Hauta watched the drummer who was enjoying himself too much, and demanded more double basses. Bass guitar was executed normally."
