Awakened Ancient Spirits is a collection of stories exploring the perils of existence, the evils of mankind, occult themes, spirituality, and the cycles of life, death, and creation. The album examines nature, consciousness, and mythological narratives involving spirits, gods, divine beings, and mortals within a dark fantasy framework.
The album pays tribute to the sound and atmosphere of 1990s black and death metal while presenting a personal interpretation shaped by modern songwriting sensibilities. Mystic guitar tones, forceful rhythms, fierce vocal delivery, and restrained symphonic elements define the sonic identity across the record.

About VITHIAL:
VITHIAL is a melodic black and death metal solo project from Pensacola, Florida, created and driven by David Dwayne. The project emerged in late 2023 and began taking form throughout 2024, initially envisioned as a collaborative effort before evolving into a fully independent endeavor. Early material was written during a period of experimentation and lineup exploration, resulting in a demo release that reflected the project’s formative stage rather than its final direction.
Musically, VITHIAL draws heavily from 1990s second-wave black metal and Florida death metal, with thrash metal influence shaping its rhythmic drive and aggression. The sound emphasizes melody-driven guitars, dynamic drumming, and cold, forceful vocals, supported by restrained synth elements used primarily for atmosphere. Production balances modern clarity with a slight raw edge, maintaining a connection to traditional extreme metal aesthetics.
Lyrically, VITHIAL explores themes of darkness, spirituality, death, the occult, misanthropy, and dark fantasy. Songs often unfold as mythological or metaphysical narratives involving gods, spirits, ancient knowledge, and the forces of nature. The project is rooted in traditional black metal foundations while presenting a personal interpretation shaped by focused songwriting and long-form conceptual intent.
