Negative Contrast is a progressive rock / metal band based in Athens, Greece.
They began their journey in autumn of 2016, and a year later, on December 2017, they presented their first music sample with the demo “Escape Reality”. After a series of live shows on 2018, they started recording their first full length album ”We ‘re All Pawns Here” at Dope of Sound studios and Made in Hell studios, mixed by Dionysis Christodoulatos (Sorrowful Angels), and the cover artwork created by project Jor Art & Design.
The debut LP was presented in June of 2019 at An Club of Athens. In the autumn of the same year the line up changed, as Selene replaced Katerina Magkoni on vocals and lyrics composition.
In 2020, during the Covid era, some of the band’s songs were included in two compilation albums amongst many great greek bands such as SixForNine, Message In a Cloud and Skags:
- Greek Rebels' webzine “Carving Metal Tunes vol.5”
- Hellenic Metal World's label “Towards The Horizon”
On the first day of 2022, Negative Contrast returned with the release of “Outcast” EP, a work that signaled the band’s new beginning, with Selene's first appearance behind the microphone bringing a new, fresh air with her performance.
