30 YEAR ANNIVERSARY: SLAYER "SEASONS IN THE ABYSS"

On the exact same date (October 8th, 1990) that TESTAMENT released "Souls of Black", SLAYER delivered another thrash metal masterpiece "Seasons in the Abyss". This was SLAYER´s fifth album, and the second after their masterpiece "Reign in Blood" (well and the other masterpiece, while slower, "South of Heaven"). The album starts with the crushing "War Ensemble", at full speed and the comes "Blood Red" which shows the trademark sound that SLAYER has on this album with tunes like "Dead Skin Mask", "Expendable Youth" and "Seasons in the Abyss". This was the last album to feature Dave Lombardo on drums until the reunion for 2006´s "Christ Illusion". A pure thrash metal masterpiece.

THIS DAY BUT IN 1990: TESTAMENT RELEASE "SOULS OF BLACK"

After three amazing albums, "The Legacy", "The New Order" and "Practice What You Preach", thrash metal masters TESTAMENT released on October 9th, 1990, their classic "Souls of Black". While adding a more polished production to the sound the band managed to create an album that is somehow a bridge between the previous released and their next one, the more melodic "The Ritual". Alex Skolnick guitar achieves some of his best solos at the time with the title track and with the ballad "The Legacy" while Eric Peterson rhythm guitar and the rhythm section create the distinctive wall of sound that has become TESTAMENT´s trademark. Chuck Billy´s vocals achieve one more step forward in his amazing range with tracks like "Face in the Sky" or "Absence of Light". An album that 30 years later is still a masterpiece.

PULSE RELEASE "ADJUSTING THE SPACE"

PRESS RELEASE:

Band: PULSE

Album: Adjusting The Space

Country: Austria

Genre: Cyber Metal

Label: NRT-Records

Release date: November 6th, 2020

PULSE conquer the earth with the Cyber Future Metal adventure “Adjusting The Space” Put your seats in an upright position and switch to warp speed, because with “Adjusting The Space” PULSE raise the interstellar Cyber Future Metal bar. With futuristic drum sounds, heavy guitars and a scratchy diabolical voice that fits the alien overlord image well, the Austrians create a brute, yet incredibly danceable Industrial Electro Metal sound that is well suited for the extra-terrestrial conquerors. The sophomore PULSE studio album “Adjusting The Space” with its 13 songs and the artwork of Richard Touzimsky, long-awaited by many fans, will be released on November, 06th, 2020, via NRT-Records. With “Black Knight”, the first single appetizer, along with a lyric video, has already been released at the end of May and it gave a taste of what friends of extragalactic Cyber Metal can look forward to in autumn. Founded in 2014 by Nemesis, the mastermind of the Austrian Black Metal band Astaroth, PULSE quickly laid the foundation for the crossbreeding of Cyberpunk and Metal. With their 2015 debut album “Extinction Level Event”, released through CCP Records, they left a lasting impression on the Gothic, Electro and Metal scene. Besides vocalist and guitarist Nemesis, bassist Vidar, drummer Pulsar and guitarist Dom are members of the PULSE squad to bring the sound of their home planet closer to mankind. Live on stage they already left their extraterrestrial traces on the Schattenwelt Festival in Vienna or the legendary Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig. After numerous concerts, it was time to ring in the next phase of the terrestrial conquest and so PULSE retreated to CCP Studio in late summer 2019 to produce “Adjusting The Space” with Claus Prellinger (Dornenreich, Jack Frost, Thirdmoon). With “X 31‘ 26‘43 NY 109‘ 430“W” they open the album with an allusion to the Roswell incident in the year 1947. It continues with the second single, a striking warning from outer space called “We Won’t Come In Peace”, which warns the human species to treat their own planet with more respect otherwise, the aliens will not arrive in peace.

The ambiguous “New Elastic Freak”, which is also the third single, is about the schizophrenic scene of a psychopath playing with a sex rubber doll or the examination of an alien corpse.

With the title track, the four cosmic musicians officially introduce themselves to the earthlings and allow them to welcome a new generation of life. For 13.000 years, the socalled “Black Knight” satellite is orbiting our earth. What is its mission? Surveillance? Or is its task connected with our fate after all? With “Major Tom”, PULSE has succeeded in a surprisingly catchy adaptation of the NDW classic by Peter Schilling. For the finale, the award-winning Venezuelan DJ and remixer Zardonic (Bullet For My Valentine, Corroded, Liv Sin) has taken one of the band’s classics, “AlienAngel” (Zardonic Remix), and skilfully, brutally transformed it into his style.

Coming from Industrial Cyber Metal, PULSE blow fresh wind into this genre with the release of “Adjusting The Space”, an album that will not only convince fans of the Industrial scene when it hits our planet in early November. We definitely welcome our new intergalactic overlords!

ABANDONED SOULS RELEASE "BLINDING DARKNESS" SINGLE

PRESS RELEASE:

Canada's ABANDONED SOULS will be releasing their new single “Blinding Darkness” on October 9, 2020 with a video soon to follow.

With the release of “Blinding Darkness”, the band is excited to share with fans their blend of powerful and personal music inspired by life experiences. For the year 2020, it's absolutely the right song at the right time. The lyrics for this song were written shortly after James Todd’s mother passed away, and he channeled his thoughts during that dark time into the music. He explains the meaning of the song in his own words:

“The song is about facing the reality of death or dark times and dealing with it. It’s also learning to maneuver through the darkness and finding a way to be more comfortable within that space. To realize that you need to face it head-on sometimes and learn how to live and prosper from the experience of getting through these times.”

As the cliché goes, “there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.”, Abandoned Souls shows strength and pushes through, finding that light and marching towards it. Given the current state of the world, this encouragement to overcome obstacles is pertinent as ever.

Abandoned Souls have amassed a respectable discography since 2006 including four full-length albums and an EP. As their name partly implies, they write hard-hitting aggressive music that has melody. Consistently writing tunes with heavy replay value, sharing the stage with many well-known bands, and appearing at several festivals, Abandoned Souls knows how to write classic heavy songs that will linger in the minds of listeners.

Recommended for fans of hard rock including Alter Bridge, Godsmack, Three Days Grace; “Blinding Darkness” is available on October 9, 2020.

The single can be heard before it officially drops via its premiere on V13.net HERE.
