Canadian groove laden, melodic death metallers Ethereal Void have been quietly developing into one of the most talented bands around. The band is the trio of Voiicide, Logan Mayhem, and Nemesis. Their new album, Primordial Dissonance, is out now and it’s the band’s most sophisticated release to date, as it builds on 2023’s more direct Gods of a Dead World, while maintaining the band’s trademark sound.

The album title, Primordial Dissonance, is appropriate. There is a primal aggression and dirty foundation for Ethereal Void’s music, but the dissonant, often groove heavy sound has frequently drawn comparisons to bands like Gojira and Septicflesh. This adds a familiarity with regards to Ethereal Void’s sound, while maintaining the mysterious persona of the band’s members.

Spinebuster Entertainment is a new record label created by Brett Van Put, who is best known as the editor for Transcending the Mundane. Transcending the Mundane was a print magazine from 1997-2006 and then was resurrected in 2023 as a digital entity. Spinebuster Entertainment was originally conceived by Tom Destefano from the band Monday Knights and owner of the legendary record store, None of the Above Records. Brett and Tom partnered for the Spinebuster Entertainment venture, but it was cut short by Tom’s tragic death. Now, Spinebuster Entertainment is back and Spaceman’s Read Only Memory is the label’s first release.

U.S. Death Metal duo FOG WALL are set to release debut album, Gloomweaver, on September 4!

Gloomweaver collects some of Tolkien’s most harrowing tales, as well as stories of the torturous, terrifying worlds depicted in the work of FromSoftware, the Japanese video game development studio. Included therein are everything from haunted fortresses to arachnid-shaped demons whose sole purpose is to eat the world, not to mention the forceful enclosure of humans into glass jars.

FOG WALL is the passion project of two lifelong friends - Zak Brady and Alex Malmquist. The duo draw inspiration from all things dark fantasy and horror. Combining their love of crushing evil riffs and heavy bass tones, they strive to conjure a new menace in a familiar genre.
