SEPULCHRE OF MAN RELEASE "CURTAIN CALL" SINGLE

PRESS RELEASE:

Sepulchre of Man

Curtain Call

MMD

14 January 2021

South African symphonic death metal supergroup Sepulchre of Man will release the single "Curtain Call" on January 14, 2021, off their upcoming debut album The Reckoning.  With the support of MMD Records behind them, the track is a promising taste of what's to come from this new outfit.

The band explains,

"'Curtain Call' is the opening track of The Reckoning, which is a concept album. It's about the apocalypse brought forth by a horde of “The Flayed Ones” -- former humans that were taken from Earth millennia ago and tortured, resulting in their hatred for mankind. 'Curtain Call' sets the tone by describing the destruction and also alludes to the fact that the destruction was part of a master plan put into place by the album’s primary antagonist. Sonically dark and vocally powerful, it makes sense that this track is the album’s single."

About Sepulchre of Man

Sepulchre Of Man is a supergroup of the South African metal scene, consisting of band members that have all earned their stripes performing in multiple live and studio projects. The band was formed with the ethos of providing high quality death metal with eerie and epic orchestration, matched with a theatrical live show.  While COVID has slowed down the possibility of epic live shows at the moment, it has not dampened the band's ability to pull off amazing compositions -- and that is the aim of their upcoming debut release, The Reckoning.  Sepulchre Of Man writes concept albums, with the idea of future albums being about other apocalypses in parallel dimensions.

Now back to that supergroup lineup: Dave Dippenaar is the drummer of long running groove metal band Psordid.  He also plays in Nerve Zero and Omentum. Simon Werner plays bass for symphonic death metal band Surdus, bass for comedic death metal bass band Omentum, and guitar for symphonic black metal band Lesuth. Alec Larsen plays guitar for Surdus, bass and vocals for Omentum, and bass for melodic death metal band Forsaking Fate.

Together, these three seasoned musicians create a sound that is greater than the sum of its parts.  Says Larsen, "Symphonic extreme metal is something that is a fundamental part of my very being. It is an honour to be able to share something so expressive and visceral with people."

ABERRATION RELEASE "ABERRATION" EP + VIDEO

PRESS RELEASE:

With influences coming from extreme metal beasts like Antediluvian, Altarage, and Impetuous Ritual, Minneapolis MN dark death metal obscurators Aberration debut via Sentient Ruin with their self-titled 2021 debut 10" EP, an aural pact with total darkness that establishes them as one of the most imaginative and intimidating new entities in American underground extreme metal.

Today Toilet Ov Hell unveils “III”, the first track taken from the release stating that “reminiscent of the impending claustrophobic dread of Impetuous Ritual or even the soul-consuming self-abrogation of Ifrinn, these three tracks have left me adrift in a hallucinatory haze of annihilation, and I can think of no other appropriate way to end 2020“ - you can check out their feature HERE.

No newcomers to game, Aberration formed in late 2019 with JH of Void Rot on guitar and vocals, DH of Suffering Hour on bass and vocals, AW of Nothingness on guitar, and EC of Tvaer on drums and threw the sum of their talents and influences into an obfuscating aural glorification of total darkness and oblivion, combining death, doom, black metal and tenebrous ambient/drone to create an imposing aural hellscape of complete light-devouring terror.

An impenetrable and abysmal sonic colossus, the fifteen-minute self-titled MLP is a churning maelstrom of oppressive and abhorrent death metal chaos that will see an official release January 15 2021 on limited edition 10” vinyl and digital formats via Sentient Ruin.

BLESSED BLACK RELEASE "LA BREA" SINGLE

PRESS RELEASE:

Blessed Black

La Brea

Self released

12 February 2021

Cincinnati, Ohio doom quartet Blessed Black are excited to announce the upcoming release of "La Brea," the single is being released prior to the band entering the studio to record their upcoming  full-length.  This six-minute genre-blender serves as a preview of the music Blessed Black has crafted and honed throughout 2020.

Vocalist and guitarist Joshua Murphy says,

"We spent the majority of 2020 like most bands: lamenting the loss of live music, and writing a ton of new music. Over the course of the last year or so we have stockpiled a ton of new material, and we found a lot of new growth in our sound that we really feel represents us finally finding our sound as a band.

With plans to record a new full length album in early spring of 2021. We wanted to record La Brea as a single so we could release something in the interim that would show what we believe represents us finally finding that sound as band. It was recorded at Threshold Studios with engineer Brian 'Bone' Thorburn, who also recorded our first EP, and we are extremely excited for our fans and friends to hear the growth we have undergone in the last year."

"La Brea" will be available on Feb 12th.

About Blessed Black

Does the world really need another doom band? Probably not, but that might be why Blessed Black should be the next band on your radar. Transcending genre barriers and infusing influences from the worlds of traditional heavy metal, post punk, grunge, while incorporating the best elements of the doom genre, Blessed Black is primed and ready to be the new name in the crowded stoner / doom landscape.

Formed in October of 2017, what started as a few riffs and a casual hangout in a dirty Cincinnati band space quickly became a project of passion and determination amongst four friends. Frontman and guitarist Joshua Murphy brings a plethora of experience to the table as a member of the accomplished thrash metal band War Curse, complimented by the creativity of fellow guitarist and long time friend Chris Emerson, the seasoned chops of drummer Ray Bates, and powerhouse bassist Brad Bellamy.

Blessed Black unleashed their debut album titled Beyond the Crimson Throne in January 2020. The band said of this seven-song offering, " Beyond the Crimson Throne is a representation of the journey we took together as musicians, finding our sound and learning to become a band. The result is better than we could have imagined and we hope you all enjoy it."

RAGE IN MY EYES RELEASE VIDEO FOR "WINTER DREAM"

PRESS RELEASE:

Rage In My Eyes is a technically sound heavy metal act hailing from Porto Alegre, Brazil who have a new video out for the track “Winter Dream” off the 2019 album “Ice Cell”. The video was part of the band’s participation in the Roadie Crew Online Festival - 9º Edição.

“Ice Cell” is the first album by the band under their current name; the group also released three albums under Scelerata. They originally formed in 2002 and with the recent name change has altered their sound to incorporate traditional music from South America with prog and heavy metal. Along with the cultural infusion, Rage In My Eyes brings in accordion for a truly one of a kind listening experience. Vocalist Jonathas Pozo explains the conception of “Winter Dream”:

“We had already chosen Winter Dream as the opening track, which led us to address the lyric theme in order to present a little of the icy scenery of Ice Cell, imagining the aspect of our biological and chemical origin under the influence of the morphic field theory of Rupert Sheldrake, that is, considering the presence of the past as an important constituent of our subsequent choices, as humanity. At the same time bringing in this scenario landscapes that are common in southern Brazil, such as fog, frost, and sometimes even snow. It was also chosen because it is a more cadenced and heavy song (although also extremely technical and quite proggy), thus contrasting with the usual melodic and fast opening tracks in power metal albums, representing more accurately the “musical humor” of the band.”

Overall, the album can be summed up as ‘tight’. It has great guitar riffs, fast drum parts, intricate instrumental parts, and powerful yet melodic vocals. Sometimes it leans towards prog metal, sometimes to power metal, sometimes to folk metal, sometimes to traditional metal, sometimes to thrash metal. And it still sounds like a cohesive whole, due to how well blended it all is.

Recommended for fans of Dream Theater, Helloween, and Symphony X, Rage In My Eyes brings an icy new edge to traditional power metal.

The video for “Winter Dream” can be watched on YouTube: https://youtu.be/OfB3faJoP54

With something for everyone, “Ice Cell” was released on August 14, 2019 and available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon.

MOONSCAPE TO RELEASE "ENTITY, CHAPTER II: ECHOES FROM A COGNITIVE DYSTOPIA"

PRESS RELEASE:

MOONSCAPE is a melodic death/progressive/power metal oriented project which was formed back in 2015 by Håvard Lunde, based in Gjøvik, Norway. Musical inspirations and influences include bands like EDGE OF SANITY, OPETH, ENTOMBED, AYREON, HELLOWEEN, YES, JETHRO TULL and many more. After many years of trying to find a proper musical direction in which he felt comfortable, he formed MOONSCAPE after rediscovering EDGE OF SANITY’s 1996 classic «Crimson» album, an album that stood out as the ultimate inspiration already in his adolescent years when he first became musically active. The idea of creating music that had low-tuned guitars with good melodies on top was an appealing one, and with added atmospheric and symphonic elements and variations in terms of texture and arrangement, he was better able to reach his goal; to create a large scale composition that his listeners would later on refer to as «a musical journey».

The debut album «Entity» was released on October 2nd 2017, and received great reviews from the underground press, including a very rare 100/100 score from the Italian webzine Insane Voices Labirynth. The album is a concept album that told the story of a protagonist who isolates himself deeper and deeper into his own mind, in an attempt to escape from the real world. He finds shelter in the dark shadows of his own mind, but as a result of his isolation soon he finds himself forced to battle a demon he thought was long forgotten…

«Entity» was released as a digital album as well on a limited jewel case CD edition, pressed in only 330 copies. The vinyl edition was released in July 2018, and was limited to 100 hand numbered copies.

Ever since the release of «Entity», Lunde kept writing a follow-up album, which was released on November 23rd 2020. «Entity, Chapter II: Echoes from a Cognitive Dystopia» continued the concept where the debut left off, and marks the conclusion of the story. Whereas «Entity» was fairly atmospheric and melodic death/prog oriented, «Chapter II» has a slightly more direct expression. Still it retains the progressive orientation, with more symphonic elements and higher in tempo and intensity, qualities that are often typical to the power metal genre.

The album was released digitally and on a limited 6 panel digipack CD, pressed in 200 copies only. A vinyl edition is scheduled for release in March 2020, also limited to 100 handnumbered copies only.

In addition to the two physical albums, Moonscape’s discography also counts two singles, an anniversary reissue (Name Your Price on BandCamp) and an EP, all released during 2020.

MOONSCAPE’s discography includes the following releases:

Entity

– full length album (October 2017)

The Throes of Desperation

– digital single (January 2020)

Entity

– digital reissue to commemorate the 5 year anniversary of MOONSCAPE’s formation (February 2020)

Here With You – acoustic single (May 2020)

Resurgence E.P.

– digital E.P. released as a teaser to the new album, including two cover songs (September 2020)

Entity, Chapter II: Echoes from a Cognitive Dystopia

– full length album (November 2020)

All of MOONSCAPE’s releases are available on all major streaming services, and physical products can be purchased at moonscape.bandcamp.com.
