TYRANNUS RELEASE "IT TAKETH"

PRESS RELEASE:

Tyrannus

It Taketh

Independent, Born Too Late Tapes

27 July 2021

Location: Scotland

Genre: Black/Death/Thrash Metal w/ (Psychedelic atmosphere)

FFO: Absu, Mystifier, and Mortuary Drape.

Scottish extreme metal group Tyrannus presents the demo, It Taketh, which originally came digitally on 25 June 2021, and later got released on cassettes via Born Too Late Tapes on 27 July 2021.

Formed in 2018 by Callum John Cant and Alasdair Dunn, Tyrannus concurrently brings forth ruination and obliviousness. In 2019, soon after the formation, the Scottish duo unleashed the self-titled EP, which mostly dwells in the dominion fierce black/death metal, conjuring an agile speed/thrash metal vivacity.

While the first EP is very much an example of Tyrannus figuring out their sound but perhaps not being committed enough to an approach yet, the latest demo release, It Taketh, ushered in the new dawn as the band finally untangled their songcrafting approaches and tracked down their fully-realized vision. The songs on the demo can perhaps be labeled as “psychedelic thrashy black/death metal,” due to the erratic appearances of eerie, demoniacal synth passages. Although the psychedelic atmosphere inflicts an atypical experience on this escapade, the calamitous, barbaric blackened death metal is still the spine of this three-track demo release.

Tyrannus has recently expanded the lineup by adding Alistair Harley on bass. He will be featured on the debut full-length, which is currently in process.

States the band:

“The ‘It Taketh’ demo is meant to be a taster of more to come from Tyrannus — an album which takes varied influences and warps them into a concept and a story with themes of Lovecraftian horror and antifascism. We want people to listen to this demo and to be as excited as we are for what's next to come from us. We firmly believe in the music we have written and are looking forward to finally sharing our fully realized vision.”

I HELVETE RELEASE SINGLE FROM NEW ALBUM: "VIHAPUHE"

PRESS RELEASE:

"Vihapuhe" (hate speech; English translation) is the first single of i Helvete’s upcoming debut album "SINISTEN PUIDEN NIITTY". Combining heavy riffs, beautiful melodies and harsh/growl vocals, the band has the sound of their own. Finnish lyrics make the music even more unconventional.

You can listen to the new single at this location: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHAxiaK983A

Their concept album is about the struggle for survival of an individual's life. In the story, this person has to question his own meaning in this world. Band’s singer-guitarist Aleksi Mäkelä comments the album:

“It took some time to write the album. I wrote these six songs over two years. However, the album's theme and name were already known before any notes were written. The intention was to make a seriously poetic, raw, yet beautiful album. Vihapuhe was a perfect single because it includes all these elements. It was also a clear single choice just because it is the shortest song on a record with pretty long songs.”

i Helvete has grown to a full line-up after their debut release "Pimeyden Ytimessä / Umpikuja", which was released in 2018. After a long break of writing new music, the band released a cover of Bathory’s Twilight of the Gods last month.

"SINISTEN PUIDEN NIITTY" will be released on 26th November. Before that, another single from the band is promised. The album has been mixed by Teemu Aalto and mastered by Samu Oittinen. Both of the sound engineers are known for working with big Finnish metal bands like Insomnium.

SOMNENT RELEASE "GARDENS FROM GRAVES"

PRESS RELEASE:

“Sometimes the strongest ones are the ones who cry the most. Sometimes the bravest ones carry the greatest fear. Those who learn to heal are the ones who have hurt the worst.”

Beneath the soil of scars and tears, nestled within a loam of lonely, silent nights and days blighted by cold stares and barbed words lie the patient seeds of fresh hope. A kernel of strength, a tiny heart of iron hidden within the darkness, waiting for the sun. Within the boneyard of loss and spite, behind the door of the sepulchre of pain, small eyes wait and watch for the memories to fade and the clouds of oppression to part...

The pain of emotional abuse and the determination to overcome its lasting wounds, the days of despair along the path to recovery, the suffocating darkness that threatens to overwhelm and that desperate, agonising but wonderful breath of hard fought for air; all of these infuse the intensely melancholic but utterly beautiful melodic death doom metal of Somnent’s new album. Gardens From Graves has the power to carry your heart through each step of this journey and it’s a listening experience that will leave you breathless. There is an honesty and integrity of emotion within these songs that goes far beyond any form of artistry or artifice. The sheer weight of sorrow can at times leave you frantic to escape the gloom, a living thing buried in its sleep, clawing through the earth. Yet the moments of peace, the beautiful melodies woven by the guitar and vocals are sublime. The greatest art is that which makes the listener or beholder feel – deeply and passionately – and the chalice of Gardens From Graves is overflowing with emotion. The rhythms align with your heartbeat, the lead work carries your spirit and the voice immerses your soul in a lake of tears – of pain, of sadness and hope.

Gardens From Graves is the realisation of all the potential displayed on Somnent’s previous releases, the Eventide EP of 2015 and the full length debut album, Sojourn, which came out in 2017. Featuring a guest appearance from Jari Lindholm (Enshine, Exgenesis) and evocative artwork created by Augusto Peixoto (Sinister Realm, In Solitude etc) this exquisite tome of doomed, melancholic metal will be released on October 25th by GS Productions. As winter draws in, clouds will cover the sky and your hearts will be forged anew in the cold flames of grief.

“This sorrow won't last forever, even if some scars remain”
