VOSFORIS RELEASE "COSMIC CENOTAPH"

PRESS RELEASE:

Vosforis

Cosmic Cenotaph

Inner Hell Records

6 December 2024

Cosmic Cenotaph, produced by Russ Russell and Simon White, contains a dark yet cathartic listening experience. From the incomprehensible, imagining of the end of time and space, to explorations turned inward, to the human psyche, Cosmic Cenotaph offers intensity and intrigue.

Simon White explains the concept behind the album: "Conceptually, when I first started thinking about this album, in a cliched sort of way I thought of it like a triptych similar to Bosch’s ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’. Each panel being a collection of ideas to draw inspiration from for the lyrics.

I abstracted this idea into a circular hierarchy starting at a single point on earth with an individual, then increasing the radius of the circle to include the planet, nearby planets, and alien life. Then lastly to increase the radius of the circle to include the universe and the outer edges of spacetime that decay/breakdown into chaos."

The album explores three main themes. From the human perspective, the album delves into the darkest experiences; existential angst, depression, nihilism, mortality, suicide, and anger. Looking beyond our realms, out into the cosmos, explores bigger questions and possibilities: "[the album questions] our place in the cosmos and relationship to other intelligent life, if it exists. Did we signal ourselves to the universe when we started testing thermonuclear weapons? Are they concerned about us weaponising space and how we would be viewed as a technologically advanced species as we travel from earth? Furthermore, are we being visited already, and what does their technological ability tell us about our current understanding of physics etc." And thirdly, Cosmic Cenotaph ventures into the occult. "We see this kind of 'abyss gazing' often in philosophy, art, music, etc.", Simon adds. "This feeling of being observed by the object of our contemplation."

KOZORIA RELEASE "THE SOURCE"

PRESS RELEASE:

Kozoria

The Source

Black Lion Records

11 October 2024

Black Lion Records is thrilled to present The Source, French progressive metal band Kozoria’s debut album, set for release on 11 October on CD and digital platforms.

Formed in 2016, Paris-based Kozoria stands at the crossroads between Gojira’s aggressive intensity and Devin Townsend’s eclectic artistry, all while rooted in thrash and death metal, and accented by progressive, modern flair. Known for their intense, dynamic, and interactive live performances, the French quartet has already made their mark on concert halls and festivals across France (Keudfest, Normandy Metal Fest, Metal Story, Rock’N’Live, etc.), sharing stages with prominent acts in the progressive and metal scenes.

On The Source, Kozoria paints a romantic and dramatic universe, with each track depicting a story that explores the anxieties of human beings facing the violence of their own emotions. The hostility of these environments often mirrors internal conflicts, intertwined with paradoxes.

Capturing a dark and visceral energy, with songwriting that serves contemporary narratives, the album unfolds with polyphonic layers that create contrasts, induce dual meanings, evoke ironic twists, or invigorate the main melodies. Though darkness pervades the album, moments of brightness and vitality break through, offering hope amidst the chaos.

With the new album on the horizon, Kozoria is eager to embark on a European tour.
