PRESS RELEASE:

Formed in 2006, Death's Eminence has been on a journey to push the bounds of blackened technical death metal with a heavy progressive dose. It was mixed by Greg Wilkinson at Earhammer Studios in Oakland, California; and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege in Portland, Oregon.

All music and lyrics composed and written by Chris Carlin.

HEX A.D. RELEASE "FUNERAL TANGO FOR GODS AND MEN"

PRESS RELEASE:

Band: Hex A.D.

Album: Funeral Tango for Gods & Men

Country: Norway

Genre: Prog/Doom

Label: Fresh Tea

Release date: October 22, 2021

It takes more than a global pandemic and a lockdown to stop a band like Hex A.D.! Instead of going into hibernation and disappearing, they were well into writing and recording new songs only a few weeks after the release of “Astro Tongue in the Electric Garden” last February. As singer and guitarist Rick Hagan says:

“It was easy to see how this whole thing would affect the music business, and we just went straight into this new project instead of hoping for a possible gig or two. Actually it was great to be able to focus all my attention on this new record and not have to worry about playing live while recording it.”

Musically this new album is a darker and deeper ride than the other records in the band’s catalogue. In addition to that, “Funeral Tango for Gods & Men” has turned out to be the band’s most varied work to date. Listeners may be surprised to discover Eagles inspired guitar and vocal harmonies; old school blues riffs and catchy hooks combined with the band’s ever present trademarks such as big epic passages, doomy riffs, vivid storytelling and mysterious atmospheres!

“This record includes my most personal and honest lyrics to date,” says singer and lyricist Hagan. “I love to write about horror movies and creepy stuff, and I have gone there on a few songs this time too, but I have for the first time included deeper and more personal themed lyrics.”

The band’s unofficial 5th member Rowan Robertson, of Dio-fame, contributes to two of the albums tracks. His leads are again a testimony to his outstanding abilities as a solo guitarist, and his melodic and creative solos on the songs “Hell Hath No Fury” and “All the Rage” show the same qualities that landed him the job with Dio back in 1989. The keen listener might be able to pick up a tip of the old hat to Blackmore, Beck and Gilmour in these amazing moments of world class fretwork.

Rowan is not the only guest guitarist to add to this layered piece of work. Norway’s definitive guitar hero and hard rock icon Ronni Le Tekrö pushes the album’s closer “Positively Draconian” right over the edge with his classic and unmistakable runs. His artistic flare fits right in with Hex A.D.’s rather grand sound, and it is not by coincidence that he plays on the last track on the album.

All in all “Funeral Tango for Gods & Men” is the undaunted work by a band that’s getting bolder and bolder with every release, a band that dares to use a familiar language to tell untold classic stories.

"Funeral Tango for Gods & Men" will be released October 22nd 2021 by Fresh Tea.

Pre-order a copy from Tiger record store or directly from the label Fresh Tea.

CROWORD RELEASE "CRIMSON GAZE" EP

PRESS RELEASE:

Band: Croword

Album: Crimson Gaze

Country: Austria

Genre: Melodic Death Metal

Label: NRT-Records

Release date: September 3, 2021

CROWORD is an emerging Austrian Metal band around mastermind and bass player Lukas Rappitsch which lets resound a great and massive Melodic Death Metal symphony with their new 4 track EP “Crimson Gaze”. The new opus will be released on September 3, 2021, via NRT Records and additionally contains the live session “Live Is More Than Just Breathing” as bonus material.

This concert features eleven songs from their two previous releases, perfectly reflecting the band’s intense sound, which was strongly inspired by the Gothenburg Death Metal scene of the 1990s, merging with influences from Rock, Jazz and Classical music to create a unique blend. The harbinger of the second album planned for 2022 has been recorded at the Austrian Kochplatte Studio and Elophos Hill Studios.

Andreas Koch has been responsible for the mix of the EP and none other than Jens Bogren (Fascination Street Studios), who already worked with Opeth, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy and many others, has been won over for the mastering. The songs are inspired by painters such as Egon Schiele and Arnold Böcklin, who dealt with the abysses and peaks of human nature about 100 years ago. Fans of musically and lyrically sophisticated Melodic Death Metal should definitely risk more than a listen!

Founded in 2012 in Styria, CROWORD put themselves in the public spotlight for the first time in 2016 with their demo EP “Manifest Of Mortal Sickness” and the lyric video for the title track, which was recognized with great appreciation in the international Metal scene.

About a year later, CROWORD released their first album “The Great Beyond”, which presented a band that proved even more authenticity, technical finesse, power and depth compared to their debut. With their new EP and the accompanying live session, the Austrians will once again show the world what good Melodic Death Metal sounds like. The talented and charismatic bass player and bandleader Lukas Rappitsch, as well as the experienced drummer Johannes Eder, set a complex and catchy rhythm with their bass and drum line, which underscores the rough vocals of CROWORD’s new shouter Adrian Schattovits appealingly.

With their unique solos, masterfully performed by their guitarist duo Julian Schattovits and Dino Sulic, the young band makes powerful statements. Backed by melodic and precisely placed guitars, the opener and title track “Crimson Gaze”, which will be released as the first single, describes with harsh vocals how fear and hatred give way to sheer brutality and the border to sanity tears. The following two tracks “Isle Of The Dead” and “Death And The Maiden” are poetic as well as contrasting in content and sound, presenting a symphony of passing innocence, love and a death that always finds who it is looking for.

The grand finale of the 4 track EP and at the same time the second single is a statement for the freedom of art and creativity, wonderfully depicted in the sociocritical track “Secession (Where All The Reasons Are Lost)”, where heavy riffs meet quiet acoustics. The cover artwork, designed by Irrwisch Artdesign (Mudhoney, Sólstafir, Dool), gives the whole thing a fitting touch, along with red glowing eyes drilling into the depths of the soul. The additional live session “Live Is More Than Just Breathing”, which can be accessed exclusively via a link in the CD booklet, will be a special treat for CROWORD’s fan community. Besides the live versions of the four new songs, it also comes with the last years’ best-of tracks, performed with raw emotion and a lot of sweaty passion in the premises of the Austrian University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.

The songs of CROWORD convince with diverse compositions, a proper portion of heaviness and clear melodies, which in their foundations carry the sound of great bands such as In Flames, At The Gates or Dark Tranquillity. With “Crimson Gaze” the band moves one step closer to the center of the European Melodic Death Metal scene.
