Biography: The dark Tuscan combo was born in Pisa in July 2001, under the will of bassist Andrea Das Cox and singer-guitarist Luis McFadden, historical members who are still part of the line-up. In April 2002 they released their first EP "Beyond". In 2005 they released their first full length "Wayside", the album attracted the attention of New LM Records, who offered the band an important contract. At the same time they began to compose material for the new album "Soul Expression" which was released in October 2007 with the entry of Anton Chaney on drums (Death SS, Rhumornero, Tossic). With the new album Motus Tenebrae deservedly earned the title of one of the best gothic doom metal bands in the Italian music scene. In 2009 the concept album "The Synthetic Bliss" was released. In 2012, Luis McFadden left the band and was replaced by Valerio Voliani (Diesanera) and on december Revalve Records released the album "Double Black". In 2014 the frontman Luis returned on a permanent basis and saw the entry of Andrea Falaschi (Deathless Legacy) behind the drums. In the meantime a new contract was signed with My Kingdom Music and on January 25, 2016 the album "Deathrising" was released. After a long break, the band is ready to share its stylistic and musical evolution, and the release of "In Sorrow's Requiem", a new longawaited album, is scheduled for May 8, 2026.

TRIBUNAL will be touring in support of their acclaimed debut LP, The Weight Of Remembrance, released in June of 2023 on 20 Buck Spin. Featuring classically trained cellist/bassist/vocalist Soren Mourne and guitarist/vocalist Etienne Flinn, TRIBUNAL’s brick-heavy classic doom riffage borders on death metal heaviness, like My Dying Bride filtered through a colossal stained-glass edifice. The sound is instantly familiar with nods to the ‘80s and ‘90s but never sounds retro or like mere homage. Rather, The Weight Of Remembrance evokes the feeling of a painstakingly composed orchestral movement fit for a crumbling cathedral overgrown with moss. The duo frequently trades off vocals alternating between haunted wailing cleans, scathing black-metal style shrieks and dread-filled death calls.

The Weight Of Remembrance features additional contributions from several other talented musicians, including drums by Julia Geaman, additional drums on “Apathy’s Keep” by Magdalena Wienski, piano on “Remembrance” by Claine Lamb, and additional vocals by Rory Say. The album was recorded by TRIBUNAL except for the primary drums which were recorded by Andrew Conroy at Fifth Chord Studios and Wienski’s drums which were recorded by Violetta Macri at CJSF, after which the songs were mixed and mastered by Markov Soroka. The beautifully painted cover artwork was created by Soren Mourne, with lettering and frame by Karmazid, photography by Liam Kanigan, and layout by Dan Fried completing the presentation. Steeped in the black velvet finery of gothic doom metal, the band weaves dark tales of ultimate judgement, never-ending rain, and forsaken despair.

Most of the music of ‘Order of the mist’ was composed before the first rehearsals of HYLDR by guitarist VI. When he met the singer he was eager to hear what Lady IX would do with it.

Synesthesia kicked in and the rich melodies turned into metal operas, telling old folktales that would soon turn into a book. These stories of a young supernatural girl from Hokkaido who ends up trapped in a world of deadly Norse mythology, form a map that guides every song of the album.

The specific order of the songs does not follow the chronology of the “Hyldr Chronicles”, but slices the story up like a dissected corpse. The orchestrated guitar duets and vocal choirs pull the strings of every character. The drums and bass drive the mist forwards, bringing the protagonists back to life every time the record is played.

The album title refers to rulers of the underworld in Nebelwood Forest where the shape-shifting Huldra folk have the power to bring back the dead. This occult order uses the mist to manipulate the realms of humans and force them to fight a never ending battle. The idea of the mist having some kind of order is an intentional paradox, although the mist occurs at specific times of day or night depending on temperature, air pressure and humidity. But does the mist orderly invade our lands or is it a chaotic outburst of climatic chemistry? Only the Huldra know…

VI comments : “The Wavelight Factory was the perfect place to record the album. We had plenty of time to experiment percussive elements and tons of arrangements. I like the fact that we did not use any choirs plugin for vocals, all voices were recorded by Lady IX.“

One-man bands allow for so much freedom, and for those who are blessed with creativity it can lead to prolific output in a shorter space of time than groups. One such solo project is Drift into Black, led by ex-Grey Skies Fallen keyboardist Craig Rossi. With his fourth release Patterns of Light, the New Yorker continues a trend of four releases in four years in synth-driven gloom, inspired by the European vein of melodic doom-death metal.

Patterns of Light is proof that, just because you have a formula to work with, does not mean you are confined to it. While many of the songs here draw from the same quarters as Saturnus, My Dying Bride and Ghost Brigade, they also shy away from copycatting the above-mentioned bands. There are many interesting discoveries to be found, whether the guitar melodies on “The Burial Gown”, the prog-metal synthesizers that recall Amorphis’ finest on “Among the Beast”, the post-punk beats on “Thread of Hope”, or the dual vocal effects alternating between soft cleans and underwater-recorded growls.

It’s not just the music that demands a look-in, though - Rossi has designed another concept album with a dark, dark storyline to follow. The plot tells of loss and grief, religion and revenge; there’s even a twist to a surprisingly happy ending for such melancholic music. Sombria is a dark/doom melancholic metal project which has been formed by singer/songwriter Dimi De San who, for the purposes of this project comes under the name ‘’Valentina Devin’’ and guitarist/composer ’’Seven Raven’’.

Dimi De San’s music path started on 2012 with the formation of the band Caelestia which had been leading up to 2019. Then she decided to stop and join forces with Raven Seven creating this ‘dramatic’, full of emotions project meant to mark the musicians’ music path, -Sombria-.

Both musicians have worked with big names of the metal industry like Toni Lindgren from Fascination Street Studios and Fredrik Nordström, Bjorn ‘’Speed’’ Strid of SOILWORK, drummer Markus ‘’Makka’’ Freiwald of SODOM and collaborated with big artists and directors like Seth Siro Anthon (Septic Flesh, Paradise Lost, Moonspell etc), Gogo Melone (Aeonian Sorrow) and Matthias Kolleg (Kreator, Lacrimosa etc).

Their live appearances are numerous appearing with important bands like Katatonia, Arch Enemy, Insomnium, Draconian among others, including raven seven‘s very successful collaborations at big metal festivals.

Both have been featured several times in various magazines, with full interviews and live performances while also appearing in numerous tv and web shows.

Dimi’s successful tour on 2019 with Norwegian “Vulture industries”, “Hellheim” and “Madder Mortem” marked the beginning of SOMBRIA as a life project. 

Its main purpose apart from featuring music, acting and dancing is aiming to raise awareness -through their music, lyrics and performances- over many sensitive subjects like child poverty, environmental issues, equality, taboo topics etc. and also focusing on helping people in need as much as possible.

“Chirographon Dei” is Sombria’s debut full-length album consisting of 9 songs, recorded, mixed and mastered by (Seven Raven) in Raven Seven’s studio.

All of the songs have been composed by seven raven and lyrics created by Dimi De San (Valentina Devin).

The album has been released by Finnish Inverse Records.

A music video for ‘’Voyage Into Lethe’’ has been already released as well as a video lyric for ‘’Sarcophagus Of Roses’’.

The song represents a new sonic exploration featuring a novel use of shamanic percussions and dissonating brass arrangements. Today, DRACONIAN, the sovereigns of melancholic Gothic Doom Metal and far-reaching lyrics, release their fourth single, "Moon Over Sabaoth", cut from their upcoming studio album, Under A Godless Veil, out October 30, 2020 via Napalm Records. CHeck the lyric video below these lines.

The seventh full-length of the Swedish five-piece and second one with talented Heike Langhans on vocal duties, appears exactly five years after DRACONIAN’s latest album, Sovran, and guarantees a complete immersion into the band’s essence. Starting off with a soft guitar intro, DRACONIAN's new single "Moon Over Sabaoth" soon breaks off into Anders Jacobsson’s ghastly growls paired with a stomping doomy rhythm. Complemented by Heike's angelic voice, the vocals will touch deep inside your soul and interweave with stunning melodies and bone-crushing riffs. An artful conceptualized lyric video underlines these atmospheric tunes of melancholic beauty.

Under a Godless Veil delivers a captivating mélange of dreary doom and contrasting vocals. The first notes of the opener will immediately draw the listener into a void of interweaving beauty, coalescing with paralyzing depression that leaves nothing but the desire of total immersion in the whole record. Under a Godless Veil carries the legacy of gothic doom metal à la My Dying Bride into a new decade of the genre.

DRACONIAN states: “To DRACONIAN, Under a Godless Veil is by far the most diverse album we have created. Inspired by some of the music closest to Johan’s heart; everything from traditional Doom to scaled-down, Gothic rock-inspired pieces and more. Some will perhaps describe the songs as more refined and meditative. Some ambient elements have been added to the mix without overshadowing the traditional characteristics that are DRACONIAN.
