SOME WORDS ABOUT THE ALBUM:

“'Shadows In The Night' has been in the making for quite some time, if you take into account the songwriting process as well as the recording process. I think I speak for us all when I say that we believe we’ve raised the bar in comparison to our debut EP, “Deeper Shades Of Torment”. When it comes to lyrical context, this song is based around aliens impersonating humans/doppelgängers. We wanted this to portray a very 80’s thriller film vibe and there are other hints to this theme throughout the album like on the instrumental track ‘Dreamland’.

The album contains something for everyone, from a stylistic perspective and in a lyrical sense. Songs such as ‘Shadows in The Night’, ‘Destroyer’ and ‘Lost Nor Found’ were written to appeal to all the Speed Metal Maniacs in our fanbase, whereas cuts like “Forever” and “Where The River Meets The Sea” delve more into our melodic side, and may potentially even speak to new audiences not yet part of our community. Shadows In The Night is definitely an album where any music fan, not strictly Rock or Heavy Metal, can find something that they enjoy, for one reason or another.

From a songwriting and influence perspective, a few of the songs on the album have been main stays of our live set since the “Deeper Shades Of Torment” mini album era, particularly “For Even Gods Can Die”, which seems to be a fan favourite live track!

It’s difficult to say what the overall influence on the album has been, as we’ve all got fairly eclectic music tastes. Most of us have our roots firmly planted in the Heavy Metal of the 70s and 80s, whilst others may be more inclined to bands of the 2000s. There are shades of all eras of metal throughout the album. Tracks like ‘The Other Side Of Midnight’ and ‘For Even Gods Can Die’ carrying the traditional NWOBHM gallop, with gang vocals, melody and lyrics more akin to a vintage record from bands like Saxon, Praying Mantis or Tygers Of Pan Tang.

On the other hand, ‘Spellbound’ takes vintage riffing, and conjoins it with a more modern rhythm section style beat, that all melds together and climaxes creating one of my personal favourite choruses of the record. Think Dokken style riffs, with Avenged Sevenfold drums and bass, with lyrics about being on the victim side of a narcissistic relationship, with a vocal delivery that blends James Hetfield with Noora Louhimo… believe me when I say this album has something for everybody haha!

Lyrically, the album explores a variety of topics, ranging from real world issues such as corruption, over-modernisation of day to day life and the human struggle with mental health. Other topics delve further into more supernatural, fantastical themes such as religion, demonic entities and extraterrestrial beings… we can’t wait to share this with the world and let our fans make their own interpretations of our lyrics!

Two standout tracks would be ‘Breakdown’ and ‘Where The River Meets The Sea’ due to their lyrical content. ‘Breakdown’ explores the topic of mental health, but in less of a straight up, black and white depiction. The song explores themes of wanting to reach out to a religious figure in times of need, but feeling ignored, loosing faith all together and battling suicidal thoughts. I think that some of the lyrics particularly the ones used in the verses, are some of my favourites on the album. For example using ‘Ending, won’t be a 1056A’ is a very powerful lyric and if you know what a 1056A is then you will know why.

“Where The River Meets The Sea” is completely different from anything we’ve done before, musically and lyrically. This song explores the overarching subject of modern life, and the human yearning to go back to older ways of life, written from the perspective of a woman. The song contains lyrics that I believe are Rowena’s best writing ever, with a mix of metaphorical and literal phrases, this song is a true love letter to mother nature and the relationship she and many other women long have with it. It is a rejection to the ideals that modern life has crammed us into and the fact that living amongst nature is considered almost a fantasy.

The influences on the album as a whole range all the way from Anthrax, Dio, Testament, Judas Priest and WASP, to Alter Bridge, Ghost, Enforcer and even smaller, underground bands such as The Wran or High Fade.

We truly believe that we’ve created a diverse, gripping, and engaging 21st century Heavy Metal record, and are dying to share with our fans what we’ve been working on…

Electric Banshee was formed in 2025 in London, England by José Rivera. Their music is inspired by themes like witchcraft, nightmares and cosmic horror and influenced by different styles within the metal genre. PainDemic Unleash Debut Single "FWF" Across All Streaming Platforms Ahead of Full-Length Album McGovney’s House Party

Heavy melodic metal outfit PainDemic have officially released their debut single, "FWF," now available on Spotify and all major digital streaming platforms as of February 27, 2026. The track serves as the first official recording from the project and the opening chapter of their upcoming full-length album, McGovney's House Party , scheduled for Spring 2027 via No Life Till Metal, with early release activity through Gutted Records on Bandcamp.

PainDemic is built on a foundation of deep American metal history and a fresh surge of new energy. The rhythm section features Gary Monardo (bass) alongside drummer Johnnie Tabares, both widely known for their work on landmark recordings with Hirax, including Raging Violence and Hate, Fear and Power . While Tabares is no longer an active member of the band moving forward, his performance remains part of the recorded foundation of this early material.

On vocals, Rob Perkins brings a long and varied history in the underground. In the early 1980s, Perkins performed in Wargod alongside legendary drummer Gene Hoglan and guitarist Michelle Meldrum before later reuniting with Monardo and Tabares in Cold Blood during the late 1980s demo era.

Leading the next generation of the lineup is guitarist Cheyenne Scott, a rising talent awarded the Cliff Burton Scholarship in 2023, named in honor of the late Metallica bassist. The award recognized her early passion for "Creeping Death" and her dedication to developing her craft within the spirit of classic heavy metal.

Production for "FWF" and the upcoming album is handled by legendary producer Bill Metoyer, known for his work with Slayer, Flotsam and Jetsam, Armored Saint, and many other cornerstone acts of the genre. Recording took place at Travis Dickerson Recording Studio in Chatsworth, California, in August 2025, with mixing and mastering completed in December 2025.

Sonically, PainDemic pulls from the roots of classic heavy metal, thrash aggression, and melodic weight, built for listeners who still value grit, songwriting, and raw energy over digital polish.

For fans of Anthrax, Metallica, and Slayer, PainDemic sits right in that lineage where thrash attitude meets heavy metal tradition. Early algorithmic support on Spotify has already linked the project to these cornerstone artists, reinforcing the band's natural placement in the modern heavy metal ecosystem.

The visual identity remains raw and hand-crafted. Band artwork is created by Fae Kington, while the logo was hand-drawn by Dea Monardo, keeping the aesthetic grounded in traditional metal presentation.

With "FWF" now streaming worldwide, PainDemic continues building momentum toward the release of McGovney's House Party , currently in its final writing stages ahead of a Spring 2027 release.

IX OF BLADES RELEASE "WAY OF THE MIDNIGHT WAVE"

IX of Blades, the brainchild of acclaimed horror author Curtis M. Lawson, is set to unleash their first full-length album, "Way of The Midnight Wave". This ambitious concept album, deeply inspired by cultural myth cycles and philosophical works such as Friedrich Nietzsche's Thus Spake Zarathustra, promises a profound journey through enlightenment, conflict, and self-discovery.

"Way of The Midnight Wave" chronicles the epic narrative of Ri Elotha, a Miltonian hero, as he navigates a path of personal growth, confronts tyrannical forces, and ultimately faces his demise. Lawson, renowned in the indie horror scene for his compelling novels and short fiction, seamlessly blends his literary prowess with his musical vision, crafting a narrative that is as intricate as it is impactful.

The album's sound is a unique fusion of classic heavy metal, black metal, doom, post-punk, and neo-crust, delivering a cohesive and distinctive sonic experience. Despite its high-level production, the album retains an old-school sensibility, ensuring a raw and powerful delivery. Recorded and produced at Seraphim Studios by Robb Kavjian (known for his work with 1476 and Monastery), Kavjian also lent his talents as session drummer and bassist for the project.

About IX of Blades: Founded in 2023, IX of Blades began as the one-man project of horror writer Curtis M. Lawson (author of Black Heart Boys’ Choir and Devil’s Night). Following two EPs and several singles, the project has evolved into a formidable live band, featuring former and current members of The Innsmouth Look and 1476. Eschewing an orthodox approach to black metal, IX of Blades merges various elements of heavy music with a punk rock attitude and the poetic, yet gritty lyricism that is a trademark of Lawson’s fiction and poetry. Gutter dwellin' rock n roll from Baltimore, MD!

Formed in 2018 by members of Nux Vomica, Deathammer, and Raw Filth who wanted to strike a sound somewhere between their love of 80’s metal and rock n roll swagger with punk grit. Months of gigging and developing their style led them to comparisons with classic bands straddling those same lines such as Motörhead and Venom, with their self released demo in 2019.

After some lineup changes and higher profile gigs opening for BAT, Poison Ruin, and a spot on Maryland Deathfest, they released their self-titled full length in 2022. Total Maniac sets apart from their contemporaries by authentically not giving a fuck about fitting into a narrow box.

VANISHMENT began in 2019 taking inspiration from classic thrash and heavy metal bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth and Judas Priest, the group spent several months between 2020-2021 writing, rehearsing and eventually recording their debut effort, ‘No More Torture,’ which was self-released in 2023. The album displayed the band’s raw energy and aggressive sound, and was met with a tsunami of critical praise. HyperioN were formed in 2015 by drummer Jason Beghelli and guitarist Davide Cotti to play traditional heavy metal, drawing inspiration from bands such as Metal Church, early Queensrÿche, and Judas Priest, while adding their own personal touch.

The band quickly gained attention with their debut album Dangerous Days (2017), released via Spanish label Fighter Records. The album was warmly welcomed by critics and gave HyperioN the chance to share thestage with established Italian acts such as Tarchon Fist, Black Phantom, and Rain.

After the recording of the second album, founding drummer Jason Beghelli stepped down for personal reasons and was replaced by Francesco Madonna. In 2020, the band released Into The Maelstrom, again on Fighter Records. The album received excellent reviews worldwide, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of all live promotion plans. Despite the circumstances, HyperioN significantly expanded their fanbase across the United States, Canada,

Mexico, and Europe through platforms like Bandcamp, finally returning to the stage in 2021.

This first era of the band came to a turning point in 2021, when several lineup changes reshaped HyperioN’s identity. Long-time bassist Antonio Scalia left the band, and after a long search Simone Cauli joined in September 2022. Just a week earlier, guitarist Luke Fortini had departed, but the vacant role was swiftly filled by Francis Dipasquale (from thrashers Dypron). With the lineup restored, work began on new material, only to face another setback in spring 2023 when vocalist Michelangelo Carano decided to leave.

After months of auditions, HyperioN found the missing piece in singer Max Morelli, known for his work with Signum Draconis and Ladykiller. With this new and revitalized lineup, Hyperion completed the writing and production of their third album Cybergenesis, a record that represents both continuity and rebirth. Although only guitarist Davide Cotti remains from the original formation, he has always been the main composer and driving force behind the band, making sure HyperioN's sound stays true to its roots: driving riffs that ignite into bursts of speed, soaring yet gritty vocals, and melodic hooks that make every chorus memorable.

Arched Fire is back with a banger! The new single “So Far” reveals a rarely seen side of the Finnish metal band.

“I went through Kristian’s demo folder and found this gem of a song that had been lying there for a while already”, says Ari Väntänen. “I thought it had a great hook and that it would be cool to release something different for a change. I mean, we aren’t really known for pretty ballads, are we?” 

More mournful than pretty, the song weighs on you like a looming storm until it exploding into a thundering middle part followed by cathartic final choruses, a gem of a song indeed. 

And the lyrics, you ask, what are they about? This is not a love song, that’s for sure.

“This is a song about the difficulties in communication. It relates to the false consensus effect, individualism, conformism and neurodiversity”, says Kristian Herkman, the man behind the music and the lyrics.

“In some societies you have to be like the others to cope,” the singer elaborates. “Some people are neurotypical and some are not. Sometimes neither have the best social skills.”

There certainly is room for improvement. Maybe emotional intelligence and structured communication should be subjects in school.

“People like different things and usually they like familiar things,” Kristian continues. “People fear uncertainty, so they want to be in control. Money is power and conformity makes the masses easier to control. The more you know, the more you know what there is yet to understand.”

CYBERPUNCH RELEASE DEBUT SINGLE: "RIDING WORMS"

Cyberpunch, a heavy, thrash, and gothic metal band from São Paulo founded in 2024, has just released its first single.

The band blends the epic influence of groups like Iron Maiden and Powerwolf with the weight and speed of bands such as Metallica and Megadeth, while also presenting a dark atmosphere strongly inspired by Rammstein.

The song Riding Worms showcases the band’s most epic side, mixing speed and melody both in the guitars and in the baritone vocals, which sets the band apart from the usual metal soundscape.

At first glance, the theme refers to the giant sandworms from the book Dune, but through metaphors it brings highly dramatic themes, philosophy, geopolitics, and class struggle.

Theatricality and stage presence have already become trademarks of the band, transporting the audience to Chromefall, the universe where their first album—scheduled for 2026—takes place. The band also has its own annual festival, Cyberfest, with guest bands, achieving a sold-out first edition at La Iglesia.
