Fueled by speed, swagger, and enough greasy energy to leave tire marks across the heavy music underground, Halifax's self-described "Nitro-Rock" maniacs Turbo are set to release their third full-length album, "Listen... Shut Up!", on October 23, 2026.

​Ahead of the release, the band is now streaming the album's latest single, "Formula One," a high-octane speed metal ripper that perfectly captures the hard-driving spirit at the heart of the new record. The album follows the band's acclaimed previous releases "Fast as Fvck" (2020) and "Broke and Ugly" (2024), further cementing Turbo's reputation for relentless songwriting, explosive live performances, and unapologetically loud rock and roll.

​​"We like our music hard, fast, and raw, and that's the kind of experience we're trying to give other people. We want to give people the same kind of punch-in-the-gut, 'this rollercoaster is more than a bit too fast' feeling that we crave," says Evan Frizzle (lead vocalist and lead guitarist).

As one of the record's most adrenaline-fueled offerings, "Formula One" charges forward with blazing riffs, hook-laden guitar work, and relentless momentum.

​​"It's another speedy locomotive of a track with great guitar work and a bunch of ear hooks. The middle train-beat comedown section might be one of my favorite parts on the whole album," says Frizzle.

​Lyrically, the track draws directly from Frizzle's turbulent past and real-life run-ins with the law, continuing the band's commitment to brutally honest storytelling and lived experience.

On "Listen... Shut Up!," Turbo takes listeners beyond the reckless highs of its earlier releases and into the fallout that follows. Still fueled by fist-pumping anthems, razor-sharp riffs, and the band's trademark swagger, the album explores the hard-earned lessons, scars, and consequences of a life lived at full speed.

Across eight explosive tracks, "Listen... Shut Up!" captures every facet of Turbo's unmistakable Nitro-Rock sound. From the breakneck intensity of "Kamikaze" and the self-reflective edge of "Don't Know Me" to the darker themes of "Deathwish Labyrinth," the album balances raw aggression with brutally honest storytelling. Tracks like "Slut Island" and "Best Wishes" deliver attitude, chaos, and infectious energy, while "Tell Your Daughter" and "Black Wings of Revenge" showcase a more nuanced side of the band's songwriting. Closing with the adrenaline-charged "Formula One," the album leaves listeners in a cloud of smoke, speed, and unforgettable hooks.

​​"Our first album, Fast as Fvck, felt like it was all about living in squalor, while Broke and Ugly had this invincible feeling like the party was never going to die. We're kind of thinking about this album as the hangover from all that. It's still hard, fast, heavy, and packed full of fun, still undeniably classic Turbo, but it feels more mature and refined in a lot of regards. We're incredibly proud of it," adds Frizzle.

Since forming in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Turbo has operated with a singular mission: create music that pushes harder, plays louder, and aims higher than anything they had previously experienced in their respective projects.

​​"The members of Turbo were already in heavy-hitting bands in Halifax's scene, but felt like their respective bands weren't living the lifestyle and pushing their music quite to the magnitude we desired. So we quickly quilted together a project under the banner of that desire, a plan to take over the world, and wanted to create a sound to match that drive," adds Frizzle. "

​That vision has evolved into a distinctive sound influenced by Motörhead, W.A.S.P., Judas Priest, Pantera, and Kill Cheerleader, blending speed metal, NWOBHM, sleaze rock, punk, and glam metal into what the band proudly calls Nitro-Rock.

​​"Everything is for the good of the song. If it doesn't work, it's scrapped. We have no personal stake or ego when we write. The songs are 100% a collaborative effort," commented Frizzle.

​​Turbo's reputation has grown through relentless touring and a live show that balances rock-and-roll spectacle with genuine authenticity. They walk the line between being a very down-to-earth group and being an absolute spectacle in how they present themselves, giving fans a fair dose of flash while still coming off as real people. Expect them to be wasted, twisted, nasty, and greasy. Fifteen years after the release of their self-titled debut, the heavy metal project founded by vocalist and producer Simon Efemey and Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury returns with a powerful celebration of classic heavy metal. Drawing inspiration from the timeless legacy of Judas Priest, Saxon, Black Sabbath, Dio and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, "Needs Must When The Devil Drives" combines old-school riffs, unforgettable melodies and larger-than-life songwriting with the energy and attitude of a new era.

The world is in meltdown, and we’re all going to hell in a handbasket. Thankfully, ABSOLUTE POWER are here to offer maximum-volume resistance to the madness with their monumental second album, "Needs Must When The Devil Drives".

ABSOLUTE POWER is the brainchild of vocalist and producer Simon Efemey and bassist/multi-instrumentalist Shane Embury, two heavy metal lifers who, between them, have left an indelible imprint on modern music.

Embury is the longtime bassist of grindcore pioneers Napalm Death, a band that began pushing music to its furthest extremes in the 1980s and has never stopped evolving. Efemey is one of the most influential British metal producers of his generation, having shaped the modern scene through his work with artists including Paradise Lost, The Wildhearts and Napalm Death, while also developing a reputation as one of the most charismatic figures behind the scenes.

Together, they spent five years crafting "Needs Must When The Devil Drives", an exhilarating tribute to the classic heavy metal they grew up with, infused with the energy and attitude of 2026.

“I want people to have a good time in the old school way,” says Efemey of the album. “I want them to forget the mundane, boring or horrible parts of their jobs. I want them to forget themselves for a couple of hours. That’s what good music should allow us all to do.”

The album continues the vision that originally brought ABSOLUTE POWER together: a desire to recapture the sense of adventure, grandeur and excitement that defined the heavy metal of their youth.

“When we did the first album, we wanted to make songs like our heroes – Judas Priest, Saxon, the New Wave of British Heavy Metal – everything we liked as kids,” explains Efemey. “When we were on tour buses, we’d have a few drinks and start blasting old-school heavy metal like Black Sabbath or Dio. One day we said we should write our own tunes like that.”

The debut album was embraced by fans of traditional metal, and "Needs Must When The Devil Drives" expands on that foundation, delivering a collection of songs built around powerful riffs, memorable hooks and a strong sense of identity. The title itself comes from an old proverb that Efemey and Embury would jokingly repeat to each other during the recording sessions.

Alongside the title track, "Saviour" and "Kernschmelze" showcase the band’s most direct and energetic side, while "Mountain Of Hope" increases the epic dimension that has always been central to ABSOLUTE POWER. Meanwhile, "Within" temporarily strips away some of the heaviness in favor of a more atmospheric and hypnotic approach, recalling the psychedelic spirit of 1970s classics such as Black Sabbath’s "Planet Caravan".

The album also features a reinterpretation of Queen’s 1978 classic "Sheer Heart Attack", preserving the original’s punk-driven energy while adding the unmistakable personality of ABSOLUTE POWER.

“The drums sounded terrible on it,” laughs Efemey.

For "Needs Must When The Devil Drives", Efemey and Embury invited several respected musicians to contribute to the album’s expansive sound. Former Judas Priest and Iced Earth vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens returns after appearing on the first record, delivering his unmistakable screams on the title track. The Mission and Tricky guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite adds subtle layers and textures to several songs, expanding the band’s traditional metal foundation.

“I’ve known him for years,” says Efemey. “I recorded a demo for his old band years ago. I sent him some tracks and he put some magic on them. He added a little goth flavour to some of those tracks. It took it further than the first album, which was just straight-down-the-line traditional metal.”

Also appearing on the record are Napalm Death guitarist John Cooke and drummer Carl Stokes, whose career includes collaborations with bands such as Cancer and The Groundhogs.

At the heart of ABSOLUTE POWER, however, remains the partnership between Efemey and Embury. Both grew up in the West Midlands and shared formative experiences attending concerts at Birmingham’s legendary Odeon before following very different paths: Embury becoming one of extreme metal’s defining musicians, and Efemey establishing himself as a highly respected producer.

“Over the years our paths crossed, and we realized we had a similar love for music and a similar sense of humour – Monty Python, The Young Ones, really dark humour,” says Efemey.

Throughout his career, Efemey has worked with artists ranging from British indie heroes The Wonder Stuff to extreme metal pioneers Napalm Death, but his influence has always extended far beyond production. His larger-than-life personality and his approach to music have made him a unique figure within the British scene.

“You hear the stories from back in the day about these legendary bands and the mad stuff they’d get up to,” he says. “For me, that’s part of rock’n’roll. I never wanted to just be the guy sitting there in the studio nodding along with what bands say. It was more about entertaining people and entertaining ourselves.”

Yet behind all the chaos, Efemey has always remained focused on the most important element: the songs.

“We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we’re serious about the music,” he says of ABSOLUTE POWER. “We reject ideas that aren’t good enough. Every song needs a good riff and a catchy melody. I wouldn’t let anything go out that was just fodder. That approach has always been prevalent in my work.”

That philosophy defines "Needs Must When The Devil Drives". The album carries the confidence of a band that knows exactly what it wants to achieve, embracing the foundations of classic heavy metal while sounding fully alive in 2026. As the world falls apart around them, ABSOLUTE POWER stand tall, armed with riffs, melodies and songs built to last.

“I can't think of many new British bands doing what we do,” says Efemey. “I think people like our stuff because it's old-school with melodies you can sing along to. We use the formula from the 70s and 80s because we know it works. We make this kind of music because we love it and we want people to sing along with us.”

KINGCROWN RELEASE "MOONFALL"

French melodic heavy/power metal band KINGCROWN releases their new album “Moonfall” today, September 4th, 2026, via Rockshots Records, accompanied by the official video for “We Are Kingcrown”.

For fans of Iron Maiden, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Masterplan, Symphony X and Powerwolf, “Moonfall” follows 2024’s “Nova Atlantis” and develops the band’s melodic heavy/power metal sound across ten tracks exploring technological evolution, artificial intelligence, temporal displacement, apocalypse and the uncertain future of humanity.

While these themes shape much of the album, “We Are Kingcrown” shifts the focus directly onto the band. Driven by a straightforward heavy/power metal approach, melodic guitars and an immediate chorus, the song reflects KINGCROWN’s identity and their connection with the audience.

As the band explains: “It’s simply about us, who we are, what we exude, what we want to give you. We are Kingcrown!”

“Moonfall” expands on the conceptual direction established with “Nova Atlantis”, using science-fiction and dystopian scenarios to examine different possible futures. The title track imagines a final encounter between the Moon and Earth as a lunar apocalypse approaches.

The technological theme takes a darker turn on “Rise Of Machines”, where artificial intelligence turns against humanity, while “All United” focuses on resistance and collective survival. Elsewhere, “A Thousand Years” draws on relativity and space travel, and “Lost Horizon” follows a World War II B-17 pilot caught in a temporal vortex and transported from 1945 to 2045.

The album also reconnects with the musical roots behind KINGCROWN through “Back To The 80’s”, a tribute to a decade that left a defining mark on heavy metal. Closing track “Beyond The Stars” brings the record’s futuristic narrative to its conclusion, looking beyond the destruction of Earth and towards what might exist elsewhere in the universe.

Produced by KINGCROWN, “Moonfall” was mixed and mastered by Simone Mularoni at Domination Studio, bringing together the band’s European melodic heavy and power metal roots with a contemporary production.

Kingcrown is a French melodic heavy/power metal band founded by brothers Jo Amore (vocals) and David Amore (drums), both former members of Nightmare.

The project traces its origins back to 2015 with the band Öblivïon, formed following their departure from Nightmare. SOME WORDS ABOUT THE ALBUM:

“'Shadows In The Night' has been in the making for quite some time, if you take into account the songwriting process as well as the recording process. I think I speak for us all when I say that we believe we’ve raised the bar in comparison to our debut EP, “Deeper Shades Of Torment”. When it comes to lyrical context, this song is based around aliens impersonating humans/doppelgängers. We wanted this to portray a very 80’s thriller film vibe and there are other hints to this theme throughout the album like on the instrumental track ‘Dreamland’.

The album contains something for everyone, from a stylistic perspective and in a lyrical sense. Songs such as ‘Shadows in The Night’, ‘Destroyer’ and ‘Lost Nor Found’ were written to appeal to all the Speed Metal Maniacs in our fanbase, whereas cuts like “Forever” and “Where The River Meets The Sea” delve more into our melodic side, and may potentially even speak to new audiences not yet part of our community. Shadows In The Night is definitely an album where any music fan, not strictly Rock or Heavy Metal, can find something that they enjoy, for one reason or another.

From a songwriting and influence perspective, a few of the songs on the album have been main stays of our live set since the “Deeper Shades Of Torment” mini album era, particularly “For Even Gods Can Die”, which seems to be a fan favourite live track!

It’s difficult to say what the overall influence on the album has been, as we’ve all got fairly eclectic music tastes. Most of us have our roots firmly planted in the Heavy Metal of the 70s and 80s, whilst others may be more inclined to bands of the 2000s. There are shades of all eras of metal throughout the album. Tracks like ‘The Other Side Of Midnight’ and ‘For Even Gods Can Die’ carrying the traditional NWOBHM gallop, with gang vocals, melody and lyrics more akin to a vintage record from bands like Saxon, Praying Mantis or Tygers Of Pan Tang.

On the other hand, ‘Spellbound’ takes vintage riffing, and conjoins it with a more modern rhythm section style beat, that all melds together and climaxes creating one of my personal favourite choruses of the record. Think Dokken style riffs, with Avenged Sevenfold drums and bass, with lyrics about being on the victim side of a narcissistic relationship, with a vocal delivery that blends James Hetfield with Noora Louhimo… believe me when I say this album has something for everybody haha!

Lyrically, the album explores a variety of topics, ranging from real world issues such as corruption, over-modernisation of day to day life and the human struggle with mental health. Other topics delve further into more supernatural, fantastical themes such as religion, demonic entities and extraterrestrial beings… we can’t wait to share this with the world and let our fans make their own interpretations of our lyrics!

Two standout tracks would be ‘Breakdown’ and ‘Where The River Meets The Sea’ due to their lyrical content. ‘Breakdown’ explores the topic of mental health, but in less of a straight up, black and white depiction. The song explores themes of wanting to reach out to a religious figure in times of need, but feeling ignored, loosing faith all together and battling suicidal thoughts. I think that some of the lyrics particularly the ones used in the verses, are some of my favourites on the album. For example using ‘Ending, won’t be a 1056A’ is a very powerful lyric and if you know what a 1056A is then you will know why.

“Where The River Meets The Sea” is completely different from anything we’ve done before, musically and lyrically. This song explores the overarching subject of modern life, and the human yearning to go back to older ways of life, written from the perspective of a woman. The song contains lyrics that I believe are Rowena’s best writing ever, with a mix of metaphorical and literal phrases, this song is a true love letter to mother nature and the relationship she and many other women long have with it. It is a rejection to the ideals that modern life has crammed us into and the fact that living amongst nature is considered almost a fantasy.

The influences on the album as a whole range all the way from Anthrax, Dio, Testament, Judas Priest and WASP, to Alter Bridge, Ghost, Enforcer and even smaller, underground bands such as The Wran or High Fade.

PainDemic Unleash Debut Single "FWF" Across All Streaming Platforms Ahead of Full-Length Album McGovney’s House Party

Heavy melodic metal outfit PainDemic have officially released their debut single, "FWF," now available on Spotify and all major digital streaming platforms as of February 27, 2026. The track serves as the first official recording from the project and the opening chapter of their upcoming full-length album, McGovney's House Party , scheduled for Spring 2027 via No Life Till Metal, with early release activity through Gutted Records on Bandcamp.

PainDemic is built on a foundation of deep American metal history and a fresh surge of new energy. The rhythm section features Gary Monardo (bass) alongside drummer Johnnie Tabares, both widely known for their work on landmark recordings with Hirax, including Raging Violence and Hate, Fear and Power . While Tabares is no longer an active member of the band moving forward, his performance remains part of the recorded foundation of this early material.

On vocals, Rob Perkins brings a long and varied history in the underground. In the early 1980s, Perkins performed in Wargod alongside legendary drummer Gene Hoglan and guitarist Michelle Meldrum before later reuniting with Monardo and Tabares in Cold Blood during the late 1980s demo era.

Leading the next generation of the lineup is guitarist Cheyenne Scott, a rising talent awarded the Cliff Burton Scholarship in 2023, named in honor of the late Metallica bassist. The award recognized her early passion for "Creeping Death" and her dedication to developing her craft within the spirit of classic heavy metal.

Production for "FWF" and the upcoming album is handled by legendary producer Bill Metoyer, known for his work with Slayer, Flotsam and Jetsam, Armored Saint, and many other cornerstone acts of the genre. Recording took place at Travis Dickerson Recording Studio in Chatsworth, California, in August 2025, with mixing and mastering completed in December 2025.

Sonically, PainDemic pulls from the roots of classic heavy metal, thrash aggression, and melodic weight, built for listeners who still value grit, songwriting, and raw energy over digital polish.

For fans of Anthrax, Metallica, and Slayer, PainDemic sits right in that lineage where thrash attitude meets heavy metal tradition. Early algorithmic support on Spotify has already linked the project to these cornerstone artists, reinforcing the band's natural placement in the modern heavy metal ecosystem.

The visual identity remains raw and hand-crafted. Band artwork is created by Fae Kington, while the logo was hand-drawn by Dea Monardo, keeping the aesthetic grounded in traditional metal presentation.

With "FWF" now streaming worldwide, PainDemic continues building momentum toward the release of McGovney's House Party , currently in its final writing stages ahead of a Spring 2027 release.

About IX of Blades: Founded in 2023, IX of Blades began as the one-man project of horror writer Curtis M. Lawson (author of Black Heart Boys’ Choir and Devil’s Night). Following two EPs and several singles, the project has evolved into a formidable live band, featuring former and current members of The Innsmouth Look and 1476. Gutter dwellin' rock n roll from Baltimore, MD!

Formed in 2018 by members of Nux Vomica, Deathammer, and Raw Filth who wanted to strike a sound somewhere between their love of 80’s metal and rock n roll swagger with punk grit. Months of gigging and developing their style led them to comparisons with classic bands straddling those same lines such as Motörhead and Venom, with their self released demo in 2019.

After some lineup changes and higher profile gigs opening for BAT, Poison Ruin, and a spot on Maryland Deathfest, they released their self-titled full length in 2022. Total Maniac sets apart from their contemporaries by authentically not giving a fuck about fitting into a narrow box.

Several more high profile gigs, festivals, and DIY tours followed. It’s not uncommon to find them on a bigger stage opening for major metal acts such as Midnight or Sodom one night, and then a sweaty packed dive bar playing alongside crust punk bands the next month. 

Their over the top performances and diverse musical backgrounds have gained them interest in a variety of different scenes.

BraveWords Records is excited to announce the new Crimson Glory album “Chasing The Hydra”, the first new album from Crimson Glory in 26 years. The album will be released worldwide on all digital services, CD and vinyl on April 17th.

Alongside mainstay founding members Ben, Jeff and Dana, the band announced in 2023 the addition of amazing new vocalist Travis Wills and guitarist Mark Borgmeyer. VANISHMENT began in 2019 taking inspiration from classic thrash and heavy metal bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth and Judas Priest, the group spent several months between 2020-2021 writing, rehearsing and eventually recording their debut effort, ‘No More Torture,’ which was self-released in 2023. The album displayed the band’s raw energy and aggressive sound, and was met with a tsunami of critical praise. Playing numerous shows through the Pacific Northwest, performing alongside Warbringer, Flotsam & Jetsam, Mutoid Man, Accused A.D., Haunt, Anthares, Solicitor, and Blighted Eye as well as their new label-mates in Silver Talon and Lacabra.
