Message From the Artist:

UNDER THE LIGHT OF MOUNTAINS is our second work as a band and an album that speaks of our ancestors' culture and how they struggled to survive and keep alive their worldview and pride throughout the process of conquest and its resulting subjugation. Decadent atmospheres and some form of vindication is what you will hear in the album from start to finish.

Unlike our debut, Obscure and Malignant Rituals, this work seeks to explore new sounds, with longer songs integrating pre-Hispanic instruments to create a pagan sound with contrasting moods. UNDER THE LIGHT OF MOUNTAINS is both musically and lyrically a rejection towards Christian values and beliefs brought by conquistadors and a homage to our ancient land's history.

While conceptually “Obscure…” was terrifying psychologically speaking, “Under…” is based on historical facts molded under the perspective of a twisted chronicle where myth and symbolism merge with wicked black metal with slight doom vibes, granting a feeling of melancholy and nostalgia that could easily lead into an overwhelming burst of blastbeats. That is what defines our sound, going further on each record.

About the Album

Saqraruna play atmospheric black metal that maintains the aggression and intensity of raw black metal. While there is a rich atmosphere within which the music is presented, this isn’t at the expense of the elements that define black metal as a genre.

You’ll still find shrieked powerful vocals that pierce through the instrumentals on the album, delivering dark verses. Accompanying this at numerous points are furious venomous riffs and unrelenting drum work. At other times things take a more immersive, depressive atmosphere. On the whole though things have taken a more aggressive turn since the band’s last album, with them holding nothing back on this release.

What really makes the album so unique are the themes that it covers, looking at the band’s Peruvian ancestry, culture, and history. The release examines the hardships endured by their ancestors under the reign of their Christian oppressors and the ways that they kept their culture alive. To accentuate this point the band have included numerous spoken audio clips, as well as integrating pre-Hispanic instruments.

The band manage to find a perfect balance between depressive elements and aggression, giving the album a charged yet melancholic atmosphere. It both mourns the loss of their people’s culture and displays the anger at this loss simultaneously.

Overall if you’re a fan of atmospheric black metal then this an album that shouldn’t be missed. This is South American black metal at its finest.

HELLBOUND RELEASE VIDEO FOR "KING OF MISERY"

PRESS RELEASE:

Swedish metal/hard rock band Hellbound has unleashed the music video for “King of Misery,” which is a part of the recently released Och Regnet Föll double-single as well as the upcoming full length.

Hellbound guitarist Henrik Mikaelsson comments:

“In the midsummer of 2021, Hellbound once again joined forces with Håkan Hemlin, legendary singer from the Swedish folk band ‘Nordman’ and recorded ‘King of Misery.’ Owe Lingvall (Dreamday Media, Nocturnal Rites) was hired for the video, and the location for the video shoot was at the famous ‘Rockbarn’ outside of Umeå that has hosted many local folk and country heroes over the years… Now we proudly present ‘King of Misery,’ which is the first song from our upcoming album.

“Stay fuckin’ brutal and keep sluggin’.”

On Och Regnet Föll, Hellbound teamed up with Håkan Hemlin of Nordman to celebrate their 10th anniversary. The collaboration with Håkan Hemlin came naturally as there is a mutual admiration after Håkan took a liking to Hellbound at Discouraged Fest 2014. Now nine years later, the Umeå-based band can proudly present two songs with Håkan on guest vocals. The title number honors the Nordman classic “Och Regnet Föll” and the other track, “King of Misery,” is a brand-new number.

Arrived digitally on 10 December 2021, Och Regnet Föll will be later released as an exclusive and very limited 7-inch vinyl in 2022 via Discouraged Records. Both songs come with fiery music videos by Owe Lingvall of Dream Day Media, who is known for his work with Meshuggah, Sabaton, Nocturnal Rites, and more.

TROGLODYTE RELEASE NEW TRACK "SASQUASHED (BIGFOOT CRANK STOMP)

PRESS RELEASE:

The newest single from Sasquatchian death metal band TROGLODYTE is now streaming. "Sasquashed (Bigfoot Crank Stomp)" is the third track released from the band's long-awaited new album, The Hierarchical Ecological Succession: Welcome to the Food Chain.

"Sasquashed (Bigfoot Crank Stomp)" tells the cautionary tale of trapping a murderous bi-pedal creature in your basement and getting it hooked on methamphetamines.

TROGLODYTE vocalist Jeff Sisson comments on the song, “The very first song we ever wrote as a band was a song called “Sasquashed.” It was a corn-filled mess. Far be it to waste a terrific title, I repurposed and used for this new auditory tale. The band also wanted to do something that serves as a reminder to those who struggle with addiction and that taking in one of these mysterious “monsters” into your home, while might seem like a good idea, can only end in disaster.”

Shawn Knight (Child Bite, Shock Narcotic) provides guest vocals and the “meth-rant” that closes out the track.

Stream "Sasquashed (Bigfoot Crank Stomp)" now at this location.

Blood Blast Distribution will release The Hierarchical Ecological Succession: Welcome to the Food Chain on all streaming platforms on 3/5/22. Pre-order the album at troglodyte.bandcamp.com.

Check out previously released album tracks "Meat Your Maker" and "Found Guilty In A Wrongful Death Lawsuit For Shooting A Man Wearing A Bigfoot Costume" at linktr.ee/troglodyte_band.

All three singles are also available on all streaming platforms.

The Hierarchical Ecological Succession: Welcome to the Food Chain features a rouge’s gallery of names from the metal community. ORIGIN bassist Mike Flores, who has taken part in numerous live shows with the band for years, is making his first studio appearance, writing and recording bass on the new album. Brent Purgason (aka Pustulus Maximus of GWAR), Shwan Knight (CHILD BITE), and Ross Sewage (EXHUMED, GHOUL, IMPALED) also make guest appearances.

The album was recorded and mixed by Ryan Vincent/Apollo Audio Alt (Misery Index, Scour). Album artwork by Dusty Peterson (Cattle Decapitation, Six Feet Under, Lamb of God).

TROGLODYTE has been battering audiences with their unique brand of knuckle-dragging metal for well over a decade. Created by special effect artist and music video director Jeff Sisson as an homage to all things Bigfoot, the “creature-features” of the ’70s-’80s and classic death metal.

With titles like "Bring Me the Head of Bigfoot," "Mummified Yeti Hand," "Murderous Bi-Pedal Hominid Rampage (Where are My Legs?)" and "Entrails Torn from a Cryptid’s Gut," these songs are not for the faint of heart or those without a sense of humor.

Appearances at the annual Gwar BQ, Detroit's Berserker, Las Vegas Death Fest, and Denver's Black Sky festival, as well as hundreds of shows supporting touring acts such as HATEBREED, ROB ZOMBIE, and GWAR, have made them crowd favorites.

The current line-up features Mike Flores from the ORIGIN, as well as Michael Langner and Brandon Mitchell from the TORN THE FUCK APART.

TROGLODYTE is:

Chris Wilson

Mike Flores

Brandon Mitchell

Michael Langner
