VRIESS RELEASE "VRIESS" EP

PRESS RELEASE:

VRIESS is the contaminated Thrash / Death Metal child of the 2020 pandemic formed by PROJECT FOR BASTARDS members Greg and Chris (also ex-THE LUMBERJACK FEEDBACK) that decided to start working back on songs the later started creating a decade before.

Mixing groovy and heavy riffs, Thrash Metal’s appetite for speed and Death Metal’s hungriness for rotten atmospheres in their material, the duet soon recruits professional session musicians to complete the line-up with drummer extraordinaire Kévin PARADIS (BENIGHTED, MITHRIDATIC…) behind the kit and mesmerizing Linus KLAUSENITZER (ALKALOID, ex-OBSCURA…) on bass

Five songs are soon finalized with the addition of respected guitarist Christofer MALMSTRÖM (DARKANE…) as a guest soloist on one, resulting in the band’s debut EP that’s, lyrically, a reflection about the world we live in during these current troubled times.

Band members are:

- Christopher Poirier: Vocals

- Grégory Poirette - Guitars

- Linus Klausenitzer (Alkaloid / ex-Obscura) - Bass

- Kévin Paradis (Benighted / Mithridatic) - Drums

- Christopher Malmström (Darkane) - Guest Solo

MARTORN RELEASE "MARTORN" EP

PRESS RELEASE:

MARTORN

Martorn EP

[July 2nd 2021]

[Melodic Black Metal]

[Entelodon Records]

Tracklist:

1. Overcome

2. Martorn Rising

3. Vattenfallets Brus

4. Hell of Fire

5. Awaken

As a melodic black/epic death metal band with international members, Martorn stands for admiration, loyalty, and healing. The lyrics follow suit with symbolic imagery of strenuous growth, ephemeral beauty, and inevitable decay.

Lead singer/keyboardist/lyricist Emma Michaelsen (The Rhythm Coffin) and guitarist/bassist Art Bertik (Despite Loyalty, Strangled By Strangulation, Groamville) are a dynamic duo. Together, they create melodic death metal with cryptic lyrics and haunting melodies. Guest musicians featured on tracks include drummer Ben Durfee (Dysphotic, Coma Recovery, Cassovita) and Grammy Award-winning violinist, Alyson Montez.

As Michaelsen hails from Stockholm, Sweden, and Bertik hails from Los Angeles, U.S.A., they literally had to cross oceans to make their music happen. With help from Entelodon Records, The Decibel Foundry recording studio and Rogue Planet Mastering, Martorn already has 3 singles and an EP. Each song explores the duality of resilience and despair. The music is bittersweet, like Pandora’s box, full of darkness, yet redeemed by hope. But even the hopefulness is tempered by morbidity, because it’s only the potential for progress, not a guarantee of it. The growls and gutterals are a dead giveaway for deep-rooted anger and frustration.

Michaelsen and Bertik met in 2015 after her live performance with The Rhythm Coffin in Hollywood, California. They have been collaborating on creating music together in between all their other projects, ever since. Their songs embody the epic atmosphere of black metal, the raw rage of death metal, and the emotional sorrow of melodic metal. Their music exemplifies the paradox of resilience and adversity. Martorn is deep, heavy, melancholy music, of delicate introspection and ironclad willpower.

HROM TO RELEASE "LEGENDS OF POWERHEART: PART II" ON VINYL

PRESS RELEASE:

Canadian Power Metal force HROM have announced the October 1 release of Legends of Powerheart: Part II on limited edition vinyl! The date will mark the first vinyl release in the band's 12-year history

Originally released in 2020 on limited edition CD (via Hoove Child Records) and digital formats, the group's Classic Style Power Metal Punch can now be enjoyed on turntables the world over! Limited to 100 copies, the self-released LP will be available for pre-order on September 3.

The album can be streamed in its entirety on Bandcamp.

The Powerheart Concept Explained:

The story is about Powerheart’s numerous failed attempts to escape his reality. Upon finding his kingdom is corrupt, the incredibly powerful swordsman Powerheart sets out to solve his depression and life crisis caused by this corruption. A stranger (known to the audience as The Seer) provides him a Time Diamond to use to travel through time and escape his old life. Upon using it, The Seer traps Powerheart in the future, wiping his memory and enlisting him to train and fight for him in his galactic warfare. Powerheart befriends a Serpent beast after slaying a rival beast of theirs.

He fails to kill the Enchanter who The Seer is pitted against in this futuristic war. With the help of Marvin (the Traveler mascot) he slays the Warrior of Time (Riot City’s mascot) to prevent it from killing him and taking the Time Diamond, (in response to Riot City’s song about killing Powerheart and taking the Time Diamond). He still winds back where he started having to face his original problems of the corrupt kingdom, now saved by “The Queen” from the Queen of Steel EP and his old kingdom has turned against him for abandoning them.

BIO:

Hrom (named after the Slovak word for Thunder) began in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 2008 when 17 year old Slovak-Canadian Jan Loncik wrote, recorded, mixed and mastered all instruments and vocals in all of the songs that would make up the debut album Blesk (the Slovak word for Lightning). To bring the music to the live stage, Loncik, who decided to be a vocalist/guitarist, recruited Alex Langill on guitars, Shawn Vincent (Smoulder, Gatekrashor) on bass and David Horrocks on drums.

In 2010, Matt Ries (Traveler, Gatekrashor) joined to take on Loncik’s guitar duties so Jan could be a full time vocalist. In 2012, Horrocks left and Hrom played shows with Loncik singing and drumming. In 2015, just after the release of Legends of Powerheart: Part I, Nolan Benedetti (WMD, Gatekrashor) played drums for Hrom for the Ragnarokkr Festival (now the Legions Festival) in Chicago, but couldn’t join full time, so Chad Vallier (Riot City, Traveler) joined until late 2016. Vincent also left at in 2016 to move to Toronto.

After Loncik took on live bass duties with his vocals, Hrom brought in Jake Axl Wendt (WMD) on bass and Benedetti again on drums to play live in 2017 and they joined officially in 2018. The band wrote and recorded Legends of Powerheart: Part II which came out mid-pandemic in 2020 on CD format via Hoove Child Records and self-released digitally.
