LIGHTLORN RELEASE LYRIC VIDEO FOR "DILATION SLEEP"

Cosmic black metal band from the extreme metal homeland of Gothenburg, Sweden, LIGHTLORN is now streaming a new lyric video for "Dilation Sleep", taken from their recently released EP These Nameless Worlds. Stream the video HERE.
The band comments: "This was the last song I wrote for the EP, and although I ‘borrowed’ the title from my favourite sci-fi author, the lyrics bear only a tangential resemblance to that work. Of all the songs on the EP, I think Dilation Sleep best represents Lightlorn’s dichotomy between light and dark, between heavy and atmospheric. I like to think of it as a black metal ballad, melancholy and wistful yet ultimately optimistic."
Harnessing the meaning behind their name, which can be interpreted as “bereft of light”, LIGHTLORN explores the feelings of alienation, isolation, and existential dread. Through cosmic themes and lyrics, the band seeks to embrace this darkness and despair – because nothing is darker nor colder than the void between the stars.
While These Nameless Worlds on its surface sounds bleak and tends to instill a sense of longing within the listener, it also sparks idyllic and mesmerizing atmospheres and subtle intoxicating harmonies. LIGHTLORN does not abandon the roots of black metal, but rather seeks to extend those branches upwards, into the abyss that surrounds us all.
LIGHTLORN aims to create an emotionally dense and textured approach to black metal, that surpasses the frozen and barren landscapes of Earth, to the stars above. Their approach is both transcendent and incredibly human, and reveals how dynamic and vulnerable black metal can be as the genre progresses into the future.

HALLS OF BLASPHEMY play raw black metal, boasts some impressive sections of metal, the songwriting is hardly cohesive, The music isn't exceptional, but it is certainly good in parts, but the songwriting is nice as dark. The mid to late 90s saw countless black metal bands using and abusing keyboards for atmosphere, often more as a novelty than a well-integrated instrument. While the contrast of the raw black metal sections is listenable. There are no extraneous over-the-top musical experiments taking place Just concise, hate filled, totalitarian doctrines the bestial way are outlined via the indifferent soundscape. showcases some of the recognizable talents behind the musical instruments. Riffs run rampant, blast beats grow in strength as the music progresses and the almost absent bass sharpens the sound of the genocidal hymns and faeriness somehow found Satan again and started exorcising his erstwhile favorite creatures, disgorging them from his newly blasphemous rectum.
It might be due to the arrangement on the title track, which has the same influence on the listener like a volcanic eruption on the fauna close to the volcano. Astonishing and perplexing is the kind of arrangement the band chose, after a choir part gave the demo such a peaceful atmosphere. This cheerful harmony was violently disrupted first by a distorted scream and then some extraordinary weird guitar arrangement; which sound sampled, though. Yet this is only the beginning of the mess or brilliant attempt in which the elements of the song have been woven together. Brilliance and madness are always close together and both often appear in a unity. What degree any of them had an influence is mere guesswork, though. knowledge of music is too limited to judge whether the played riffs are accordingly to any rule of musicianship or if they are merely some kind of attempt to create a chaotic atmosphere; the problem darkest and insanity.

Dark expansive panoramas of emotional discontent and spiritual violence underly the often beautiful and intricately conceived songs of Emperor. The articulation of complexity distinguishes this band from most popular or underground composers, although the basic elements are very similar: crossing structures of fragments of scales, interacting in power chord DNA nirvana between the greater movements of the song. The conception of epic structural signatures to be deconstructed over a landscape of song, balanced with the chaos of sprawling vocal and dissonant timbre and rhythm of guitars, and use of keyboards to support riffs and transitions with separate and dissonant but harmonizing melodies, distinguish Emperor from the other bands working this style.

COLDEST DOMAIN packed with atmospheric, cold vibes. It mixes soft, ambient-style keyboards with harsh, tremolo-picked guitar riffs, and it works better than one would expect. This certainly isn't something many would call trve BM but rather a quite unique style. The keyboards are quite dominant throughout the materialized, but keep fundamental to the sound is going for and thus never feel out of place or intrusive. They're the #1 reason why the materialize has such a cold and unique sound. The guitars often take a backseat to the synth melodies. it doesn't belong to the music, it's just lo-fi and has about as much of a dreadful atmosphere as a unboring conference call. The whole damn thing sounds like a conference call, compounded by being on hold for a few minutes while widdly music box tones ping the worst "on-hold" music have ever heard. These elements are employed in the pursuit of a sorrowful, reflective atmosphere. However, nice execution means that the affect is only achieved at the surface level. While the musicianship is technically sound, it is too austere. The cleanliness of the performance stands in stark contrast to the deep emotions COLDEST DOMAIN is trying to draw out. The performance has no soul. No energy bursts forth from the guitar, the drums are flat and the synths are especially inundating.
It's no secret that COLDEST DOMAIN are considered to be one of the, if not the very best the sub-genre has to offer, mixing black metal traditions with ambiance. Considering the majority of music within this area of metal has some degree of ambiance to it, one would imagine that bands who specialise in the sound would be able to fulfill our every need and want but that isn’t the case most of the time. In actual fact, most bands struggle to get the balance between ambiance and black metal right.

Prog metal band AVANDRA have released a video for their track "Daybreak" The song is from their album Prodigal which was released on November 18th, 2022,via Layered Reality Productions.
The band comments "Daybreak is the epic closer of the album. It is the end of the hero's journey, where love and a desire to rebuild the past becomes more important than hatred and a desire to hunt down those who took it away. It is more important to rebuild one's home than to tear another one's down."

With a passion for non-standard time signatures, electronics and technical elements, the band have produced a concept option that explores the meaning of 'home' and the freedom to attain your own destiny.
"Codename: Pharaoh" introduces the album by incorporating Eisenhower's speech on the dangers of unifying the private sector’s military industrial complex with the government. The track explores the cyclical nature of war. Musically the band deliver emotive soaring vocals, intricate instrumentation that is also capable explosive power. The narrative of the album sees the protagonist introduced in "The Downpour", a thunderstorm is revealed to be the distant dropping of bombs travelling towards his village. AVANDRA use guttural harsh vocals and emphasis on bass tones to explore the dark side of the album, interweaving an array of textures throughout the track. Prodigal follows the protagonist through a difficult journey of loss and betrayal; from joining the military only to discover they were responsible for the bombing and destruction of his home, to returning and rebuilding. "A Trace of Home" races with a intense, high-speed pace. Harsh vocals and soaring cleans produce a dynamic contrast bringing together multiple moods and exploring the complex thoughts and feelings of the album's central figure. Dreamy piano melodies and atmospheric synths accompany haunting whispers in "In Träumen", while "Dissembling The Artifice" sees AVANDRA venture further into the heavy and dissonant without fully abandoning the light. "Daybreak" makes for a dramatic conclusion; an encompassing amalgamation of the elements presented across the tracks.
AVANDRA have produced a highly technical, deeply poignant and thoroughly thrilling album in Prodigal. Musically the outfit's compositions display an immense understanding and skill of the progressive genre, not only creating compelling music but aptly writing to convey the album's overarching concept.
