THIS DAY BUT IN 1988: NAPALM DEATH RELEASE "FROM ENSLAVEMENT TO OBLITERATION"

 

32 years ago, on September 16th 1988, grind masters NAPALM DEATH released their second full length album. After their debut with the sheer aggression in "Scum" from 1987, and the live EP "The Peel Sessions", the band showed a more polished sound on this new album that gave even more power to their music. "From Enslavemen... " featured the addition of the almighty Shane Embury on bass and also Lee Dorrian vocals on all tracks (in "Scum" some tracks featured Dorrian and some Nik Napalm). The same with Bill Steer´s guitar that appears in all tracks (he replaced Justin Broadrick that went to form HEAD OF DAVID and later GODFLESH and who was featured in some of the "Scum" tracks). After impressing with their 2018 demo, Sermon to the Snake, OBSCENE make their LP debut with a renewed sense of ruthless aggression in The Inhabitable Dark. They entered Earth Analog Studios in Tolono, IL in summer of 2018 to lay down eight tracks of death metal fury.

Not adhering to any sort of 'caveman' or 'cavernous' trend in the current climate, this album harkens back to the early Florida and Dutch death metal scene as well as nods to U.K., Scandinavia, New York, touches of vicious thrash and riff oriented traditional heavy metal to go along with an unhinged acidic vocal style. Initially, Andreп, singer guitarist, had created a Brutal Death project, inspired by the American scene. Gradually, his brothers joined him in the project that gave birth to Noitatalid.

The band composes in the Brutal Death American vein and the European touch is brought by the younger brother, Aleksey, drummer, whose precision brings a certain brutality to the songs.

Some touches of Thrash Metal and Grindcore are found in the album.

It is a first step in the musical world and the Metal scene. Fans of Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, Carcass and Obituary will meet again.

As time went by, Noitatalid grew and contacted Music-Records for the promotion and distribution of the debut album "Furies in the Steppes from Russia!".

The mixing and mastering was done by Valentin CARREAU at Track Down Music, Music-Records' recording studio.

The band was deprived of album covers and with the help of Valentin, the cover of the current album was developed.

The album will be distributed in Europe, USA, Canada, Quebec, Asia & Oceania. Also available on 250 digital platforms.

This first album shares the point of view on society, political issues, chemical castration by food and other subjects, by metaphors.

The wish of Vitaly, the bassist, was to pay homage to Slayer with their album "Reign in Blood" which the total duration of "Furies in the Steppes from Russia!" is lower than that of Slayer.

The next album is already composed and ready to be recorded, the producer of which will be Valentin CARREAU.

VEGAS RELEASE "...NOT EVER"

VEGAS (or VVEGAS, depending of how you search and look for it), is a mysterious band with members and collaborators from many countries, with only one constant member and mastermind also known as T. 

The band plays a mix of hardcore and metal, picking influences from diverse genres, from the new york crossover and metallic hardcore, to the british uk82 punk, the heavy metal and hardcore fusion of bands like Integrity and G.I.S.M., and even elements from industrial and neofolk. A Rorschach test to the ears and mind, with a lo-fi but not less abrasive approach to music.

It's dominated by a complete lack of creative vision and playing by established patterns with total disregard of the mystery and visual component. Yet, maybe the most unfortunate fact is a complete loss of the mystical and dark aura that used to embrace the whole genre with all of its performers.

Metal as we see it is over the top, mysterious, layered and it takes much more than superficial listening or consuming to delve deeper into the very message that music conveys. It also has a strong visual imagery that, along with the musical part, represents two sides of the same coin which cannot exist without each other.
