JÄRNBÖRD RELEASE "FILMER FÖR BLINDA"

PRESS RELEASE:

Sweden’s JÄRNBÖRD will release their second album “Filmer för blinda” (Movies for the blind) on January 10th 2025.

Today, the band is premiering the album's second single, "Vi ska ätas, vi ska dömas", at IDIOTEQ. Watch the video HERE.

The album took almost four years to complete. The fact that it took so long has a lot to do with the band releasing a handful of split records and singles in the meantime, but also because of an ambition to really invest this time. “What happens if we broaden the view of what our grindcore really is? Can we attack the songs from another direction - plank a Pixies stick, interpret Björn Afzelius?”

On Björn Afzelius's song "Flickan i snøn", the band is guested by Anna Wagner from, among others, Dead Sleep. She is joined by more guest artists. In "Rockar med mammon" Mikey Lennartsson from Gamla Pengar and The Dahmers rasps out lines about having time to listen to Slayer and in "Vi ska ätas, vi ska dömas", the techno artist Johanna Knutsson sings about how sometimes it is better to keep your mouth shut.

“Filmer för blinda” revolves around the phenomenon of being human - during one and the same day, we can be exposed to feelings of helplessness, joy, sadness, anger, fatigue, love, friendship and hatred. How do we handle it? How do we stay afloat? Some close their eyes, others confront it. Some booze their day away, others go to work. Some becomes right-wing, others renovate their balcony. But in the end, nothing really matters. It's movies for the blind.

“It has been important for us not to get stuck in the generic. Although we have taken every opportunity to place ourselves in the grindcore genre, we have always identified ourselves as a regular rock band. We quite often play a very fast form of rock music, but in the end it's completely normal rock we deal with. It also gives greater freedom in terms of lyrics. I want to be able to write about raw capitalism, but I also want to sing about fast cars and Torgny Lindgren”, says Anders Schärberg, who plays guitar and sings in JÄRNBÖRD.

“Filmer för blinda” is mostly recorded in Studio Covid by Niklas Ehrlin, with the exception of the drums, which were recorded in Studio Tonhuvud by Hannes Heed. Mixed and mastered by Ulf Blomberg, HoboRec Recording Studio.

Vinyl-LP is released by De:nihil Records (SWE) and 7Degrees Records (GER). CD is released by Hecatombe Records (SP) and Esagoya Records (JPN).

It has been four years since the release of Independence to the Beast (2020) and during this time, Canis Dirus have been refining their savage, yet atmospheric black metal during what has been the most prolific era of their career. 2021 found the split release, A Harmonious Union of Vibration, to surface with the project Crown of Asteria, where Canis Dirus contributed two new tracks that blended their own unique form of twisted blackness, along with an ambient influence. Was this a sign of things to come?

Armed with the fantastic drum work of CJ Yacoub (Escaping Aghartha, Neverdawn, ex-Amun), TMP (Guitars, Bass, Synth) and RH (Vocals) have been hard at work on what has become the the band's finest work, By the Grace of Death. Atmosphere still reigns in the dark sonic sphere of Canis Dirus, but on this impending new album, the band's black metal essence is at the forefront of this nocturnal hunt. TMP’s riff/playing style remains truly his own with atypical phrasing that co-exists with a more orthodox Black Metal style. The Black Metal side can make one feel isolated and attacked one moment, then calm and nurtured the next with colorful folk music that has become a vibrant element of Canis Dirus's sound. RH’s vocals contribute to the adventurous nature of By The Grace of Death with his most feral performance to date.

"Canis Dirus’ “By The Grace of Death” is an outstanding album that seeks to honor the blackened ways of olde while also pushing their sound, and genre, forward by incorporating new avenues and paths for the music, and listener, to explore." - Doomed for Metal

ABOLISHMENT OF FLESH RELEASE VIDEO FOR "WORDS DEFY TRUTH" FROM "RESURRECTING MISANTHROPY" EP

PRESS RELEASE:

Texas, USA’s metal powerhouse Abolishment of Flesh has just released the intense lyric video for “Words Defy Truth” taken from their latest EP “Resurrecting Misanthropy”, which was released in 2023. The video, now streaming online, offers fans a visceral visual accompaniment to the band's uncompromising sonic assault that blurs the lines between black, thrash, and death metal. Fund and multi-instrumentalist Ramon Cazares comments on the track:

“‘Words Defy Truth’ was written almost 10 years ago. I’m a big melody and somewhat tech fan, so this has been both challenging and fun to write and perform. This song is about some of the stuff that I saw and experienced when I was involved in church. It seemed like the deeper I got involved, the darker things got. It wasn’t necessarily nefarious but the manipulation, control, fear, and empty hope and promises were enough for me to walk away from religion.”

The track runs four minutes of pure, unadulterated metal aggression, which demonstrates why Abolishment of Flesh continues to push the boundaries of extreme music. With themes rooted in war, violence, disease, corruption, and the systematic collapse of human civilization, Abolishment of Flesh delivers an anti-human message about death and destruction.
