Hailing from Stavanger norwegian firestarters UBUREN play harsh black metal with a personal interpretation of viking metal brought together in an endless stream where thoughts and music have melted together and become one indescribable piece.

Uburen has always focused on being a live-band over being a studio band, headlining tours all over the world in countries such as Mexico, England, Germany and Russia. They have shared the stage with some of the biggest names in extreme metal like Enslaved, Einherjer and Harakiri For the Sky. Rigthfully being called one of the best underground live acts in the black metal scene and a force to be reckoned with

After two full length self-released albums they have released "Usurp the Throne" which is a 8-track album spreaded worldwide at the beinning on 2023 on Dusktone label.

Cold and atmospheric, raw and haunting, this brand new opus marks a new highpoint for the band with a journey through eight unhallowed soundscapes, covering classic norwegian Black Metal and primitive Viking Metal and a large dose of obscurity and nordic violence.

To celebrate the first debut demo album which was released 10 years ago in 2011, and Voin Grim's anniversary - gave birth to the idea to restore and rearrange the raw old tracks and give them another life. The main reason is that it wasn't available anywhere, since 2014, because of it's little attention of listeners, and raw basement production (final mixing and mastering) though the recording itself was close to the first LP WW 2012 and recorded in the same place but with differences. So this version now has a new high resolution front art, and a different vision of the mix. Note: If you have the original demo that was published previously and you like it, you don't have to buy this version.

The Beginning:

The first idea behind the recording was to make the most sepulchral gloomy sounding album, to contain a very personal sincere qualities of mental state of those years, without compromises to the trends. And it worked for that year. But later with years Voin Grim's ideas needed more thick and tight production to be expressed at full. So this album wasn't relevant for years, although it is still an important part of Voin Grim's history.

Back in 1991, there was a death metal band called Stillborn from Dongen, The Netherlands. They weren’t very good at recording their brutal, straightforward, abrasive, Autopsy inspired songs and only made one demo, called Sickly Symptoms. Their main goal was to be the loudest, fastest band in their town and maybe play a show at some point. The band broke up and two of the three members went on to play in other bands, with moderate success.

Let’s fast forward 31 years. Three middle aged white guys decide to re-record the songs from their original demo. Since one of them has a studio in Stockholm now, and one of them has a top of the line home studio now, they manage to make it sound a lot better than the original demo. Let’s be honest, if this demo would have sounded like this in 1991, it would have been a stone cold classic.

But here and now, in 2022, we are just happy to share these recordings with you. Maybe in the future we’ll record some of the other music we were working on back then, but for now, step in our time machine, and enjoy the primal ages of death metal with us. We are a little older and wiser, so have changed our name from Stillborn to Rebirth, but have not really changed any of the other lyrics. So our apologies if you find them in bad taste. (They are, but they were written by teenagers, so…) Thanks for listening!
