There is nothing behind those eyes - no humanity to appeal to, no shared emotions to draw on, no innate sense of mercy to plead to - there is only hunger and a spark of malignant glee. The inevitability of the end is overwhelming; the strangely shocking realisation that you were never the centre of the universe, it was never your story, you were just a bit part player after all. The world will keep on turning long after this…thing…has reduced your ideas and emotions, worries and cares to a shapeless mess of flesh and liquid. It’s enough to make you weep…but there’s no more time for that.
Formed in 2021 by members of Fecal Body Incorporated, Cocklush and Concrete, Bulgarian gore obsessives Necromonger are devoted to the sound of rotting, repugnant death metal; undiluted, uncompromising and bone crushing. Eschewing the pursuit of high velocity blasting, Necromonger take their time over each kill, revelling in choking, claustrophobic atmosphere and sinister, crawling heaviness. A miasma of fear and desperation hangs over each song that they shape from their warped dreams of bruised flesh and congealed blood – and after years of immersion in their fetid fantasies they have emerged with a debut album to bring a shudder to the soul of all but the most hardened disciples of disgust. Emanation Of The Dying Perceptions has arrived…
The grotesque theatre of Emanation Of The Dying Perceptions opens with ‘Beyond The Pleasure Principle’, gradually submerging its victims into a world of terror before the razor-edged atmosphere gives way to snarling guitars underpinned by a thuggish bass. Brutalizing vocals bring an aura of warped sickness to the methodical process of dismemberment and there’s a seething morass of vicious unpleasantness boiling beneath the slow-motion bludgeoning. From here there is no escape, no let up in the degradation and destruction – this album is chilling in its soulless inhumanity. The songs switch from the murderous heat of tracks like ‘Born In Grave Wax’, a lumbering tribal dance of destruction, with the bass sounding as if the strings must be hanging from the instrument like loosely draped entrails, to cold, fear-infused nightmares like ‘Confessions Of A Dead Poet’, making for a disorientating melange of horror. The riffs are thick and suffocating, like wading through offal and the band deliver wound after wound, ghastly, shocking injuries. Listening to Emanation Of The Dying Perceptions is a mind warping experience that will take you from shock and disgust, through fear and madness to total desensitisation…and finally to a lust for depravity. Final track and first advance single, ‘Slaughter To The Bones’, is perhaps Necromonger’s greatest work on this, their first release. Its monstrous guitars and hellish vocals seem to be accompanied by a sense of sinister revelation, as if the meaning behind all the preceding savagery and slaughter is laid bare in this insidious, creeping conclusion.
Emanation Of The Dying Perceptions will be prised from its coffin by Xtreem Music on July 19th and released on CD, 12” LP, cassette and digital formats. The CD will feature the bonus track, ‘Necromonger’ – an epic instrumental combining atmosphere and brutality in a wildly effective, bilious cocktail – while the cassette will feature the additional delights of ‘Necrocannibal Pollution’, a feast of molten riffs that makes a more than fitting addition to the album’s core of carnage. With Emanation Of The Dying Perceptions Necromonger have written a love letter to the dismantling of the human form. Expect no mercy.
