IRONRAT RELEASE "BENEATH IT ALL"

PRESS RELEASE:

The wait is over! UK-based doom heavyweights IRONRAT are back and ready to dominate the heavy music scene once again. The band has revealed the full details of their highly anticipated new album, "Beneath It All," set for release in February 28th 2025 via Argonauta Records. Alongside the announcement, IRONRAT has dropped a thunderous new single and an accompanying video, offering fans an electrifying first glimpse of what’s to come: https://youtu.be/IFoFyiifbrk

Drawing inspiration from iconic bands such as Red Fang, Alice In Chains, Corrosion of Conformity and Mastodon, IRONRAT has crafted a sound that blends the raw grit of sludge and doom with the emotive edge of grunge. Their forthcoming record marks a triumphant return nearly a decade after their acclaimed debut, "Monument," in 2015.

The journey to "Beneath It All" wasn’t without challenges. The band weathered a temporary setback with the departure of their vocalist, Chris, due to health reasons. However, instead of faltering, IRONRAT used this time to regroup, reforge and emerge stronger than ever with a revitalized lineup:

Vocals & Guitar: Martin Wiseman (Psychlona, Wolves In Winter)

Guitar: Wayne Hustler (Wolves In Winter, ex-Monolith Cult)

Bass: Stuart Hillman

Drums: Gordon Wilkinson (Hollow Earth, Lazarus Blackstar, ex-Khang)

Fans of the band will know IRONRAT hasn’t been idle during their studio hiatus. Their explosive live performances alongside heavyweights like Orange Goblin, Phil Campbell and Psychlona have kept their name firmly etched in the heavy music circuit. Appearances at prestigious festivals like Bloodstock, SOPHIE Fest, and Manor Fest have further cemented their reputation as one of the UK’s premier doom acts.

The upcoming album, recorded at the renowned Foel Studio and produced by Chris Fielding of Conan fame, is a testament to IRONRAT’s sonic evolution. Packed with massive riffs, crushing tones, and a newfound melodic depth in the vocals, "Beneath It All" showcases the band’s growth while staying true to their core sound.

Stay tuned for the full release of "Beneath It All" this February, and in the meantime, dive into the new single and video—a powerful preview of the epic soundscapes that await.

IRONRAT is back. Heavier, bolder and more unstoppable than ever.

SARKASM RELEASE "CARNIVAL OF ATROCITIES"

PRESS RELEASE:

Back at the dawn of the 1990s Canadian death/thrash metal trailblazers Sarkasm were making a name for themselves in the metal underground. Four demos landed in quick succession, including ‘92s superb Inner Flame – but by ’94 the band were gone, seemingly destined to have burnt briefly but brightly, becoming a footnote in the annals of metal. However, after reforming for occasional shows, in 2019 Sarkasm were back and signed to the dedicated and supportive Xtreem Music label. In 2023 Sarkasm’s full length debut album, As Empires Decay, finally arrived and the critical response was excellent. But Sarkasm are far from finished, with years of lost time to make up for and they’re now ready to unveil a second album, an album that sees them striding forwards and becoming ever more potent and powerful…prepare for Carnival Of Atrocities!

Opening track ‘I Am Chaos’ is an immediate statement of intent from the band, with vocalist Bruno Bernier (also a member of Obliveon) letting loose a mighty, earthshaking roar that rides in the slipstream of Simon Thibodeau’s brain shaking drums and the glorious riffs of guitar team François Dubuc and Yves Parent. All these stunning elements remain at the fore for album highlight ‘Murmurs From The Void’ and it’s with this track that the superb bass work of Dave Bouchard really makes its mark too. Each element of the Sarkasm strike force works in perfect harmony, with each instrument and Bernier’s distinctive voice managing to hold their own place in the spotlight, without the finely structured songs ever tipping over into chaos. It’s hard to define just what makes the Sarkasm sound so special…maybe it’s the deft balance between technicality and accessibility, or perhaps the sheer bludgeoning force of tracks like ‘Ex Umbris’ and ‘Deadweight’? Possibly it’s the way that each note, each beat and word seems to be carefully considered and delivered with purpose – or just that Sarkasm follow different paths to other bands. Whatever the reason, with Carnival Of Atrocities, Sarkasm have delivered an album that stands tall amongst the surrounding pack, their blend of classic death and thrash sounds with modern muscle hits hard, leaving a bloody impression that lasts.

The tremendous sound on Carnival Of Atrocities has been captured by the combined skills of producer Maxime Lacroix (Gastrorrexis etc) and mastering magician Dan Swanö (Asphyx, Avulsed, Incantation etc). When Xtreem Music unleash this beast on February 4th, on CD, vinyl and cassette formats, bones will break and heads will roll. This is technical, addictive, impactful extreme metal at its very best.

CHRIST DISMEMBERED RELEASE "OV VAMPIRICY"

PRESS RELEASE:

CHRIST DISMEMBERED – OV VAMPIRICY

LABEL: INDEPENDENT RELEASE

RELEASE DATE: FEBRUARY 25th 2025

Dry dust and drier bones, sealed behind stone and cross and whispered prayer. Centuries of thirst, of desperate, torturous thirst, wracked by endless dreams of a crimson tide, crashing in waves through the invisible chains that bind, infusing this brittle, skeletal form with rapacious life and clothing it once more in flesh and skin. My thoughts roam the night beyond these walls, calling to them, drawing them to me. My patience is eternal and I know that they will come. They will find me, free me, bow to me and we shall ride upon black winds of vengeance…and drink until the world itself shall die.

A tolling bell, a howling wind and chants of dire imprecation announce the return of Christ Dismembered, Australia’s chief advocates of apostasy and servants of the beast! The fabled followers of darkness have finally unleashed their second full length album of blood hungry black metal – Ov Vampiricy! As the opening invocation fades a jagged, circling riff spirals downwards before exploding into the furious blast beat inferno of ‘Fool’s Gambit’. Black metal as old as the grave, built upon a bleeding throat rasp, rampant drumming and guitars that dance like spiders across crumbling tombs, roars forth – from the taut, nerve stretching riffs of ‘Mother Of Demons’ to the devilish refrains of ‘The Numbers Oppose’. The haunting tones of ‘The Banishment’ are placed perfectly at the album’s heart, drawing you deeper into the darkness, where ‘A Ritual Most Foul’ waits to drive cold spikes of guitar into your skull with iron hammer drums. Each element of Christ Dismembered plays its part perfectly, building an edifice of unapologetic black metal, unswerving in its focus and intensity. ‘Child Devouring Servants Of Satan’ is a magnificent, blood drenched rampage through the temples of innocence and purity, it’s murderous malice matched only by its sorcerous songcraft; but even that must bend the knee to ‘Riddled With Sin’, a triumphant climax of evil, epic in scope and daunting in its fury, that brings Ov Vampiricy full circle and closes the door to the mausoleum once more.

Over the years of their crusade against the light Christ Dismembered have performed alongside the likes of Taake, Immolation, Krisiun, Angelcorpse, Belphegor, Dark Funeral and many more, sharing stages with the very best that the extreme music world has to offer. Now they are ready to ride out into the world once more, bringing with them the heretical gospel that is Ov Vampiricy. On February 25th the children of the night will be unbound and their infernal music will echo through the darkness once more. Open your ears to their cries, open your arms to their embrace – or grip your crucifix in shaking hands and weep.

CORRODING SOUL RELEASE "CORRODING SOUL"

PRESS RELEASE:

I have left the pain behind me. I am free and unburdened, spinning and turning, racing through the currents of memory with a lightness of being I could never have imagined when the shadows of loss encircled me, pouring like a flood of desolation into my desperate lungs. The tides of black still swell and subside beneath me, but I can see the deep fissures and fractures in its surface, rich with colours and shades of illumination that my tortured gaze could never see before; before I laid down my arms and stepped into the cold blades of insubstantial knives, until I ceased to fight and embraced the darkness, finding victory in my defeat.

Corroding Soul is the solo atmospheric black metal project of multi-instrumentalist David Lovejoy, yet that simple description does not prepare the listener for everything that Corroding Soul the album has to offer. Building on the success of EPs Hopeless and Nothing, Corroding Soul sees Lovejoy diving deeper and soaring higher as he explores the farthest shores of black metal’s kingdom, bringing a wonderful multitude of emotions, a breathtaking palette of hues and colours to its monochrome world, breaking through the ice with blinding rays of warm sunlight. Corroding Soul is made up of four movements, four intrinsically linked soundscapes that create a veritable symphony of sound and imagination; each multifaceted gem forming part of a greater whole. Opening track, ‘Shadow’ begins in beautifully tranquil fashion, before the listener is cast into a vast, evocative dream where blast beats and emotive lead guitars enfold the harsh, impassioned vocals. There is a sense of flying high above a past of trauma, looking back on life’s pain and sorrow from a new perspective as the music shifts moods and tempos as smoothly as silk. Lead single, ‘Tempest’, sends the soul soaring, its towering splendour juxtaposed with delicate intimacy. Together with ‘Bound’ it forms the heart of Corroding Soul, the two tracks enfolding you and carrying you away on cresting waves of profound intensity. And then there is ‘Sapphire’, an epic track of incredible, effervescent energy and ineffable beauty, shot through with a silver thread of bitter sweet melancholy, remembrance for a life left behind and loves lost, adorned in some cultured lead guitar work which brings to mind the flawless work of Dave Gilmour. It’s an ending in hope and healing after an exhilarating sonic adventure.

Complete with the impactful artwork of Abhijit Asad, Corroding Soul will be released on January 24th and will be available directly from the band at the Corroding Soul Bandcamp page.  Accept the invitation and let David Lovejoy’s remarkable music take you on a journey you will never forget.

INBORN SUFFERING RELEASE "PALE GREY MONOCHROME"

PRESS RELEASE:

Formed in Paris in 2002, Inborn Suffering quickly established themselves as one of their country’s premier exponents of majestic, melodic doom death. They released two exceptional albums in the form of 2006s Wordless Hope and 2010s Regression to Nothingness, played numerous high profile shows alongside the likes of Swallow The Sun, Saturnus and Mourning Beloveth…and then slowly slipped away into years of silence. But now, in 2024, the band have returned, signing a new deal with the esteemed Ardua Music and preparing to release the album of their career in the incredible Pale Grey Monochrome!

Pale Grey Monochrome features all the trademarks of Inborn Suffering’s music – the crushing weight and towering majesty, the piercing emotion and beautiful guitar melodies, the aching vocal lines and sombre gravitas – but Inborn Suffering have returned not to match their past endeavours, but to surpass them. They have ventured further than ever before into the depths of despair and human suffering, they have poured every drop of their own sorrows into the sublime, melancholic melodies that unwind around the staggering riffs…in songs like ‘Tales From An Empty Shell’ and ‘Drawing Circles’ they have crafted doom death laments of breathtaking magnificence. They share insurmountable grief in ‘From Lowering Tides’, offer faint hope with ‘Of Loss And Despair’ and then crush it with the darkness of ‘The Oak’ and it’s undercurrents of fear and whispers of danger. Every moment of Pale Grey Monochrome carries a weight of meaning and emotion and it is stunning in its power and potency.

Ardua Music will unveil Pale Grey Monochrome’s procession of desolation on February 7th, complete with the arresting artwork of Franck Besançon (Maveth, Solemn Lament, Silent Hill: Townfall etc) and the intuitive mixing and mastering of Déhà of Opus Magnum Studio (Abduction, Deadspace, Wolvennest etc). An honour guard for this superlative release will be provided by Inborn Suffering's two revered early albums, Wordless Hope and Regression To Nothingness, which Ardua Music will also reissue In February, creating a perfect triptych of tragedy.

While you await the coming of Pale Grey Monochrome immerse yourself in a new visual interpretation of 'The Oak' which is available at the Ardua Music Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OtpPJ0GWrU

Speaking about 'The Oak' the band have said, "'The Oak' is a poetic journey through despair and rebirth, the text explores forgotten truths and the collapse of illusions. Themes of divine absence, decay, and rage intertwine with imagery of ashes, sorrow, and renewal. Amid hollow emptiness and shattered identities, it envisions revival and rage-fueled transcendence."
