Wurmian is an old-school Melodic Death/Doom project born in 2024 in Clermont-Ferrand, France, from the mind of Antoine Scholtes, initially known for his work within the Melodic/Atmospheric Black Metal one-man band Inherits The Void. Wurmian’s first album, Immemorial Shrine, combines melody and brutality in seven compositions that initiate a journey into isolated landscapes where humanity faces its solitude and fears.
As mentioned, the primary influences are 90s Melodic Death/Doom bands, but there’s also a focus on creating a modern yet nostalgic sound that speaks to fans of both the old and newer waves of the genre. The album is designed to be immersive, like a journey where the listener is confronted with a range of emotions. While the structure of the album follows a classic pattern, the compositions blend ethereal passages and rhythmic sections inspired by Death Metal, with the aim of offering a dual approach and providing a dynamic listening experience throughout the seven tracks that make up the album.
