Blackened death machine COMPLEXANT has arrived. These Australian extremists are poised to unleash their first-ever full-length album, Apex.

The album boasts 10 tracks of brilliantly violent riffing fueled by percussive intensity and unearthly vocals. Following a collection of critically-acclaimed singles and 2023's A Rite of Passage EP, COMPLEXANT is set to cement their status in the global metal community with Apex.

The band has launched the video for the album's first single, "No Angels Weep."

As the head of respected label Apocalyptic Witchcraft, Conor Droney is exposed to a mountain of new, extreme music on a daily basis – he’s not a man who is easily impressed. However, upon hearing the uniquely challenging sounds of Australian blackened death metal entity Hebephrenique’s Decathexis album – released in Australia last year through Gutter Prince Cabal and Brilliant Emperor Records – he knew he had to help spread this plague to an international audience. The band were promptly signed to Apocalyptic Witchcraft and a cassette and digital release of the tumultuous Decathexis is now upon us.

“Australia has long produced some of the finest bands in extreme music, and Hebephrenique were one of the best discoveries I made last year” Droney commented. “I can’t wait for the rest of the extreme metal community to experience Decathexis.”

Decathexis begins with ‘Stasis’, a passage through the veil, an admittance into the strange, unnerving otherness of Hebephrenique. The layers of existence part at your touch and each step takes you deeper into darkness, farther from the light and from all you know and understand. There is movement, sound, a shifting in the shadows…and then ‘Visions Of Magdalene’ comes crashing into life – jarring, angular, dissonance and destruction, strange, disjointed melodies clambering like crippled spiders over a framework of steel madness. And within this vortex a voice; completely in command of its distorted environment, comfortable in this mangled confluence of impossibilities. The vocals act as a focal point, Kris Wolf a ringmaster in this circus of chaos, as songs shift into different dimensions, each one more unsettling than the last; incendiary intensity giving way to fractured dreams. Each element of the Hebephrenique sound seems to work independently, following its own path, patterns and realities…yet they are pinned together, thrashing wildly against impediment and restraint, painting sonic images of cruel, strange beauty. From the forceful, serrated riffs of ‘I, Adverse’ to the leaping, irrepressible energy of ‘To Inflict Or Nurture’ nothing can be held in place. This music is liquid silver – constantly evolving and transforming – building worlds and tearing them down in the blink of an eye. Concluding, title track – ‘Decathexis’ – begins as colossal, strident death metal which then splits and splinters before slipping beneath still, dark waters, falling down magnificent descending chords, deeper and deeper. It’s a profoundly affecting experience and when silence finally returns Hebephrenique leaves you stunned and changed.

GOROTICA RELEASE "DAILY GRIND OF THE MEDIEVAL AGE"

Australian deathgrind act Gorotica are morbidly thrilled to release their second full-length album, "Daily Grind of the Medieval Age", in both digital and vinyl formats through BandCamp from October 3rd. After unleashing their bloodthirsty debut album “Morbid Menagerie” in 2022 and a slew of teaser singles earlier this year the new album continues both the musical and thematic intensity established by its predecessor.

Picking up where their debut record “Morbid Menagerie” left off, both musically and thematically, opening track “Dirge of the Breaking Wheel” features a prior melodic refrain and sets a sombre, reverent mood. This is quickly shattered by the churning riffs of  “A Helping Hand” which kick down the chamber door and usher in the album proper, setting the table for an eighteen-track-course meal of medieval cannibalistic deathgrind served over a thirty-five minute long feast of extreme metal carnage.

Gorotica invites the listener on a grotesquely entertaining tour of the Middle Ages, with a blend of grisly death metal and blistering hyperblasting grindcore as the main attraction. The record also sees a modest serving of hardcore and groove metal carving through the cacophony, with a litany of other unexpected musical moments appearing throughout the runtime.

A host of vile and darkly humorous lyrical content weaves tales of ghastly medieval torture, necrophilic perversions, clock-watching executioners and gory cannibalism throughout the compositions. These are vocalised by band leader Jon Von Cannibale in the form of guttural growls, manic shrieks, tortured howls and roars, with special guest vocalist A.J Foy adding his hardcore screams and sickening belches to a handful of tunes.

To coincide with the announcement of "Daily Grind of the Medieval Age", Gorotica presents two new music video clips, with the latest clip for album release single "Connoisseurs of Human Flesh" available for viewing now. A fast-paced feeding frenzy of gluttony and gallows humour, "Connoisseurs" depicts frontman Von Cannibale's decapitated head served as the main course in a medieval banquet that will be sure to stick in the viewers’ heads. This new video follows the previously released “Sage, Clove and Powdered Bone” clip, which showcased a mid-paced old school death number dealing with necrocannibalistic rituals, questionable recipes and shoddy sorcery.

Australian heavy metal titans Decimator are set to blast through the metal landscape with their electrifying double A-side single "Warriors", a thunderous homage to historical storytelling that captures the raw essence of classic metal tradition.

Paying tribute to the legendary 7-inch single format of the 70s and 80s, Decimator delivers two meticulously crafted tracks that transport listeners through time and battlefield: "Warriors" and "Wolf of the Plains". This is not just a musical release; it's a historical odyssey carved in sonic steel.

A Tale of Two Legends

"Warriors" emerges as the band's primordial creation, a track refined through years of musical evolution, unveiling the true story of the Knights Templar without mythological embellishment. Since their very first live performance, this song has been a cornerstone of Decimator's explosive stage presence.

Complementing "Warriors" is "Wolf of the Plains", an epic musical journey through the life of Genghis Khan. Inspired by Conn Iggulden's historical narratives and tipping a respectful hat to Iron Maiden's legendary storytelling, the track promises to be a metal history lesson unlike any other.

Australian death-doom metallers REEKMIND have released the second single from their upcoming debut album, "Mired in the Reek of Grief", set to unleash its haunting presence on MC and LP format via Night Terrors Records on March 7th, 2025.

The new song is called "Slithering Spell" and it's now premiering via Mystification Zine at THIS LOCATION.

With their peculiar blend of crushing riffs and emotionally charged atmospheres, REEKMIND takes listeners on a harrowing journey through the depths of human despair. As the band describes, "The Reekmind is a manifestation of insurmountable grief that is represented in a physical form which slowly overtakes one's mind and causes all affected to spiral into an inescapable well of misery and mental agony." Centuries of thirst, of desperate, torturous thirst, wracked by endless dreams of a crimson tide, crashing in waves through the invisible chains that bind, infusing this brittle, skeletal form with rapacious life and clothing it once more in flesh and skin. My thoughts roam the night beyond these walls, calling to them, drawing them to me. My patience is eternal and I know that they will come. They will find me, free me, bow to me and we shall ride upon black winds of vengeance…and drink until the world itself shall die.

A tolling bell, a howling wind and chants of dire imprecation announce the return of Christ Dismembered, Australia’s chief advocates of apostasy and servants of the beast! The fabled followers of darkness have finally unleashed their second full length album of blood hungry black metal – Ov Vampiricy! As the opening invocation fades a jagged, circling riff spirals downwards before exploding into the furious blast beat inferno of ‘Fool’s Gambit’. Black metal as old as the grave, built upon a bleeding throat rasp, rampant drumming and guitars that dance like spiders across crumbling tombs, roars forth – from the taut, nerve stretching riffs of ‘Mother Of Demons’ to the devilish refrains of ‘The Numbers Oppose’. The haunting tones of ‘The Banishment’ are placed perfectly at the album’s heart, drawing you deeper into the darkness, where ‘A Ritual Most Foul’ waits to drive cold spikes of guitar into your skull with iron hammer drums. Each element of Christ Dismembered plays its part perfectly, building an edifice of unapologetic black metal, unswerving in its focus and intensity. ‘Child Devouring Servants Of Satan’ is a magnificent, blood drenched rampage through the temples of innocence and purity, it’s murderous malice matched only by its sorcerous songcraft; but even that must bend the knee to ‘Riddled With Sin’, a triumphant climax of evil, epic in scope and daunting in its fury, that brings Ov Vampiricy full circle and closes the door to the mausoleum once more.

Over the years of their crusade against the light Christ Dismembered have performed alongside the likes of Taake, Immolation, Krisiun, Angelcorpse, Belphegor, Dark Funeral and many more, sharing stages with the very best that the extreme music world has to offer. Up-and-coming Death-Thrash quintet 'Common Evil' hail from Gippsland, Victoria (Aus). The group boast a distinct, powerful feel to their live performances that, paired with their old school style, punishing riffs and raw songwriting approach result in a devastating sound heavily influenced by the 80/90's metal scene. Formed in 2018, the wheels didn't start rolling until a crushing first performance at Whole Lotta Love Bar in Brunswick, Melbourne in January of 2024 and then a slew of other performances in Fitzroy, Northcote, Brunswick, Geelong and a hometown gig in Traralgon.
