ENSLAVED TO STREAM WINTER SOLSTICE SHOW

PRESS RELEASE:

ENSLAVED's new studio album Utgard was recently released into the world, the concept of which explores the esoteric place in Norse mythology that celebrates the rebirth of the individual - a place where one goes for unification of that which is above and that which lies below. A reckoning of dark and light, of night and day.

In continued celebration of Utgard's release, tied in with the upcoming Winter Solstice (a Pagan holy day marking the symbolic death and rebirth of the Sun), the band are proud to announce a Winter Solstice streaming event for Saturday 19th December via the Revolver Magazine Facebook page, which will be followed by a live Q&A with some band members.

The digital event will feature all three parts of ENSLAVED's recent Cinematic Summer Tour, the revered filmed performances titled; 'Chronicles of the Northbound', 'Below the Lights' and 'Utgard the Journey Within'.

The performances will be presented by Revolver Magazine, and will be repeated the next day Sunday 20th December on the Enslaved YouTube channel. The events are also collaborations with respected European festivals Roadburn, Beyond The Gates and Summer Breeze.

ENSLAVED's Ivar Bjørnson commented: "We are moving towards the end of a year where many of us have experienced disappointments and perhaps a feeling of something being lost. In our part of the world one could easily start feeling as if the daily decrease in daylight hours is a double underlining of the misery that will be forever associated with 2020. There is no point in sweeping it under the rug; the pandemic has been, and still is, a total and utter bummer. It is affecting, and in the most negative of ways: our basic social needs, our instinct to move around travel, to do our job; you want to do it - Corona will stop you.

But we do our best, and we find new paths in the dark. That is what humans do - and more often than not we are helped by not only those close to us - but by larger groups formed and joined by common interests, for example. The enormity of the support, and the strength of the community we have felt and experienced as Enslaved this year, has been fantastic. With fond new memories of a vibrant and expanding Enslaved-community throughout the very same year that tried so hard to bring us all down - perspectives start to change and brighten: these shorter and shorter days are definitely not a count-down to some impending doom on the horizon: they are reminders of the change that lies ahead of us. They will keep on darkening until that Shortest of Days - Winter Solstice. Whether you are guided and inspired by old traditions and rites like us, or if you prefer to stick to the scientific observations of Earth’s poles reaching their maximum tilt away from the Sun, before starting the way back towards warmer and sunnier days - we hope you will join us in what we expect to the be a very special and highly charged celebration of the Death and Rebirth of the Sun this year.

It does not matter if the troubles are not “over” yet - we will celebrate through music and our bonds; that we have made it through 2020, that we are still here, that we still have our community and that we make each other strong. That strength will carry over, into yet another new solar cycle - and make us ready to face whatever the coming times have in store for us."

MACABRE RELEASE ANIMATED VIDEO FOR "JOE BALL WAS HIS NAME"

PRESS RELEASE:

Two weeks ago, Chicago legends of Murder Metal/Death Metal MACABRE released their demented, heinous bloodbath of an album, Carnival Of Killers via Nuclear Blast. Today, the band reveal the video for "Joe Ball Was His Name" which was created by Sweden’s Amanda Odenlid who previously made MACABRE MINSTRELS (Macabre unplugged) videos for “The Cat Came Back," "Found A Peanut," "The Geins," & "Tom Dooley”.

Watch the animated video for "Joe Ball Was His Name" here: https://youtu.be/O8_WaVOwfA4

MACABRE's Corporate Death comments, "Joe Ball was a serial killer called the Alligator Man. I started writing this song around our Grim Scary Tales era, but never actually finished it until getting things in place to record Carnival Of Killers. Reading more about him and his evil deeds from way back in the 1930’s I tried to give the song an old-time ragtime feel. I hope you like it, it’s a little different, but so are we.

Amanda Odenlid quote: "I made the Macabre Minstrels videos just for fun, back when my interest in true crime had really taken off full force (thanks to discovering Macabre, actually).

The "chibi"-style I used first saw the light of day when I started making a sort of tongue-in-cheek webcomic about Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer living together. I like the style because it is simple but expressive, and I also like the clash that occurs between the cartoony VS the grotesque and morbid. Having listened to Macabre for 10+ years has made me realize that, while morbid, there is also quite a lot of dark humor in their music as well. Kind of like my own art, in a way.

As for this new video about Joe Ball; making it basically forced me out of an art-block I'd been having, also making me rediscover how fun it was to draw in this old chibi-style of mine. I went from only having heard of Ball's name somewhere, to almost knowing everything about him that there is to know (except his exact body-count). Despite the grim subject-matter, it was really fun to learn something new and to revisit my old passions for drawing and video-making!"

WITHERFALL RELEASE VIDEO FOR "AS I LIE AWAKE"

PRESS RELEASE:

The moon, an autumnal atmosphere, fog in the woods, vampires and a wicked storyteller – as an 80s horror fan you’ll get everything you desired by watching the cinematic new video clip for WITHERFALL’s “As I Lie Awake”. The video was directed by the renown director Zev Deans who didn’t just do spectacular videos for the likes of Ghost, Behemoth or Chelsea Wolfe, but also Denzel Curry and St. Vincent.

Dim the lights, sit back and enjoy “As I Lie Awake (Official Video)”: https://youtu.be/KFbrq-n17Gs

WITHERFALL comments: “’As I Lie Awake’ is the catchiest WITHERFALL song to date. It was created with much arguing and loud drunken chicanery. Early on the band and producer Jon Schaffer agreed that this should be the lead single. Director Zev Deans who had directed Ghost’s ‘Dance Macabre’ was enlisted for the job and the video for ‘As I Lie Awake’ features a great ‘Lost Boys’ styled treatment. Thanks again to Duffs in Brooklyn, we didn’t mean to spill blood and wine on your carpet…”

Director Zev Deans about the video: “When Joseph sent me the song, it immediately transported me to an era when both heavy metal and horror movies were all about sex, blood and ultimately, a good time! Movies like ‘The Lost Boys’ were in the movie theaters and long-format music videos like ‘Thriller’ were on MTV.”

“As I Lie Awake” is the second single taken from “Curse Of Autumn”, the upcoming album from L.A.’s finest WITHERFALL that is scheduled for a worldwide street date on March 5th, 2021 with the US vinyl being available April 2nd, 2021. Preorders will be launched shortly.

What could possibly be a better time of the year to dive headfirst into dark melodic metal? While the shadows of winter are creeping up upon us and the nights get longer it is the perfect time for “Curse Of Autumn” to unfold.

The album art is once again another hand painted masterpiece by the legendary Kristian Wåhlin, the fourth painting in the WITHERFALL series.

“Curse Of Autumn” was produced by Jon Schaffer (Iced Earth, Demons & Wizards) for Ravencraft Productions, Joseph Michael (vocals, keyboards, also in Sanctuary) and Jake Dreyer (guitar, also in Iced Earth, Demons & Wizards). For the recording and mix they teamed up with Jim Morris (Savatage, Iced Earth, Kamelot, Death) while Tom Morris took over mastering duties. After most WITHERFALL songs were written with just an acoustic guitar, pen and paper and copious amounts of red wine, it was the group effort of the full production team that made a difference. “Jon Schaffer and Jim Morris really brought a lot of energy to these sessions”, Michael comments.

WITHERFALL are:

Joseph Michael - Vocals/Keyboards (also in Sanctuary)

Jake Dreyer - Acoustic and Electric Guitars (also in Iced Earth/Demons & Wizards)

Anthony Crawford - Bass (Chon, Shalmor, Allan Holdsworth, Justin Timberlake, Kirk Whalum…)

Marco Minnemann - Drums (The Aristocrats, Joe Satriani, Steven Wilson, Tony Levin, Jordan Rudess, Necrophagist…)

Alex Nasla - Live Keyboards

HIDEOUS DIVINITY RELEASE DRUMS PLAYTHROUGH FOR "ANAMORPHIA ATTO III"

PRESS RELEASE:

Italian Technical Death Metal force HIDEOUS DIVINITY release a drum playthrough video for the track “Anamorphia Atto III” taken off of their current album “SIMULACRUM”, which got released in 2019. Check out the video HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uos4s2HLG50

With a strong passion for drums since the early childhood, Giulio Galati started taking drum lessons at the age of 10 with Armando Bertozzi, Stefano Rossini, Daniele Pomo (St. Louis College of Music), Lucrezio De Seta, Ettore Fioravanti (Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music) and Giampaolo Rao.

The educational path led him through different music styles like jazz, Latin, fusion, and rock. Thanks to the influence of all these styles and the variety of music listened to, he evolved to metal drumming and to the use of the double pedal by developing a personal language that attempts to melt together everything he has been and continues to be exposed to.

Huge inspirations were and still are Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta, Kiko Freitas, Gavin Harrison, Mike Portnoy, George Kollias, Derek Roddy, and Thomas Haake.

IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT RELEASE VIDEO FOR "EXCELSIOR"

PRESS RELEASE:

New York avant-garde metal outfit IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT release their new music video for “Excelsior”, directed by the band’s very own Steve Blanco. Watch the video HERE!

“Many people flock to the big city with golden dreams in their eyes willing to do whatever it takes to succeed, like the ones they see at the top. It is the seal of approval; The medieval crest upon which the very fabric of humanity’s elevation prevails. The failure and losing streak is a deceptive reality that slowly finds its way as diminishing returns, caught up in the illusory system. Ever upwards,” states Imperial Triumphant bassist Steve Blanco about the music video.

“Excelsior” is off the band’s newest full-length album Alphaville , which came out this past summer via Century Media Records. The album was produced and engineered at New York’s Menegroth Studio by Colin Marston (Behold... The Arctopus, Dysrhythmia, Krallice and Gorguts) and Trey Spruance (Mr. Bungle). The album also features a number of special guests such as Tomas Haake (Meshuggah) on taiko drums, Phlegeton (Wormed) on guest vocals, Yoshiko Ohara (ex-Bloody Panda) as part of the choirs, RK Halvorson as part of the Barbershop quartet, Sarai Chrzanowski as part of the choirs, Andromeda Anarchia (Folterkammer, Dark Matters) as part of the choirs, J Walter Hawkes on the trombone, and Colin Marston on guitars. Alphaville can be streamed and purchased HERE.

Just this Tuesday, the band announced the pre-order of their Alphaville cassette tape, which will ship in December and will be available in two unique editions. The deluxe edition will be available in 100 copies in an ultra clear tape shell with metallic gold print and a Norelco case with an additional slipcase. It will also include a 4 panel cover foldout, an embossed Total Dissonance Worship card, a sticker pack and will be signed by each band member. The standard edition will be available in 100 copies in a metallic gold tape shell with metallic silver print and a Norelco case with a horizontal obi strip. Pre-order the Alphaville cassette tape HERE.

IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT officially began in 2012 with their debut release Abominamentvm. The line-up consisted of Zachary Ilya Ezrin on guitar/vocals and the rhythm section of their NYC contemporaries: Pyrrhon. Soon they met with drummer Kenny Grohowski and began to feature him on their next two releases Goliath (EP) and Abyssal Gods (LP). In 2015, they introduced bassist Steven Blanco to their lineup. In 2016, they released another EP Inceste, which saw them tour heavily that year with temporary second guitarist Max Gorelick. 2018 brought about their magnum statement, Vile Luxury . The full-length album, written collectively by the trio (Ezrin, Grohowski, Blanco), was a homage to their hometown New York City that brought jazz elements to the avant-garde black metal style in a way never achieved before. They toured extensively in Europe and North America from 2018-19 in support of the groundbreaking full-length.

IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT is Zachary Ilya Ezrin (vocals, guitars), Steve Blanco (bass, vocals, piano, mellotron, synths, taiko drums) and Kenny Grohowski (drums, taiko drums).

LORNA SHORE RELEASE DRUMS PLAYTHROUGH FOR "DEATH PORTRAIT"

PRESS RELEASE:

New Jersey extreme metal band LORNA SHORE releases their new drum playthrough of “Death Portrait”. Watch the playthrough of drummer Austin Archey premiering exclusively on Sick Drummer HERE

“Death Portrait” is off the band’s latest full-length, Immortal, which came out earlier this year via Century Media Records to rave reviews. The band have released music videos for “King Ov Deception”, “Death Portrait”, and “ Immortal” off the new LP, which was written by guitarist Adam DeMicco and drummer Austin Archey and was produced by Josh Schroeder (The Color Morale, In Hearts Wake). Immortal is available to stream and purchase HERE.

Formed in 2010, LORNA SHORE is quick to surpass expectations with 2012’s Bone Kingdom EP and it’s follow-up, 2013’s Malificium EP, which peaked at #3 on the US iTunes Metal charts.

Through each release, LORNA SHORE continues to prove themselves to be an increasingly formidable force and a ferocious live proposition. 2017’s sophomore LP, Flesh Coffin showed a band that had moved beyond mere “deathcore” trappings and had evolved into a modern metal band, as uncompromising and accomplished as any of their contemporaries or influences. Topping their previous output with their third full-length and Century Media debut, Immortal was refined and perfected over a two-year period. Immortal marks the next stage in LORNA SHORE’s development as America’s newest extreme metal powerhouse.

“Lorna Shore is about to make you mosh around your house thanks to their new track ‘Death Portrait’.” – Metal Injection

“To anyone who wants solid and masterfully executed deathcore through and through, Immortal is your newest favorite.” – Metal Sucks

“Lorna Shore is, indeed, a deathcore band, and Immortal proves that they just might be the very best.” – Metal Insider
