Finnish melodic death-doom metallers THE BLEAK PICTURE, featuring current and ex members of Autumnfall and Fall Of The Leafe, will release their debut album “Meaningless” on March 22nd 2024 via Ardua Music.

The band’s doomy riffage borders on death metal heaviness, but the music manages to escape from the shallows of repetitiveness continuing in the atmospheric groove traced by the band's acclaimed first EP, with greater emphasis on dark melodies that wrap the songs in a cosmic shroud of stars. The vocal lines frequently alternate registers, offering haunted wailing cleans, catchier verses and dread-filled death calls. The sound is instantly familiar with nods to the ‘90s, but never sounds retro or like mere homage.

THE BLEAK PICTURE was founded in 2021 as a side project of the duo's main band, Autumnfall. The first promo was written, recorded and digitally released the same year. In 2022, the promo caught Alone Records’ ear and so it was remixed and mastered with the addition of real drums, and released on CD and LP.

The duo didn’t stop there but begun work on their debut album ”Meaningless” and finally after what feels like an eternity, the album will be released in March 2024 by Ardua Music on CD and on all major digital platforms.

Bleak and desolate, without forgetting beautiful melodies, THE BLEAK PICTURE dives deep into murky waters that can also be called melodic death doom metal.

MASTIFF TO RELEASE "DEPRECIPICE"

Decibel Magazine is currently streaming Deprecipice, the latest full-length from brutal metallic sludge outfit MASTIFF, in its demoralizing entirety. The premiere comes on the eve of the record’s official release Friday, March 22nd via MNRK Heavy.

Everything MASTIFF does is in the name of intensity. Since forming amid the misery of Kingston-Upon-Hull in 2013, the UK five-piece have crashed extreme metal, sludge, and hardcore together to create the most brutal sonic onslaughts possible all in the name of keeping their music fresh, raw, and seething.

Signing to MNRK Heavy three years ago, MASTIFF’s commitment to blunt-force aggression remains untempered. Their 2021 album, Leave Me The Ashes Of The Earth, was described by Blabbermouth’s Dom Lawson as a, “horrifying slab of disgust,” and a, “sustained scream in the face of uncontrollable madness.” Now comes its long-anticipated follow-up, Deprecipice, an album that, somehow, smacks even harder than anything this band has unchained before, produced by longtime collaborator Joe Clayton (Wallowing, Ithaca, Tuskar) at Manchester’s No Studio.

“We’ve gone quite a lot towards a hardcore sound,” says vocalist Jim Hodge. “Where the last one was more death metal, this one’s a lot more staccato: a lot more defined, riff-wise.”

Unlike so many of their extreme metal peers right now, though, MASTIFF didn’t source this rejuvenated savagery from the anxieties and frustrations of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the lockdowns ended and real life started to resume in 2021 and 2022, Hodge and guitarist/vocalist James Lee Ross noticed the spirits of the world around them lifting. Feelings of trauma and isolation were beginning to enter people’s rear-view mirrors – and it was an overcoming that the duo couldn’t relate to. Ross was mourning the loss of his mother, while Hodge realized he was still grieving over the death of his five-day-old son, Isaac, in 2010.

“The album’s called Deprecipice, and that pretty much sums up where me and James were when we wrote it,” says the singer. “We were both standing back on the edge of a depressive void.”

With Deprecipice, MASTIFF has made a magnum opus that bleeds with genuine pain.

Writes Decibel Magazine, "As always, MASTIFF’s sound is rooted in aggressive sludge metal and metallic hardcore. On Deprecipice, they draw more heavily from the second, cranking out a steady flow of thick, chugging riffs and raucous mosh parts. The opening one-two punch of ‘Bite Radius’ and ‘Everything Is Ending’ sets the mood: these are songs for when you’re at the end of your rope, when hopeless lyrics and vicious fight riffs make more sense than therapy or promises of better days..."

Insepultus Unveils Debut Album: "Deadly Gleams of Blood, Steel and Fire"

Insepultus, the enigmatic solo black metal project hailing from the depths of southern Romania, announces the upcoming release of their debut album, "Deadly Gleams of Blood, Steel and Fire," set to unleash its fury on December 15, 2023. Under the creative vision of the mysterious figure known only as "Sep," Insepultus delivers a sonic journey that defies easy categorization, blending black and death metal elements with epic storytelling.

Formed in 1998, Insepultus emerged from Sep's creative depths, culminating in the release of the demo "The Hell Will Rise Again" in 2003, showcasing a raw and muddy sound indicative of the era. As life led Sep through various musical ventures, including notable roles in bands such as Irkalla, Avskild, and Taine, Insepultus lay dormant momentarily.

In 2018, Sep embarked on a journey to revive Insepultus, driven by a desire to create new material with a refined sound. This resurgence culminates in the forthcoming debut album, "Deadly Gleams of Blood, Steel and Fire," set to captivate audiences with its visceral intensity and emotive storytelling.

The album delves into the emotional landscapes of war, drawing inspiration from Sep's personal encounter with mortality and reflections on life choices. Collaborating with esteemed artist Costin Chioreanu for the album artwork, Insepultus brings haunting drawings inspired by World War I photographs to vivid life, enhancing the album's thematic depth.

"Insepultus," translating to "Unburied" in Latin, reflects Sep's unwavering commitment to the project, despite discovering a similarly named band later on. With meticulous attention to detail, Sep crafts each composition, instrument, and recording, enlisting the talents of Nikola Dušmanić, Ezequiel Lagrotta, and Jeremy Diener for specific elements on the album.

As Insepultus prepares for a resurgence, plans for a compelling live production in 2024 are underway, guided by the experienced hands of Mihai Coro Caraveteanu, Sep's former bandmate from Irkalla. With influences rooted in the '90s black metal scene, Insepultus invites metal enthusiasts worldwide to join their journey with horns raised high, staying true to the essence of metal.

It leads me through the dark, but only further into the endless black. The voices of ghosts, spirits capricious and malicious my only companions, as I stumble on through the soul-searing cold, through the night country, through this world of death…

Thanatopoeia, the debut full length album from Meister Leonhardt, is as raw as frostbite, as cold as death…there is no comfort to be found here; only a howling blizzard of choking darkness, an unbearable emptiness that can never be filled. This is black metal pared to the bone, leaving only its chilling, hopeless essence. Perfectly formed from ashes, decay, ice and spite, these eight arias to despair are shattering hammer blows to the illusions we hide behind on our bitter stagger from womb to tomb.
