The Finnish dark metal band Horizon of Aeons are set to release their debut album, Timeless Forms of Desolation, on 29 May 2026 via Inverse Records. The band comments:

"The title of the song is taken from the book written by Sarah J. Maas. The lyrics are loosely based on that story. The vow of absolute loyalty and brotherhood binds us to one another until our very last breath. The doomy atmosphere in the first part of the song is crushingly heavy, but only momentarily until the melodic relief comes. Later in the song, the heaviness returns, followed by beautiful melodies from keyboards and guitar, and the outro features three consecutive key modulations. This is something you don’t hear every day in metal music."

BIOGRAPHY:

Horizon of Aeons is a gothic dark metal band founded in 2024, bringing together seasoned musicians from the Finnish metal scene. The band consists of Miska Lehtivuori (vocals, guitar), Ville Pekkala (guitar), Pekka Venho (bass), and Pekka Jokela (drums). These members have a rich history of playing together in various bands (Fall of the Leafe, Ablaze in Hatred, Searing Meadow, Mormânt De Snagov, Leaflet, Jackie’s Land), which laid the foundation for their cohesive and powerful sound.

Horizon of Aeons’ musical influences are as diverse as the members’ extensive  backgrounds in the metal scene. Each member brings a wealth of experience from their  previous bands, contributing to the band’s unique sound.

Together, these musicians create a sound that is both intense and melodic, drawing from a wide array of metal subgenres. Their influences span across various styles, allowing them to craft a distinctive musical identity that is uniquely their own. This blend of experience and inspiration results in a sound that is both familiar and innovative, pushing the boundaries of gothic dark metal.

2022 Remaster of the album 'All The Filthy Ones', a brighter, louder mix with an alternate track order.

Souls of Hades and Sewerside Records proudly present "All The Filthy Ones" the long awaited follow up to 2018s "Lay Your Bones". Pushed in a far gloomier direction than the previous release, with cuts like 'Lucifer', 'Dead Black Nothing' and the lead single 'On Blackest Wings' adding a layer of gothic love and deathrock to the bands punk and darkrock sound. If you are a fan of the bands harder and faster sensibilities though, this album still caters to you with hard hitters such as "I'm Gone", "Take it", "Born Criminal" and "Riders of The Dark" among others.

Recorded in multiple sessions between 2018 and 2020, (starting before Lay Your Bones was even released), this album captures on tape the massive growth and experience this band has had over the last few years in musicallity, song writing, and general tightness as a band, resulting in a massive 24 song set of recordings weeded out into this one epic 15 song album. The rest of the recordings being reserved for a follow up album to be released next year.

This album is also the first to feature rhythm guitarist Nigel Von Toxic, who joined the band on stage in 2017 to support the release of Lay Your Bones.

Where All Rivers Merge takes on a dark philosophy of where all paths lead, whether natural, spiritual or a worriers path, all end and all essence converges to a great surging river over time. A place where all paths lead through the gates of death or greater.

The lengthy, fickle recording and mixing for this album has lead to some jarring changes in sound through it's many tracks but the themes of life, nature and many fantastical dark stories reigns true it it's walls of sound.

Some tracks were recorded, written or even mixed years apart. Though my recording styles and habits have changed over time, along with the gear I use, I still wanted to keep the same vision I had years ago and style consistency. But at last it is finally released to the world.

This is the first part of this twin concept album release of raging raw atmospheric black metal and peaceful fantasy/medieval style ethereal ambience, the second part will be released hopefully some time next year or later.

Devourer was formed by multi-instrumentalist John Falk (Sorcery, ex-In Aeternum) in Sandviken, Sweden 2002. The first demo came out in 2003, and then four full-length albums and a handful of videos and singles have been released. Vocalist Fredrik Håf (Patronymicon, Sordid Flesh) joined Devourer in 2007, and bassist Oksana Falk (Teodolit) and guitarist Johan Vikholm (Sorcery, Patronymicon) joined the band in 2019. Raptus is Devourer's fourth full-length album. It was written and produced by Devourer, and the cover art has a design made by Vald de Mar. ANCIENT THRONES RELEASE THIRD SINGLE FROM NEW ALBUM "THE VEIL"

ANCIENT THRONES have a new single out “Divided/Dissolve”, taken off the anguish filled cosmic adventure found in their debut, under this new band name (formerly Abysseral Throne), the album “The Veil”.

“Divided/Dissolve” follows the character of the story into stage four of grief, where he is massively depressed by the revelation feeling the division from his world. From earth crushing riffs and face-melting guitar solos to the overarching theme of grief and devastation that the record encompasses, this single really ramps up the intensity. It stays a fairly constant onslaught of intense guitar riffs while still retaining a melodic edge.

Towards the end, it really shifts gears and slow things way down to some doomy type territory and a very textured fade out outro. The band explains the album in their own words:

“It is the face of endless tragedy through an impressive onslaught of exchanging guitar riffs which show the increased intensity of anguish in the latter half of the album. Pulling you through a hopeless path and digging through the painful burrow of crushing technical sharp death metal until you finally arrive at the earned and complete emotional climax of the record that is the Dissolve. This track takes no prisoners and tolerates no sympathy in its entirety, beckoning you to question your own sorrow and resistance to fulfillment.”

“The Veil” is a natural evolution in sound, form, and change in style that led the band to become Ancient Thrones. This is unlike anything the members have released before. Recommended for fans of The Red Chord, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Wolves in the Throne Room.

Formed in 2011, they quickly went to work to establish themselves among their scene and gained local notoriety eventually allowing them the opportunities to open for renowned metal acts from across the globe.

Sean Hickey (drums/vocals) is the sole original founder of Abysseral remaining, Matt LeBlanc joined in 2015 on bass and improved and refined the sound and operation drastically. Once they lost their original singer and guitar player Jonny Rains, Dylan Wallace joined and took over main songwriting duties. Hickey took over completely on vocals with a black/death metal vocal style, and Nick Leslie joined shortly after on the second guitar. Work began on writing a new album which took about 3 months to write the music for. The new material sparked the name change to Ancient Thrones as an homage to one of Hickey’s favorite bands and inspirations, Wolves in the Throne Room.

In 2013 the band released its debut record and its subsequent follow-up in 2016, “Storming The Black Gate”, which was nominated for an East Coast Music Award. Ancient Thrones have toured throughout Canada, and played at several festivals, sharing the stages with bands such as Silverstein, The Agonist, Black Crown Initiate, and Skull Fist.

2020 sees the release of the concept album “The Veil” showcasing the band’s desire for storytelling and pushing them to new heights musically. The new album explores the journey of a man faced with tragedy, his mortality and ultimately the permanence of our actions told through technical soundscapes and haunting atmosphere.

Colombian blackened metallers ESHTADUR are excited for the imminent release of their new album From the Abyss, September 4th via Nuclear Blast's Blood Blast Distribution.

ESHTADUR launched in the fall of 2005 releasing the "Timo Be Timo" demo with a sound inspired by At The Gates, Soilwork, and SepticFlesh. Since then, they have released a pair of EPs and a potent trio of albums. The band embodies a deathly melodic atmosphere that reaches into realms of darkness and despair through the decay of humanity. With a name translating to "rebellion of angels," this Colombian outfit seeks to rebel in its own darkened way, embracing the abject reality.

Their rich touring history includes performances across Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia. They have shared the stage and toured with Cradle of Filth, Vader, Graveworm, Coldblood, Abbadon Incarnate and more in shows all over the world, and even headlined a stage at Rock Al Parque, Colombia's premiere heavy music festival, in 2016.

ESHTADUR toured through Europe to support their 2017 album Mother Gray (via Bleeding Music Records).  Now set to unleash their new work From the Abyss through Nuclear Blast's Blood Blast Distribution on September 4th, there's nowhere for these rebellious angels to go but up.

GREY SKIES FALLEN RELEASES "INTROSPECTIVE/ ALONG CAME LIFE"

Blackened death doom metal band Grey Skies Fallen will release the "Introspective/Along Came Life" album. The album is a compilation of two previously released EP. Here is the press statement:

"GREY SKIES FALLEN's new "Introspective/Along Came Life" CD, manifesting two prior digital EPs from the New York City-area blackened death/doom metal outfit in a digipak physical form for the first time, is out now directly through the band."

"The fourth release from GREY SKIES FALLEN, the four-song "Along Came Life" EP, was released in 2010, recorded during tumultuous times for the band. This is the last recording with original member Joe D'Angelo on guitar, and sitting in on bass was Paul LaPlaca (October Thorns, Zandelle). Two years later, they released the three-song "Introspective" EP, the 2012 recording captured at a point when the band was technically a three-piece, with Dave Case (Helmet, Afterbirth) providing bass tracks. This EP features the twenty-one minute title track, perhaps the most ambitious recording from the band to date. Both recorded at Keith Moore at his Audio Playground in Patchogue, New York, together, these "lost EPs" fill the void between GSF LPs, bridging 2006's Two Way Mirror, and 2014's The Many Sides of Truth, and now see rebirth in one deluxe digipak CD, displaying the artwork by Travis Smith in a physical delivery for the first time."
