Criciúma, Santa Catarina, Brazil – December 13, 2024 – Brazilian modern metal trailblazers As The Palaces Burn have unleashed their newest single, “Zodiac,” now available on all major streaming platforms. This blistering track combines the raw energy of traditional heavy metal with the precision of modern metal, creating a seamless connection between the band’s origins and their continued evolution.
“Zodiac” draws inspiration from the chilling story of the Zodiac Killer, the infamous and unidentified criminal who terrorized the United States in the 1960s. The track revisits and expands upon themes from “Arcanum,” a standout from the band’s 2019 debut album, End’evour.
Drummer and lyricist Gilson Naspolini explains:
“Zodiac offers a glimpse into the killer’s dark, introspective psyche while weaving a lyrical thread back to ‘Arcanum.’ Diego Bittencourt’s original composition didn’t initially focus on this theme, but I reimagined it to create a seamless connection—both melodically and narratively. This track captures the essence of ‘Arcanum’s’ enigmatic aura while introducing a harrowing, sinister storyline.”
The single, accompanied by a captivating lyric video (watch here), reflects the band’s growth and artistic ambition. With stellar production from Adair Daufembach and eye-catching artwork by Carlos Fides, “Zodiac” highlights As The Palaces Burn’s ability to fuse diverse influences into a distinctive and powerful sound.

Since their formation in 2018, As The Palaces Burn has cemented their place in Brazil’s thriving metal community. Their discography includes the 2019 debut album End’evour, the 2020 EP All The Evil (featuring a cover of Savatage’s “Hall of the Mountain King”), and the 2022 EP Offer to the Gods, which paid homage to Brazilian metal legends Angra, Dr. Sin, and Sepultura. Their 2023 single “Into Emotions” served as a prelude to the critically acclaimed full-length album Drowning Into Shadows.
