Slava Zima represents a new interpretation, a new meaning - a fresh sound amidst the multitude. The project was conceived at the dawn of 2021, when the spark of an idea regarding isolation ignited within its creator’s fevered mind. Only a new beginning could serve as the catalyst; amidst the darkness of existence and consciousness, the decision was made to forge an entirely new universe.
Rooted on the edge of the Belarusian marshlands - a realm defined by the legends and folklore of the native soil - Slava Zima took shape and endured from 2021 to 2023. In 2023, the project was joined by the renowned Belarusian vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Andrei Apanovich, marking the formation of an enduring, immortal union between the two musicians. The first album, Viatry ("Winds"), drew inspiration from the works of classic Belarusian folk poets and neoclassical writers. The second album, Harmidar (2025) - accompanied by a music video for the track "Kulamesa" - delivers a sound that is intensely aggressive and heavy; it is a dark, somber work.
Continuing to explore themes of darkness, melancholy, decadence, and oblivion, while weaving in natural motifs through the use of folk instruments, voices, and melodies, the third album promises to surpass all that came before. With professional-grade vocals, recording, and mixing, Slava Zima possesses a distinct, captivating charm. In 2026, the project signed with the label Solistitium Records, opening doors to greater opportunities and wider reach. The new album, Smiarotny ("Mortal"), is set for release in December 2026 across all digital platforms and on Digipak CD.
