Electric Valley Records presents The Stoner Side of the Doom, the debut LP by the Maltese doom/stoner metal group Hemplifier. Other than the standard digital release on all major platforms, the album will be available on three editions of vinyl on 02 June.  

Hemplifier was born in 2019 when amps and vintage gear worshippers Emanuel Portelli (Thy Legion, Victims of Creation, Pilgrimage, Animamortua), Bazaz (Lady Lizard, R.A.S.) and Dino Mifsud Lepre (Victims of Creation, Pilgrimage) joined up for blazing some joints. These Santa Venera stoners formed Hemplifier having common goals of jamming, getting high, enjoying good times, composing the heaviest riffs possible, and sending seismic waves to the planet while spending aboard their spacecraft.

Hemplifier dropped their first offering, Frequencies From Another Dimension – Live From Our Rehearsal Spacecraft!, in November 2021. This live rehearsal, containing three songs (recorded and filmed live in the trio’s own garage), gave the audiences a strong impression of Hemplifier’s warped, antediluvian sound before their live debut at 2021’s edition of Reeferfest, which is organized by the Hemplifier members themselves and currently the only stoner rock/metal fest on the island of Malta. 

Recorded live at the local Cornerhouse Studio, The Stoner Side of the Doom, Hemplifier’s debut full-length, staggers and stumbles through weirdness, wildness, and wonderment. Each of the six distorted tracks (including an intro and an outro) carries amped-up thrills and menaces while disclosing a different set of tales from the crypt. While the openers, “Headless Chicken (intro)” and “Brujo,” are voodoo-themed, “Invocation” and “Weedcraft” touch on the occult, the supernatural, and marijuana, with a hint of science fiction and aliens. The fifth number, “Gort,” embodies the humanoid robot character from the classic 1951 film, The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Eclectic metal outfit DISCONNECTED SOULS immerse themselves in electronic metalcore in their new single "Loveless". Following the atmospheric fantasy single "Dissonant Whispers" released earlier this year, "Loveless" is a more personal and reflective song that challenges expectations of what 'love' is. With each offering the outfit are expanding their musical reach even further - no genre is off limits. "Loveless" will be unleashed on June 14th, 2023. 

"Sonically, 'Loveless' is largely inspired by the heavy, 'clubby' electronic metalcore sound of bands like I SEE STARS and VOID OF VISION, and I wanted to capture that vibe for this track. 'Loveless' is a very personal song to me. I won't go into the specifics, and let the lyrics speak for themselves. It may take a long time to realise and recognise some very important parts of your identity, but when you do, things become a lot clearer." - Patrick (Vocals)

DISCONNECTED SOULS emerged in 2018 out of a desire to incorporate and blend the three great pillars of music, electronic, classical and metal. Following their debut EP Warring Elements, the band have since been releasing a diverse array of singles: "Petrichor" (2021), "Kintsukuroi" (2022) and "Dissonant Whispers" (2023). The quintet based out of Chester, England, strive to create a distinctive sound that draws upon the depths of metal, while playing with tones and textures. Each member brings a diverse range of musical interests to the table and the resulting sound encompasses a wide variety of instrumental and vocal styles. BELTFED WEAPON mourns the loss of project member Tim Aymar.

"Years ago I was searching on YouTube for projects Ronny Munroe former metal church vocalist was involved with then, and I found Beltfed Weapon's P.O.W. and I was impressed. So I checked out more of their stuff. Somewhere along the line Guitarist Frank Hetzel friended me on Facebook and he contacted me about writing lyrics and singing on some of his stuff. I just loved the riffs he came up with. so it didn't take long to get him my tracks. He didn't mention it at first, but I secretly hoped it was for Beltfed Weapon, and my wish came true. I hope to do much more with Frank and the gang in the future." - Tim Aymar 

One day I was listening to Control Denied, and as this is one of my favorite albums of all time, I said to myself 'I sure would love to work with Tim Aymar. I wonder what he would think if I messaged him .' I was also impressed with his work in (Helios and Pharaoh), so I sent him a message on Facebook (as we have been friends on there for a while), and he replied, 'yea, I've liked your band Beltfed Weapon for some time and I would love to be involved with this.' I was super stoked, so I sent him the tunes and he got to work on them right away. Tim had a different way of writing. He sent me the vocal melodies worked out with a trumpet, with major keys in the melodies. This method sounded very odd to me, but I could envision the vocals with it. Once he sent over the vocal tracks, all was perfect. Tim said he learned how to do vocal melodies this way from Chuck Schuldiner. Tim's lyrics have always touched me. It was an honor for me to have had this opportunity to work with him. I really wish I could work with him again and that he was here to witness the release of the Darkened Demise EP.. So, I am honoring his life and memory and dedicating this EP to him. I know all he wanted was to have his music heard. That was most important to him. I am not certain, but do believe the song 'Eternal Fire' was the last song Tim recorded before he passed. I will miss him and remember what we shared together forever, R.I.P. BIO:

Tombstalker’s story began in 2008 in Lexington, KY when several of the founding members were still teenagers. Throughout their early days as a band they released several demos, EPs, and eventually a debut full-length in 2015. During this time they scoured the American underground circuit setting out on multiple nationwide tours as well as festival appearances cementing themselves as true warriors.

Stylistically, they forged a distinctive sound heavily steeped in Scandinavian style black death as well as d-beat crust punk; not a common combination found on American soil thus setting them apart from their peers in many respects.

Around 2017, Tombstalker entered an extended hiatus with zero activity due to lineup complications. Much doubt would be cast in the coming years as to whether they would return. That doubt has been exstinguished with Age of Darkness.
