ILLEGAL MIND RELEASE "FROM THE ASHES"

PRESS RELEASE:

Illegal Mind, already gracing the pages of Power Play Magazine, Rock Hard Italy, and Headbangersnews.com, destroys musical norms by fusing 90s nu-metal, 00s ROCK, and industrial, crafting a uniquely powerful sound. Fueled by a fervent passion for post-apocalyptic themes, their bold experimentation promises an unprecedented, genre-defying journey in the new album "From The Ashes".

Stream the album here: https://youtu.be/18C8cWgvvnA

From Tel Aviv's post-apocalyptic streets, Illegal Mind, born in February 2018, channels dystopian reflections into a rebellious sonic journey inspired by 20th-century post-apocalyptic literature and pop culture. Their 2020 EP, "Forbidden Conten" unveiled tracks like "Free" and "Bleeding Sky" accompanied by visually striking lyric videos. Undaunted by the pandemic, they persistently innovate, inviting listeners on a thrilling odyssey through unexplored sonic territories.

"From The Ashes" born from the transformation of a full band to a solo project, was conceived in an Ashqelon bomb shelter. Mastermind Maxx Dee, taking a DIY approach, recorded and mixed the album, skillfully blending genres like nu-metal and pop punk to align with the band's vision. Originally penned before the current Middle East conflict (2023), the songs now carry an added dimension, offering a poignant reflection on a world gone insane.

REVIEW: FINAL CONCLUSION - ELEMENT 87

FINAL CONCLUSION - ELEMENT 87 (Casket Productions, 2002)

 Mastered By: Martin Barbour

Tracks: 1- Butterflies, 2- Diesel, 3- Lesson Learned

Cover Art by Final Conclusion

Recorded at Philia Studios

Here we have a MCD from this heavy band that creates interesting riffs while adding an industrial feeling to their music through some samples. Here we have incredible drumming (with a machine like drumming sound....palms to the rhythm section that is extremely tight). There is one thing that I want to remark and that are the vocals....yes, this vocals give the band a lot of identity as you can listen on each of the choruses of the three songs contained on this album. The songs are brutal and they have many death metal influences that combined with the influence of bands like Sepultura or Fear Factory create Final Conclusion´s sound. I recommend this album to those who want something new and music that is really well mixed adding power to the compositions.

REVIEW: CHILLBURN - ENEMIES OF SILENCE

CHILLBURN - ENEMIES OF SILENCE (Independent, 2002)

Produced By: Chillburn

Tracks: 1- Supermodel, 2- Mr. Emptyhead, 3- Hit the Killswitch, 4- Sane for a Day

This guys have achieved a great thing...from the beginning I can not stop singing the chorus of the first track of this album called "Supermodel". This track is a potential hit for this guys. Chillburn´s music has many elements of pop music and many of heavy rock. The main thing here are the vocal melodies that are combined with anelectronic background and some keybaords that add a darker atmosphere to the tracks. The guitars in "Mr Emptyhead" sound powerful and at the same time really processed to achieve a distinctive sound. When combined with the electronics and the ethereal vocals one can listen to the Chillburn sound. I really liked this album and I wouldn´t be surprised if some day I found this guys on top of the rock charts.

Favorite tracks: "Supermodel" and "Hit the killswitch"

REVIEW: ARTDISORDER - FALLEN

ARTDISORDER - FALLEN (Independent, 2002)

Produced By: Artdisorder and Andy Whitmore

Tracks: 1- Fallen

Cover Art by www.lethal-dose.com

Here is a single extracted from the "Sounding Colours". This is with no doubt one of the most aggressive tracks on that recording, and it has amazing melodies on the choruses with some processed vocals while having huge guitars doing rhythmic riffs and powerful drumming. Again I recommend this band to those lovers of heavy music with amny melodies and interesting compositional skills on their music.

REVIEW: ARTDISORDER - SOUNDING COLOURS

ARTDISORDER - SOUNDING COLOURS (Independent, 2002)

Produced By: Artdisorder

Tracks: 1- Contrasting Shapes, 2- Fallen, 3- Abstract, 4- Virgo, 5- Fallen (UK Single Version)

Cover Art by www.lethal-dose.com

Recorded at Psychotic Reaction Studios

Here is a band that I am sure that with a good promotion could be one of the biggest name in the scene. Here we have a band with huge heavy guitar but with a pop feeling in the vocals that add a lot of hooks in each of the tracks on this album. Yes, each song here is memorable as hell while having heavy riffs and many changes. It really amazes me how well the songs are developed here and how you can sing them following the band . There is also heavy use of clean guitars in many parts and interesting drumming that add some progressive touches to the music here. I would recommend this to anyone that wants something new (and something that can go up in the charts really soon!)

REVIEW: 4LYN - NEON

4LYN - NEON (Rodeostar Recs., 2002)

Produced By: Florian Sommer & Darren Grahn

Tracks: 1- Me Vs Me, 2- 2nd Round, 3- Deadnekk, 4- Pearls and Beauty, 5- Not like You, 6- Lil Indians, 7- Real cutties, 8- Angry Horns, 9- U know nothing (bonus), 10- None of Y All, 11- Brompton-City Anthem, 12- Husky, 13- Neon, 14- Shelltoes and Fatlaces;

Cover Art by Rouven Steinke

Recorded at Puk Studios

4lyn´s music is powerful, heavy as fuck and at the same time weird because of some strange feeling that you can listen from the beginning of "Me Vs. Me" like the processed guitar sounds. The sound of the band is extremely modern but they prefer to follow their own path than the one of bands like Machine Head, Korn or others. In fact their trademark are the extremely heavy riffs and the catchy choruses that you can find on each of the tracks here. The recording has really huge sound and that makes 4Lyn much heavier than a ll the new metal bands out there. I would recommend this to all fans of new metal bands.

Favorite tracks: "None of Y All", " 2nd Round" and "Not Like You"

REVIEW: DEAD POETIC - FOUR WALL BLACKMAIL

DEAD POETIC - FOUR WALL BLACKMAIL (Solid State Recs, 2002)

Produced By: Barry Poynter and Jason Magnussen

Tracks: 1- Burgundy, 2- The Corporate Enthusiast, 3- A Green Desire, 4- Four Wall Blackmail, 5- August Winterman, 6- Ollie Otson, 7- Bliss Tearing Eyes, 8- Stereochild, 9- Arlinton Arms, 10- Tell Myself Goodbye

Recorded at Poynter´s Palace

Here we have a band with two sides: the first one is the rocking side with distorted guitars, interesting rhythms and some screaming vocals, then there is the pop side with a lot of melodies in the vocals and catchy choruses. The combination gives you an idea of how Dead Poetic Sound. One thing that surprised me is that there are a lot of screaming vocals and they are really well combined with the more melodic part (I would say that this band is the perfect link between the releases of Tooth and Nail Recs. and the ones by Solid State Recs). You can feel the power of this band in the heaviest parts and then sing the choruses along the songs....I find this release strange and amazing and with a lot of originality on each of the songs (I find really interesting hown they brake peaceful parts with some screaming and heavy guitars!!). This is the missing link !!

Favorite tracks: "A Green Desire", "August Winterman" and "Arlinton Arms"

REVIEW: COAL CHAMBER - DARK DAYS

COAL CHAMBER - DARK DAYS (Roadrunner Recs., 2001)

Produced By: Ross Hoghart

Tracks: 1- Fiend, 2- Glow, 3- Watershed, 4- Domething Told Me, 5- Dark days, 6- Alienate Me, 7- One Step, 8- Friend, 9- Rowboat, 10- Drove, 11- Empty jar, 12- Beckoned

Cover Art by Kris Mc Caddon

Recorded at Rumbo Recording Studio

In the life of the band the first album is what brings you immediate success, the second one is the one that solidifies your fame, but it is the third one the one that decides if you are going to continue being succesful or not. Knowing this, the guys and girl in Coal Chamber have started this third CD with a potential hit called "Fiend". The sound continues being the same as in their first two albums, that is heavy guitars with really fat sound, a clean bass guitar that follows closely the guitars, strong vocals and rhythms designed for the mosh pit or for headbanging. The mix of this album is good but no so different from the one in the first two albums. A third album to continue being among the top new metal bands.

Favorite tracks: "Glow", "Fiend" and "Empty Jar"

REVIEW: SYSTEM OF A DOWN - TOXICITY

SYSTEM OF A DOWN - TOXICITY (American Records, 2001)

Produced by Rick Rubin and Daron Malakian

Recorded at Cello Studios

Cover Art by Mark Wakefield

Tracks: 1- Prison Song, 2- Needles, 3- Deer Dance, 4- Jet Pilot, 5- X, 6- Chop Suey!, 7- Bounce, 8- Forest, 9- Atwa, 10- Science, 11- Shimmy, 12- Toxicity, 13- Psycho, 14- Aerials

Here we have this band that is a sensation in the metal world and here you understand why. In a world full of Korn´s clones and bad copies and power metal repetitive bands here we have a band that is original and really powerful at the same time. Here we have Daron´s guitars that are crushing and at the same time melodic in many places, then you have the amazing Serj Tankian´s vocals which are the heart and soul of System of a Down´s music adding a lot of interesting melodies to the powerful music. Surely you have seen the "Chop Suey!" or "Aerials" video on MTV and many places. Well, here you have fourteen tracks in a similar vein.

Favorite tracks: "Aerials", "Needles" and "Bounce"

REVIEW: KORN - UNTOUCHABLES

KORN - UNTOUCHABLES (Epic Records, 2002)

Produced by Michael Beinhorn

Recorded at Conway Studio

Cover Art by Eric White

Tracks: 1- Here To Stay, 2- Make Believe, 3- Blame, 4- Hollow Life, 5- Bottled Up Inside, 6-Thoughtless, 7- Hating, 8- One More Time, 9- Alone I Break, 10- Embrace, 11- Beat it Upright, 12- Wake Up Hate, 13- I´m Hiding, 14- No One´s There

When Korn first appeared in the scene they were welcomed as the new blood in metal....then came success with their second and third album and then people started to hate them and the whole new metal scene (this is a bag where they have put bands like Korn, Papa Roach and a million more, I don´t know why because they are very different). Fuck em!! I think that Korn brought a new style that is their own to a scene that was becoming stagnant . And they show that they have not lost their energy on this album "Untouchables" which is much heavier than "Follow the Leader" or "Issues" . Here we have all the elmente sthat have made Korn famous but with less catchy choruses and some more interesting riffs. The recording has fourteen tracks and also a multimedia track.

Favorite tracks: "Blame", "Thoughtless" and "Wake Up Hate".

REVIEW: ELFMAN - COMMON SKY

ELFMAN - COMMON SKY (W.A.B. Recs. , 2002)

Produced by Peter Böhm

Tracks: 1- Why don´t you say; 2- Drive; 3- For You; 4- Glory D, 5- By Myself; 6- Hold Out; 7- Sail Away; 8- Inside; 9- Raggedy Ann; 10- Entertainment; 11- Common Sky

Elfman plays modern metal with a lot of new metal influences in the sound and in some guitar riffs. Also here we have a vocalist that knows how to do the melodies that are recquired by this style. I would say that the most notable influence is Korn but here you have many more influences that gives more variations to the final release. The sound of the recording is excellent making the guitar shine (being heavier when they are heavy and extremely clean when they are clean as in the beginning of "Drive"). Here we have a fundamental role of the bass player and the drummer which construct the syncopated rhythms that are the main structure of Elfman´s songs. Also we have heavier than hell guitars which give the metalic edge to the music contained here through orifginal riffs (I like specailly the ones where they throw some harmonics here and there and sound almost mechanical. Fans of modern metal will surely like this.

Favorite tracks: "Drive", "For you" and "Inside"

REVIEW: SLIPKNOT - IOWA

SLIPKNOT - IOWA (Roadrunner Recs., 2001)

Produced by Ross Robinson and Slipknot

Recorded at Sound City Studios

Artwork by t42 Design

Tracks: 1- (515), 2- People-Shit, 3- Disasterpiece, 4- My Plague, 5- Everything Ends, 6- the Heretic Anthem, 7- Empty, 8- Left Behind, 9- The Shape, 10- I am hated, 11- Skin Ticket, 12- New Abortion, 13- Metabolic, 14- Iowa

Here is Slipknot´s latest offering, starting with "People Shit" one of their most extreme songs up to date even with some blast beats in the beginning. I still donm´t know how this guys are so popular, because their sound is not what you would call "easy listening". Well, I think they deserve their success, because they are a great band. And they show how great they are on this new rtecording with a much better sound than their previous one (courtesy of Mr. Ross Robinson). The tracks here have that HUUUUUUGEEE guitar sound that has made Slipknot so famous and those drumming and percussion patterns that crush your mind with their insanity. I think this is one of the releases of year 2001. Favorite tracks: "My Plague", "The Heretic Anthem" and "Left Behind". Contact: www.roadrunnerrecords.com

REVIEW: SUNK LOTO - SOCIETY ANXIETY

SUNK LOTO - SOCIETY ANXIETY (Columbia Records, 2000):

Technical data:

Recorded at Festival Studios, Sydney

Produced and Engineered by Paul Mckercher

Artwork by Simon K.

Track List: 1- Vinegar Stroke, 2- Porcelain Buddah, 3- Lift, 4- Submission, 5- Blunt

Here we have five tracks of modern new metal with a lot of power and some influence from hip hop or rap! This is not a very original band because it makes what nowadays is very common but they do it with conviction. Here the music has all the elements of the style: very fat guitar sound with very rhythmic riffs, hip hop and screaming vocals, a thin sounding snare drum and song structures that can be typical of bands of the style. At least, this guys use some acoustic guitar on "Submission" which I think is the best track here...the more original, even if it is not the heavier. Contact: www.sunkloto.com

REVIEW: AMEN - WE HAVE COME FOR YOUR PARENTS

AMEN - WE HAVE COME FOR YOUR PARENTS (Virgin Records, 2000):

Technical data:

Produced by Ross Robinson

Track List: 1- OK Killer, 2- Refuse Amen, 3- Justified, 4- The Price of Reality, 5- Mayday, 6- Under the Robe, 7- Dead on the Bible, 8- Too Hard To Be Free, 9- Ungrateful Dead, 10- Piss Virus, 11- The Waiting, 12- Take My head, 13- In Your Suit, 14- Here´s the Poison

New Metal, Modern Metal. Call it as you like. This style has become a one on its own, loved by some people and hated by others with the same intensity. Here comes Amen, a band that practices this style but in its most aggressive form as it is shown since the beginning with the short and explosive "OK Killer" . In fact they are not taking influence from bands like Korn, etc. I think they have some Machine Head influences (even though the music is completely different, specially the vocals) because of the guitar riffs that are more hardcore crushing with some artificial harmonics here and there. I prefer the bands that are like Amen to those that have too much hip hop in their music. A powrful album. Favorite tracks: "Refuse Amen", " Under The Robe", "Dead On the Bible". REVIEW: INSOLENCE - REVOLUTION

INSOLENCE - REVOLUTION (Maverick Recs., 2001):

Technical data:

Produced by Sylvia Massy Shivy and Insolence

Recorded at CelloS tudios, Mad Dog Studios and Sound City Studios.

Design and Layout by OG Flemdog.

Track List: 1- Death Threat, 2- Head 2 head, 3- Poison Well, 4- Natural High, 5- Revolution, 6- 1-2, 1-2, 7- Lifted, 8- Game Over, 9- Get Up, 10- Mad Science II, 11-Detox, 12- Sick, 13- Breakdown, 14- Sativa

This intense recording of this band from San Jose, California is a welcome addition to the "new metal" scene. The sound of the band is a mix of bands like Soulfly, Living Sacrifice, Korn, Limp Biskit (also some of the vocals are similar to the ones in The Prodigy and some melodies really twisted like the ones you can hear in a band like Tool) and many more. There are also some reggae and funk influences too. This band is really tight and it looks like that it has been rehearsing and playing live a lot. "Death Threat", the song that opens the CD is a song destined to be a hit. Second song " Head 2 Head" is much more aggressive and I liked it much more because of the strength that pours out of all the song´s parts. There are fourteen songs in this CD, including one experimental/industrial/hip-hop track called "Mad Science II". The band is touring with Soulfly, so I think that those concerts willbe killer...plus it would be good to see Insolence live to see their live act that they tell is very impressive.
