SHROUD OF DESPONDENCY RELEASE NEW SINGLE: "THE SOURCE OF MULTIVERSAL DEGRADATION"

PRESS RELEASE:

Shroud of Despondency is an enigmatic force in the cosmic black metal scene, hailing from Michigan, USA, are announcing the release of their latest single “The Source of Multiversal Degradation”, which comes from the upcoming split EP with black metal stalwarts LanzerRath which is being released on May 10, 2024. Founder and multi instrumentalist Rory Heikkila comments on the track:

“The Source of Multiversal Degradation is a song about the origin of a collection of negative energy(doubt, hate, repression, etc) that forms into a physical entity and then expands out into the universe/multiverse to terrorize whoever it comes into contact with. It was chosen as the single, not only because it showcases the ferocity and diversity of the riffs/vocals, but also because it previews(at the fade out) the clean singing that is also showcased across our two songs.”

Formed in the mid-late 90s by Heikkila, Shroud of Despondency has remained a dynamic and unpredictable entity throughout its existence. With Heikkila on instruments and Ron Blemberg on vocals, the project has continually evolved, culminating in a collaboration with LanzerRath, forging an unholy union of cosmic black metal.

“The Source of Multiversal Degradation” encapsulates Shroud of Despondency's signature style: unpredictable, dark, emotional, and skillfully executed. Heikkila's approach to songwriting is as diverse as the themes explored in the music, ranging from moments of despair to reflections on death, dying, and living. It is recommended for fans of Emperor, Enslaved, and Root.

THE BLOOD OF CHRIST RELEASE "SWORN TRILOGY"

PRESS RELEASE:

Canada’s The Blood Of Christ is an Epic Dark Metal band that has been around since the early ‘90s. To date, they have released three full-length albums, and their new EP “Sworn Trilogy” is set to come out on April 23, 2024. The concept record tells a story about a man who, by means of his own cowardice in the face of oblivion, sentences his entire bloodline to commit evil acts on behalf of abyssal demons for all time. Ahead of the EP, to give fans of black and death metal a taste of what’s in store, they are releasing a lyric video for the single “Oath Breaker”, which they comment on:

“Oath Breaker was the last song we wrote for this trilogy and it might have just turned out to be one of our best yet. It has a lot of emotion and moods and resolves the trilogy in classic death metal, climaxing pit riff fashion. We have a feeling that this song will be a staple in our live set for several years to come and can’t wait to see the reaction to it.”

While the band’s influences favour the shocking approach with lyrical themes that were rampant with gore, Satanism, and often-abhorrent imagery, The Blood of Christ chose to focus on the more abstract and poetic subject matter. Their songs are often rife with human suffering, lust and longing, time travel, astrology, historical battles, and the human struggle for personal freedom. In “Oath Breaker” we see the protagonist flinging himself into the abyss, removing his own scourge from the earth and ending the curse his ancestors placed upon him.

The Blood of Christ’s brooding, unique, and crushing sound has made fans out of underground metal lovers from many genres, creating an appeal that defies genre borders.

Fiends who were raised on the sheer brutality and boundary-smashing efforts of Morbid Angel, or the pioneering and challenging progressive grind-core of Liverpudlian innovators Carcass, the epic and majestic sounds of Viking artisans Enslaved, or even the groove-laden proto-death of Brazilian legends Sepultura will find something rousing and engulfing within The Blood of Christ.

TYTUS RE-RELEASE "RISES"

PRESS RELEASE:

Italy’s Tytus, the powerhouse heavy metal quartet hailing from the depths of the European underground scene, is set to reignite the flames of metal with the re-release of their album “Rises” on April 22nd on Kornalcielo Records. Originally released in October 2016, “Rises” garnered widespread acclaim for its electrifying blend of classic metal influences and modern ferocity. Now, Tytus is geared up to take the metal world by storm, starting with an EU tour with Thunderor in May (dates listed below). The band shares their excitement:

“Our aim is to take the listener through a journey from the first to the last track, without letting him go until the end. For this reason, we like to use drones and different special sounds to link songs together, trying to create the perfect atmosphere to introduce each one of them.”

Tytus started out quite clearly as an NWOBHM band, but they quickly added different flavours to it: some thrash, some speed, a bit of psychedelic, and a lot of rock and roll. Not ones to copycat, they try to coherently add all of their music influences and experiences into their black cauldron, in order to give their potions a distinctively and unique taste.

The band adds that a heavy metal live show is all about energy and attitude, and there are plenty of both. When they play live, they do it like there won’t be a day after like it is going to be the ultimate experience for everybody, and people can feel it. They connect, it ignites an emotional mutual feedback, and… Boom! While rising from the mud of 80's hard rock, the four-headed monster stomps its big feet in the swamps of stoner rock with the urgency of punk rock. Tytus can be seen live on the following dates and is highly recommended for fans of Night Demon, Enforcer, and Skull Fist.

EXSOMNIS RELEASE NEW TRACK: "INERTIA"

PRESS RELEASE:

Exsomnis is an atmospheric and melodic powerhouse in progressive gothic metal, hailing from Montreal, Canada and they are proud to announce the release of their debut single, “Inertia”. This haunting track delves deep into the abyss of existential contemplation, enveloping listeners in a symphony of gloomy soundscapes, haunting riffs, and orchestral grandeur. Vocalist Viky Boyer comments on the track:

“Inertia is one of the earliest songs we wrote and one of the songs I spent the most time writing and re-writing. With every scrap of lyrics and melody, I felt like I was getting closer to the message I actually wanted to put out. I am also very glad that the band was on board with me including some French spoken words in the song, sort of like a mini poem, as I feel like it really completes the vision I had for it. I really hope my experience with the theme of the song will resonate with the listeners, partly for my artistic ego, but also as a sign that I am not alone struggling with those particular feelings of dread when it comes to life choices.”

Formed in 2020 by Boyer and multi-instrumentalist Jeff DeMarco, Exsomnis has evolved from a mere, doom-oriented studio project into a melodic, orchestral metal ensemble. Joined by composer Jon Mohr, drummer Rithiya Kiev, and bassist Ehren Hill, the band's collective talent and creative synergy have garnered widespread acclaim within the metal community.

Exsomnis hints that they are currently working on their debut album, which should come out by the end of Winter 2024 or spring 2025. In advance of that, they plan on releasing a few more singles before setting a launch date. Fans of Katatonia, Nevermore, and Amorphis should especially take note of “Inertia” and keep their eyes on Exsomnis.

OPIUM DEATH RELEASE NEW SINGLE: "OZYMANDIAS"

PRESS RELEASE:

Opium Death is a brutal concoction of extreme metal, sent forth from the suburbs of Chicago, USA to lay waste to metalheads around the world with their first full-length album “Genocidal Nemesis”, which is being unleashed on April 19th. The band comments on the connection between the music and the lyrics:

“Lyrics and music go hand in hand. So far we noticed that as we wrote a majority of the lyrics last, the tonality of the songs and how they flow from beginning to end definitely had us think of certain sentences or phrases to be sung in a relative and consistent manner with the chords and rhythm. Or the lyrics can give off such a feeling of tension or melancholy or whatever that the music now has to serve that purpose or it may feel disjointed if not thought out very well.”

The album features a diverse range of tracks, each offering a unique sonic experience while maintaining Opium Death's signature heavy sound. From the blistering aggression of “Genocidal Nemesis I: Fear” to the haunting melodies of “Shattered” to their latest single "Ozymandias" being offered before the album officially drops, all promise to leave a lasting impact on listeners.

“Ozymandias is about pride and wrath and the importance of keeping them in check during your life against the inevitable decay of information over time. One of our longest songs on the album, we felt it was a track that could benefit from utilizing exotic scales and vocal layering as it comes up later in the song to bring up this sense of immortality to a concept that will forever be ingrained in our human ego.”

Coming from different musical backgrounds, each band member shapes their perception and interpretation of heavy metal. With “Genocidal Nemesis”, they've embraced their diverse influences to create an album that defies expectations and pushes the boundaries of the genre. It is recommended for fans of Dying Fetus, Death, and Gojira.

IMPENDING ANNIHILATION RELEASE "IDIOPATHIC OSTEONECROSIS OF THE FEMORAL HEAD"

PRESS RELEASE:

Technical prowess and a barrage of speed come for you in the new two-track EP “Idiopathic Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head” from Japan’s Impending Annihilation, out on April 19, 2024, on Gore House Productions. This onslaught of technical death metal leaves no survivors and pushes the boundaries of the genre. The band comments on this release:

“These songs represent the pinnacle of technical death metal for us. We wanted to create something that truly stood out in the genre, and so we crafted these tracks with a focus on rapid, intense instrumentation that utilizes super extended-range guitars and fretless bass. It's an example of musical instrument work that will surely shock listeners.”

With the overarching goal of perpetual motion in mind, Impending Annihilation has crafted a sonic experience that refuses to stand still. Describing their vocal approach, vocalist Horizon points out that they don't adhere to traditional lyricism in their music. Instead, they view vocals as instruments themselves, using growls and gutturals in the same way one would incorporate sweeps and tappings into a song structure.

Impending Annihilation strives to deliver performances that captivate and intrigue. Their compositions aim to defy common structures, embodying the essence of technical death metal while embracing the perpetual motion of their musical vision.

Blasting onward at an unyielding pace, full of strangeness and fury, “Idiopathic Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head” is innovative and impressive. It is recommended for fans of Monumental Torment, Archspire, and Entrails Eradicated.
