THE AGONIST RELEASE NEW EP "DAYS BEFORE THE WORLD WEPT"

PRESS RELEASE:

Canadian extreme melodic death metal juggernaut THE AGONIST took the world by storm with the release of their bludgeoning 2019 full-length, Orphans – garnering fantastic critical acclaim and even a revered Juno nomination. With that undeniable skill in tow, THE AGONIST takes another bold step in their musical and lyrical progression with Days Before The World Wept, a brand new EP out October 15, 2021 via Napalm Records!

Inspired by real life experiences, Days Before The World Wept explores a grim, conceptual tale of greed, gluttony, confusion, pain, redemption and hope enveloped in a new level of aggression and cohesive, technical prowess.

Get a taste of the band’s newest music today by watching the music video for brand new single, “Remnants In Time”! The death metal burner brings non-stop energy throughout, showcasing Psarakis’ multifaceted vocal attack as she nails searing highs, guttural lows and magical clean passages. Just like the track itself, its haunting, conceptual music video’s imagery blends emotive and eerie imagery throughout.

Frontwoman Vicky Psarakis says about “Remnants In Time” and its stunning video:

"‘Remnants in Time’ is the first chapter in this story. It marks the final moments of a person's life and the journey that begins right after.

We wanted the visuals to strongly reflect the lyrics and the concept behind them, and transforming me into a demon was key in that. I'm a huge fan of horror/sci-fi and makeup transformations, so working with a professional makeup artist and the use of prosthetics was the coolest part for me!

This song - and video - is all about extremes. Angelic and demonic, fragile and strong, delicate and aggressive. It embodies a lot of what THE AGONIST is about.”

Produced by Christian Donaldson (Beyond Creation, Cryptopsy, Despised Icon), Days Before The World Wept packs several albums worth of skill, songwriting prowess and melancholic lyrical mastery into just five tracks – leaving no stone unturned!

Opening track “Remnants In Time” begins ominously with ghostly piano lines performed by lead vocalist Vicky Psarakis before slamming into a double bass, one-woman choir explosion rife with needle-precision guitar work by deft guitarists Danny Marino and Pascal Jobin. The death metal burner brings non-stop energy throughout, showcasing Psarakis’ multifaceted vocal attack as she nails searing highs, guttural lows and magical clean passages in one fell swoop. The onslaught continues with the rhythmic soundscapes of cry for salvation “Immaculate Deception”, blending fast paced, aggressive verses with haunting, melodic choruses. “Resurrection” reaches into blackened territory before Psarakis splits it wide open – annihilating with her pinpointed vocal attack calling for rebirth. In addition to Psarakis, Marino and Jobin, dexterous drums from Simon McKay and the bass attack of Chris Kells lead the listener through metallic melodic passages topped with emotive poetry before breaking into the next track, “Feast On The Living”. It stands tall with rollercoaster clean and gritty vocals, rapid fire drums and blazingly precise guitar leads and solos, cementing the track as one of the most technically meticulous of the entire offering. Shifting into fifth gear, title track “Days Before The World Wept” brings it all home, beginning with a beckoning acoustic introduction before roaring in with intense blastbeats, polyrhythms and bellowing screams. THE AGONIST pulls out all the stops, showcasing their chops in all directions with breakneck instrumentation and staggeringly superb vocal approaches. Soaring through a kaleidoscope of blistering metal mastery and hopeful lyrical dramatism, the opus dominates as one of the most impressive works of the band’s catalog.

Psarakis adds about Days Before The World Wept:

“There's a lot I could say about this EP and its importance to the band, but does it matter? Obviously, this is the part where I tell you these are the best songs we've put out to date. Honestly - it's a journey. You're either gonna reach the end and want to relive it or you're not... and that's okay. Let the music speak for itself.”

I WAS BORN TWICE RELEASE "NEMIZA"

PRESS RELEASE:

Band: I Was Born Twice

Album: Nemiza

Country: Poland

Genre: Deathcore

Release date: September 24, 2021

Polish Deathcore band I Was Born Twice set September 24 as international release date for their album Nemiza!

The new videoclip "PaGaN Way oF LiFe" streaming now on band's official Youtube channel here: https://youtu.be/V0vZxuCOYtc

Track is the second single from upcoming album Nemiza. Funny yet very controversal, and very vulgar - just like the metal music performer should be. Lyrics are about how metal music changed in time, how it got soften by the view to the point where rappers are more rockstars than rockstars themselves. Metal is about being proud of who you are - metal is about standing out to the masses, not to lick their asses to being featured in shitty morning tv talkshows... We're sick off 'typical metalcore video with strobo colorful lights' without any differences from the other 90 milion bands on youtube... Brutal truth straight in the face of the listeners about sexuality and approach of being trully alive, living as an Pagan in modern world - so simply giving no fucks about being judged by the opinion of the mass. We are who we are - buy it, or leave us as we are, we wish you well no matter your opinion :)

I Was Born Twice - is the innovative band that mix deathcore music with russian hardbass, and also the most active band from the metalcore subgenre on polish scene.

Multiple finalists of the Bloodstock and Wacken festival with over 100,000 plays on YouTube, nearly 4,000 fans on Facebook and almost 2,000 on Instagram.

The band shared the stage with giants such as:

ProPain, Decapitated, Materia, The Royal, Virtue or Shvpes

Currently, the band is preparing for the tour with Slaughter To Prevail planned for October 2021 as their main support.

The vocalist and founder of IWBT - Tom Tatoń - is the best Polish deathcore vocalist and stage x factor. With 15 years of artistic experience, great charisma and a lot of transitions related to malignant cancer, which at some stage of his career permanently deprived him of speech, he developed a new method of speaking and then shouting, based on only one vocal cord. From a medical point of view, he is still speechless to this day. The stubborn leader strives to conquer every scene in the world, shouting out lyrics based on his life experiences, trying to convey a positive view of the world to his recipients, instilling in them the spirit of fighting for their dreams and showing the modern approach of contemporary paganism.

The band's show sings in a neon style dipped in UV lights as well as the western model of playing concerts, i.e. without unnecessary breaks. Each performance is one huge energy bomb, sonically and visually supported by Slavic accents.

IWBT's rhythm section consists of: Tomasz Madzia - Must be the Music semi-finalist and Jerry Hamerlak - ex MirrordeaD drummer. Recently, Maciej Główka, bassist of Gentuza and ex It Follows joined the line-up.

WOLFTOPIA RELEASE "WAYS OF THE PACK"

PRESS RELEASE:

Finnish melodic death metal band Wolftopia is set to release their debut album Ways of the Pack on December 17th 2021 via Inverse Records.

“Hound of War” is the first single by the melodic death metal band Wolftopia, from the Finnish city of Vaasa. Introducing their 2021 debut album, Ways of the Pack, this is a hard-hitting single that grabs you with the first notes and won’t let you go until the last chords have faded. The song begins with a massive double guitar riff, played aggressively by lead guitarist Topi Karhunen and frontman Aleksander Okhotnikov and supported by the wild double bass drums of Tom Israels and growling bass guitar of Tim Reus. The song opens up hard, shakes the listener awake, and drags them into the aggressive, fast and bombastic world of Wolftopia.

Watch and listen Hound of War on Youtube: https://youtu.be/Cf-nKktPn-E

Okhotnikov explains that the song was inspired by the Gothenburg death metal scene, and that inspiration of the band’s western neighbours can be heard in the riffs. “Hound of War” might be one of the more straightforward songs on the album, but it expresses perfectly what Wolftopia is all about: fast-paced, melodic and atmospheric death metal. This is evident from the crunchy double guitar riffs in the introduction and verses, but also from the majestic solo by lead guitar virtuoso Karhunen and the brooding bridge, glowering with power chords and a heavy bass sound.

This brooding aggression might be a surprise for those who look at the inspiration for the lyrics. The words tell of the wolfhound Huan, from the classic J. R. R. Tolkien love story of Beren and Lúthien. The story isn’t only about love, however: it also asserts that destiny is foretold and can’t be denied. And that’s the angle that “Hound of War” focuses on. The threatening bridge and the sorrowful, emotional guitar solo and outro are a representation of this struggle to accept our destiny.
