OFFERNAT RELEASE "WHERE NOTHING GROWS"

PRESS RELEASE:

Danish black/doom metal duo OFFERNAT heads into new territory on their second LP, Where Nothing Grows, set to be released through Indisciplinarian at the end of March. Today sees the release of the sixteen-minute-long album title track as the record’s sole single, while physical and digital album preorders have also been made available.

The follow-up to their 2022 debut album, All Colours Retract, on Where Nothing Grows, OFFERNAT has taken some major leaps in terms of sound and songwriting. While maintaining the focus on longform songs, OFFERNAT draws on a variety of inspiration from doom, sludge, and black metal, which all intersect and cut deeper into the core of the music. As a result, Where Nothing Grows showcases a more focused attitude towards songwriting and invites the listener on an unpredictable voyage through chaotic transitions, punishing aggression, and yet unheard emotional depths.

As two human beings living in an ever-changing society, dealing with difficult emotions is a part of life for OFFERNAT. Through experiencing complete alienation from a world dominated by rich, white men, the subject of being human is often accompanied by feelings of anger, melancholy, and desperation. In seeking an honest expression of themselves, these feelings are navigated in an attempt to convey them into music. Therefore, Where Nothing Grows has a newfound personal honesty to it, portraying not only growth as songwriters and musicians, but also as people.

By exploring these personal aspects, it is the band’s hope that the listener will be immersed in the experience and gain something from it too. In the act of sharing difficult emotions together, both artist and listener can establish bonds of understanding and acceptance. As fans and listeners of music themselves, the members of OFFERNAT are aware of this reciprocal relationship between sender and receiver. Where Nothing Grows is their contribution to help build an emotional safe space and a community that is truly inclusive for all who love the more extreme parts of the metal genre.

Where Nothing Grows was recorded by Simon Sonne Andersen at Full Moon Studio in September 2023 and mixed in the subsequent months by Andersen and OFFERNAT, while mastering was handled by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Obituary, Vastum, Necrot). The album artwork was created by Stefan Thanneur, the album completed with additional art by Rotting Reign, logo by Azeta, photography by Theis Wilmer Poulsen, and design by Nikolaj Borg.

Explore OFFERNAT’S mammoth, immersive sixteen-minute title track “Where Nothing Grows” now at THIS LOCATION.

One of the distinguishing features of Shadohm is undeniably our custom guitars, built to order by our friend Kriz Ramirez from Mexico, at his company - K. Ramirez Guitars. Due to our preference for tuning low (even very low), we knew that Kriz would be the right person to make them, considering his years of experience as a luthier and as a musician.

We opted for a shape that is a variation of the Iceman model produced by Ibanez. All three guitars are 9-string "Spitfire" models, equipped with custom-made Fishman Fluence pickups. The bridge was built from scratch specifically for us by Kriz's team based on the Hipshot bridge because they don't manufacture bridges for nine-string multiscale guitars as a standard. The scale is 30” for the lowest string and 28” for the highest, making them an ideal combination for comfort (it makes catching various peculiar chords a bit easier) and also allowing all tones, even the lowest ones, to resonate without detuning. We chose this setup because we tune down to F# on the thickest string (an octave lower than the classical F# on an eight-string guitar), and the conventional solutions available on the market were insufficient.

As for the wood selection, following Kriz's advice, we settled on flamed maple, while the fretboard itself is made of exotic Granadillo wood, which performs excellently in low tunings.

We aimed for an original look. All three guitars are in a beige shade, we swapped the classic potentiometers for knobs, and the logo on the 12th fret and the lumin laye shimmer in blue under UV light - associations with Dune are entirely accurate. You can see the details in the photos, and already in March, during the upcoming "Black Pasha" tour, you will be able to hear and see live how these instruments present themselves in all their splendor.

ISCHEMIC RELEASE NEW TRACK: "RUST AND BONE"

PRESS RELEASE:

The cavernous depths of death/doom metal have a new echo resonating within them as ISCHEMIC releases their latest single, "Rust and Bone," a foreboding piece from their much-anticipated album, Condemned to the Breaking Wheel, slated for release on April 5, 2024.

Listen to "Rust and Bone" HERE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KDyENB-yJI

"Rust and Bone" is a journey through desolation and despair, encapsulating ISCHEMIC's mastery over slow, hypnotic soundscapes that are both crushing and emotionally charged. This release is a testament to the band's prowess in creating music that not only devastates but also immerses the listener in a trance-like state, reflecting the relentless passage of time and the inevitability of decay.

At the crossroads of death and doom metal, ISCHEMIC stands as a monolith of genre-defining sound. Known for their slow, brooding compositions interwoven with hypnotic soundscapes, ISCHEMIC has carved a niche within the metal community, garnering a dedicated fan base. Their upcoming release, Condemned to the Breaking Wheel, is poised to further cement their legacy as pioneers of deep, introspective metal.

Listeners can immerse themselves in the haunting realms of "Rust and Bone" HERE. The anticipation surrounding Condemned to the Breaking Wheel is a clear indicator of the impact ISCHEMIC intends to make, with "Rust and Bone" serving as a mere glimpse into the epic odyssey that awaits.

About ISCHEMIC:

In the shadowy catacombs of Toronto in 2012, ISCHEMIC was formed by vocalist Isabelle T and guitarist Adam K. Their mission was clear: to end the drought of local death/doom bands and to offer something uniquely grim and heavy. Influenced by the vile ferocity of death/doom acts such as HOODED MENACE, AUTOPSY, and ASPHYX, and blending it with the melodic gloom of AGALLOCH and PARADISE LOST, ISCHEMIC also drew upon the sonic girth of modern doom acts like AHAB, CONAN, and THOU. The result is a sound that is capable of crushing skulls, breaking hearts, and trampling crypts.

ISCHEMIC's live performances have been a vital part of their identity, sharing stages with bands such as WOE, BLIZARO, ARCHSPIRE, WILT, BEYOND CREATION, BLOOD OF CHRIST, and ISKRA.Their shows are known for their intensity and the emotional depth they bring, showcasing the band's ability to connect with audiences through their powerful music.

The discography of ISCHEMIC showcases a journey through evolving sounds and themes. Starting with Frigid Descent (EP, 2013), the band made their mark with a blend of crushing doom and melancholic undertones. This was followed by All Paths Lead Nowhere (EP, 2016), where they explored darker, more chaotic territories of black and black/doom metal. Stagnation and Woe (LP, 2018) saw the band refining their sound into a cleaner, more focused direction. Then came Ischemic (LP, 2021), which marked a shift towards a more primitive dirge, receiving acclaim for its visceral and pummeling force.

As Condemned to the Breaking Wheel is set to be unveiled, ISCHEMIC is ready to unleash a new chapter in their musical saga. This album not only represents the culmination of years of musical evolution and experimentation but also reaffirms the band's commitment to creating deeply affecting and bleakly atmospheric music. With its release, ISCHEMIC is set to once again captivate and engage fans old and new, proving their enduring relevance and innovation within the death/doom genre.

I AM THE INTIMIDATOR RELEASE "I AM THE INTIMIDATOR"

PRESS RELEASE:

I Am The Intimidator

I Am The Intimidator

Miserable Pyre

8 March 2024

Devised as a means to celebrate the life and achievements of NASCAR racing driver Dale Earnhardt (1951-2001), the new project I AM THE INTIMIDATOR, from Andrew Stromstad, presents a full-throttle, high-speed thrash metal offering.

I AM THE INTIMIDATOR mastermind Andrew Stromstad comments:

"I grew up worshipping NASCAR. there was a fire meme about Dale Earnhardt that said 'turn left for mediocrity, turn right for immortality' and it stuck with me forever.

Originally I set out to make something humorous in nature, but then I watched a few Dale Earnhardt documentaries and found myself as the butt of the joke instead. There was a reason why he was revered and worshipped. He was a man of the people. He defied odds. He destroyed barriers. His ego was not indicative of his influence. He was as real as anyone can come. Once I came to that understanding, it was no longer a joke, it was a tribute to one of the greatest men to ever walk and roll this earth: Dale Earnhardt. And I hope passer-bys understand this outpouring of love."

I AM THE INTIMIDATOR explores a fantasy-based reimagining detailing the final day of Dale Earnhardt's life. Earnhardt died while competing in the 2001 Daytona 500, and ultimately led to changes in safety measures in NASCAR racing. The album's instrumental opener "No Regrets", sets the scene with upbeat rhythms and fast riffs emulating the hype before the race. "Gasoline" builds on the sense of anticipation with high-octane guitars and powerful vocals, while "Eat My Smoke" shifts gear into steadfast instrumental driving rhythms placing the focus on fierce harsh vocals and soaring cleans. A dynamic offering is found in the title track, "I Am The Intimidator". Racing speed and ferocious vocals fuel the fire of this track, showcasing the competitive desire to make it over the finish line and take the win. The dark and somber mood of "I Am Here...Now" and commanding concluding track "Crying From The Abyss" bring the album to a close in tragedy. However, I AM THE INTIMIDATOR ends this story with a bang celebrating the legacy of Dale Earnhardt's life.

Guitarist/Backing Vocalist Richard Clark released the following statement on the decision to cover the song:

"W.A.S.P. embodies so much of what I love about metal, and at that band's core has always been masterful, memorable songwriting. Restless Gypsy has long resonated with me as a great song, and JP [Abboud] and I have been discussing covering this track since we started this band in 2020. We've slightly reconfigured a few of the riffs to put our stamp on the song while prioritizing staying true to the original recording. Matt Ries from Traveler gave us an awesome guest solo on it. Also, Matt Roach gave us an excellent mix and master that perfectly captures the atmospheric elements of the 1980s recording. We intentionally dropped this cover so that we could make a content release prior to the release of our second album. The new album is completely tracked, and we expect to drop it in summer 2024."
