about

For over ten years, Goatblood have established themselves as one of the most bestial and raw Blackened Death Metal acts in the international scene. Hailing from Germany, this duo has been spreading their message of hate, war against abrahamic religion and uncompromising primal violence in a way that is nothing short of a musical Blitzkrieg: pounding hammers accompany blunt and catchy guitar riffs, while demonic growls proclaim ultimate scorn towards the weak. While other bands seek to market themselves with girlish aesthetics and pseudo-intellectualism, Goatblood stay true to the traditional black art of Death and War Metal as known from acts like Blasphemy or Incantation.

To commemorate this truly unholy decade of sonic terror, Dunkelheit Produktionen is proud to present "Blooddawn / Annihilation of this World". This massive double CD set is comprised of two studio demos that once again showcase the strengths of this horde. After three highly acclaimed studio albums, this somewhat atavistic approach seems like the only logical step. Back to the roots of guerilla blackened Death Metal, unpolished raw energy and even less artificial sugarcoating than ever before - only death and hate.

"Blooddawn / Annihilation of this World" should be enough to convince even the last critic that Goatblood pull no punches. "Blooddawn" kicks this set off, immediately setting a tone of absolute hatred with compositions reminiscent of hymns of destruction, which are still reliant on a certain feeling of groove and semi-melodic virtues that make the 26 minutes pass extremely fast. Despite "Bloodawn"'s brutal aspects, "Annihilation of this World" is where the more War Metal type chaos starts. Living up to its name, this part of the set reflects the daemonic magnificence of unhinged destruction. The drums are faster, as are the riffs and the all-round semi-dissonance created with wild solos evokes the feeling of goat-headed soldiers directing their flamethrowers towards this rotten world.

Goatblood's "Blooddawn / Annihilation of this World" is an experience of maximum intensity and violence. Both parts interact perfectly and after this highly active decade of sonic warfare, Goatblood seem to be even fresher and dripping with energy than ever before. In this scene of boring repetition and talentless rip-offs, Goatblood stand supreme and "Blooddawn / Annihilation of this World" is perfect proof for this.

about

Kapala have instantly bombarded their way into the annals War Metal history, since they released their first EP back in 2017. Hailing from the mystical and violent Kolkata, the band perfectly combines all the aspects of nowadays extreme Underground music into one menacing whole. A perfect balance between cacophany and fast, catchy riffing, blast beats that drill their way into unsuspecting ears and guttural commands spewing forth hatred for this world and glorious supremacy. It is with the greatest pride that Dunkelheit Produktionen presents Kapala's new release "Doomsday Requiem".

Clocking at 22 minutes this newest bullet into the head of weakness is technically an EP but still offers more than enough material to satisfy the hungry crowd. After a short intro, "Exodus of Victory" instantly reminds the listener why Kapala are an absolute top-tier War Metal outfit. The sound is deep and crisp, hammering like an army of iron fists mowing down armies of scum. Unlike lesser bands, these Indians present songs full of analogue realness and genuine destructive feel. Absolute war, but always with the right amount of order to highlight the impressive musical craftsmanship hidden under the pitch-black vitriol.

As the title already suggests, "Doomsday Requiem" appears like a call to war, propaganda for the absolute end to all creation. Dark and full frequencies dance like Shiva in Trance while death gods harvest human skulls on ancient battlefields of Indian legends. Utter brutality freely flows between Death Metal and the best structural aspects of Harsh Noise creating a result which is nothing short of breathtaking.

To say that this new Kapala release is mandatory would be an understatement. Not only is this Warnoise at its absolute finest, "Doomsday Requiem" - just as the previous releases by the band - is a release fit enough to tread new paths and define this subgenre. Pray for Annihilation!

about

Fargue is a Swiss/Finnish drone-rock duo founded by the multi-instrumentalists Samuel Vaney (Muhd) and Eeli Helin (Fawn Limbs, Mireplaner...)

Fargue was founded late 2019, after Helin and Vaney had been working together on an ancillary project, and realised that they share mutual interest and passion towards ambient, drone, post-rock, and other forms of experimental music. Not long after discussing about the subjects, the pair decided to pursue their musical ambitions together, and imminently begun the ongoing creation process that some time later harnessed Fargue as their moniker and actualised through the release of their well-received debut EP Phosphène in April, 2020. While the duo has worked on multiple projects before and are currently part of a plethora of them both together and individually, Fargue is an entity of its own; a unique addition to the performers' vastly varied sonic scope.

The foundation for "Ruines, Irradiées" was written and recorded during the first half of 2020, as the duet spent countless hours meticulously crafting and molding the songs together as well as alone in their respective corners of the world. As a result, each of the eight tracks on the album is the consequence of both a thorough composition process and free improvisation, atmospheric but tangible bodies of work further solidified by the inclusion of the session drummer Lee Fisher and his versatile percussions. In its core, Ruines, Irradiées is the demonstration of individual freedom, ebb, and flow, merging into one coherent and vibrant, alluring expression that is simultaneously ponderous but fragile, tangible but distant, and emotionally impactful. Ruines, Irradiées speaks through a primal aural language bereft of words but infused with meaning.

The duo coined the term drone-rock to best describe their vision and ingrained blend of styles, and albeit it might seem elusive at first, it explains itself thoroughly via the process of listening. The slowly evolving and unfolding textures possess a sense of pace and time that evades the standard frames of ambient and drone music, still advancing in a more spacious manner and being less concrete than post-rock or rock in general, hence the peculiar stylistic tag comes to play and aptly suits Fargue's sound.

As for the meaning behind their moniker, Fargue is a French word/concept roughly translating to the singular form of "to accuse/burden", and in nautical terms meaning either the concealment from an assailant, or an object meant to both prevent sailors falling overboard as well as restricting water from entering the vessel. The name can also be seen as a nod towards the French poet Léon-Paul Fargue known for his atmospheric and highly detailed works spanning multiple literary movements, albeit this connotation is hardly a coincidence that presented itself only after the band has chosen their title. All in all, the term can't be summed up to bear a single meaning, but mirrors the central idea of the music itself by being open for unrestricted interpretation.
