Black metal outfit VISERION return with their ferocious new single “Mad King,” the latest track from their forthcoming album Fire and Blood, set for release on January 16th, 2026. The band, known for merging raw black metal with atmospheric and melodic elements, have elevated their sound to new heights with this record.

Formed in Queens, NY in 2020 and solidifying their current four-piece lineup in 2022, VISERION have crafted Fire and Blood as a concept album rooted in the mythos of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones universe. Centered around the rise and fall of the Targaryen dynasty, the album takes its name from the family’s house words and explores the dark history and whispered legends surrounding their bloodline.

“Mad King” specifically delves into the madness and cruelty of Aerys Targaryen II. “Mad King musically captures the insanity of Aerys Targaryen II. We wrote the mood of the song almost as his thoughts. Sporadic and unstable,” the band explains. “This song features our ability to change time signatures and tempos.” Lyrically, it channels the delusions and brutal reign of Aerys II, culminating in his eventual demise. The writing process was sparked when Cris brought in the chorus riff, which was later developed with Tasso contributing the closing melody that inspired a full writing session.

The single exemplifies the conceptual depth and musical evolution VISERION have cultivated since their formation, marking Fire and Blood as their most focused and ambitious release to date.

About VISERION:

Located in Queens, NY, VISERION blend brutal and aggressive black metal with atmospheric and melodic passages in their own distinctive take on the genre. Storytelling is embedded in their musical creativity, highly influenced by the writings of George R.R. Martin and the World of Westeros. The band initially formed as a three-piece in 2020 by Ben Marvilli taking on bass and vocals, Matt Marvilli on drums and John Magnani performing guitars. Subsequently, in 2022, Magnani left and Ben Marvilli swapped out bass for guitar. Cris Valentine also joined on guitar and Tasso Diakov took on the bass. The debut album Natural Selection dropped in 2021, followed by a split EP release with TELOCH VOVIN titled The Iron Age of Kali Yuga in 2023. Now, Fire and Blood is set to emerge on January 16, 2026.

OROMET RELEASE "THE SINKING ISLE"

PRESS RELEASE:

Sacramento funeral doom duo OROMET will release their stunningly immersive second full-length, The Sinking Isle, on November 7th via Hypaethral Records.

OROMET was forged in 2022 by guitarist/vocalist Dan Aguilar and multi-instrumentalist Patrick Hills with the aim of creating powerful music where melody is the focal point, rather than an afterthought. OROMET sculpts towering, monumental funeral doom epics. Transcendent guitar harmonies soar over immense, swirling soundscapes while agonizing vocals howl from cavernous depths. Their self-titled debut captured that vision: an epic exploration of grandeur intertwining a profound sense of beauty with crushing heaviness.

For their forthcoming second album, The Sinking Isle, Hills and Aguilar turn their focus to a darker tone, while still crafting an album that feels like a direct continuation from their debut. Adrift on cataclysmic seas, melody remains their compass – a hopeful light guiding the listener through themes of loss, nostalgia, and pessimism.

Visually, OROMET draws from the paintings of fantasy artist Ted Nasmith, whose work adorns both albums and resonates with the band’s philosophy and lyrical themes. The debut’s covert art reflected their upward gaze; The Sinking Isle’s depicts a darker pessimism. Together, they form a mythic diptych of creation and destruction; longing and loss. OROMET stands at the intersection of sorrow and transcendence. Where some seek to immiserate and drown the listener, OROMET explores the complete nature of sorrow as the band weaves the choke of despair and the lightness of serenity. At times the music flows like a winding stream, and at others it towers overhead like a frigid peak, piercing the clouds.

The band comments, “The Sinking Isle represents a natural progression from our debut. The foundational elements remain, but a lot of new territory is explored that was only briefly glimpsed before. The instrumentation is denser and more intricate, while the climactic moments resonate with greater power and grandeur. Thematically, the album focuses on the inevitability of collapse and the cycles of ruin and rebirth. These patterns exist on both macro/global and micro/personal levels, with each song examining them in different ways.”

In advance of the record’s release, today OROMET unveils first single, “Forsaken Tarn,” elaborating of the moving hymn, “The track is about self-reflection and learning from the mistakes of our ancestors. Much of the wisdom we gain from our elders comes from recognizing the paths that led to their ruin. As we look to the past, we must take care not to let reflection transform into rumination, lest we lose sight of our own path.”
