Basel, Switzerland — January 16, 2026 — Total Annihilation, the thrash/death metal force that has been tearing through the European underground since 2006, have returned with their fourth full-length album, Mountains of Madness , via Germany’s Testimony Records. Delivering a perfect storm of speed, brutality, and technical ferocity, the band cements their status as one of the most ferocious metal acts on the planet.

Born from the ashes of a stagnant local scene, Total Annihilation began as five thrash metal maniacs determined to revive Basel’s underground metal culture. Over nearly two decades, they’ve evolved from raw thrash purists into masters of their own unique Thrashing Death Metal style, blending influences ranging from classic Kreator-era thrash to the crushing force of Swedish death metal.

Their 2023 release Raging Death showcased the band’s ability to fuse furious thrash with old-school death metal, and Mountains of Madness takes that aggression to an entirely new level. Recorded by Christoph Brandes at Iguana Studios in Freiburg, Germany, and mixed & mastered by Ronnie Björnström in Sweden, the album pushes Total Annihilation’s sound into faster, heavier, and more technically sophisticated territory than ever before.
