For anyone who is familiar with the history Chinese BM scene, the name "Borkr" should immediately conjureup a feeling of being lost in a raining autumn forest engraved in those murky dreams of the past --- those landscapes so distinct to the poetic soundscape createdby early Drudkh. This one man atmospheric black metal project has been widely acknowledged as the Chinese answer to Drudkh's legacy with his one and only release "Amber" nearly a decade ago. His second full length, titled "Copper", was recorded shortly after the release of Amber yet never got released in any formats. It was also supposed to be the second part of a trilogy that ended up never happened.

The music in Copper may not match many expectations (especially for those into Amber) due to its downplay of that well executed grandiose atmosphere in its predecessor. Without losing its brilliant magik in those hypnotic and nature-evoking riffs, the sonic world ingrained in Copper is much more ancient and solemn --- one may even call it cloistral ---due to the overall low-fi production and (especially) that amateur spirit behind those sloppy yet sometimes shamanic drum beats: many might associateCopper with those veteran spell-casters like early Urfaust and Lönndom/LIK, and it rightfully does so: those mesmerizing melodies in Amber is still present,but much more desolate and rustic, and in many passages even decade and withered - another somber trail without end. Borkr again did what he's bestknown for --- creating sonic labyrinths inside those endless woodlands andstilled creeks forever trapped in the past, only this time everything vanishedinto the rusted color of copper.

It's an honor that Pest Productions will release this long awaited sequence in the the end of this June! 6-panel digipack CD and limited to 200 copies！Moreover, weshall re-issue "The Trilogy" albums on pro-CD, namely"Cosmogaia", "Parallel Worlds of Sorrow" and "The End of Tumult", originally released between 2014 and 2016 by E.D.I.E.H. which is another main project of Borkr. These three albums were only pressed in avery small quantity on CD-r by the band.

Hailing from the central south of China, The Illusion of Dawn are one of the earliest primitive and depressive black metal hordes prior to the surge of extreme metal across the country. Firmly rooted in the traditional merits of black metal, TIoD inherit the essence of pioneers to continue pushing the self-boundaries in terms of songwriting and recording. Between 2008 and 2012, the band released “Recall the Nightmare” demo, “Hatred in Live” DVD and the self-titled album respectively through different labels. From the energy of agony felt during the demo era through to the solemn grandiosity that listeners can find in the full-length offering, TIoD steadily established their unique identity in the CNBM scene by paying homage to the depth of true black metal. Unfortunately, numerous line-up changes brought the band a great deal of uncertainty. TIoD went into a long hiatus after their only full album saw the darkness of the world in 2012.

The whole earth stopped in 2020 owing to the pandemic, while TIoD started to seek for the lights of darkness by becoming active again. As the early records were only pressed in small amounts and are long sold out, a new compilation entitled “Despair” housed in 4-panel digipak CD will be unleashed shortly. This collection of tracks includes the entire demo 08’ as bonus, plus the representative opus of the band’s early phase, i.e. “Despair”, “Recall the Nightmare” and “Obscene Benediction” as highlights, which reflect the vicious intensity and dark mentality of these sonic executors.

Many have attempted to explore philosophic themes through music, yet just like the human nature they claimed to critique, most often time only lifeless notes and ludicrous narcissism remain.

Ascension, as Vitriolic Sage's highly anticipated debut full length, quite on the contrary, is one extraordinary paradigm in which metaphysical matters naturally entwined with its swirling melodicism, with no excessive pretentiousness, an everlasting spiral where everything is perfectly balanced-music, concept, storytelling, emotions, all genuinely fused together into this 7-track long play of pure riff mass.

Unlike what he has achieved in Vitriolic Sage' previous EP Enlightenment, which was more or less an earnest tribute to the glacial majesty of the 90s Scandinavian scene, the songwriting and overall production on Ascension are much more nuanced and varied, with many hints towards the virulent mélancolie from the foul soils of France, as well as the obscurerites of those Icelandic black hymns, yet retaining something that is still unique per se. This is an album where listeners are truly seized by the ravaging and hellish maelstrom unleashed through its cathartic war cry and glorious melodies: an astonishing consistency from start to finish, while the rest philosophical lyricisms about absurdity and death were devoured and become asone, together with the protagonist who embarked upon this journey of self-destructive salvation, dissolved into the Light Ultimate: and all the rest shall be perished.
