The name HEMLOKK, inspired by the Norwegian word for the Hemlock tree, symbolises nature's resilience and strength. This theme is woven throughout "Hares & Hedges" with tracks that conjure images of hares emerging from their burrows, golden rays of early summer light over tall grass, and hedges transforming from barren to lush green. Inspired by the natural beauty of the forests and heathlands along the Sussex coast, where the artist has lived all their life, the new release captures the essence of nature awakening from its winter slumber.

EP featuring 4 tracks of neofolk blended with elements of black metal and classical piano music.

"Hares & Hedges contemplates the hills on which historic memorials and iron age barrows embellish the lands. Remembering the eras which came before us and evoking thoughts of how we will also one day be a part of a bygone age."

Recorded in spring of 2024 by Æthelheid in Sussex, England.

Album art designed by Æthelheid and handcrafted into a linocut by artist and concert photographer Ben Zodiazepin.

The second EP of Switzerland's Geist Elbereth makes another deep dive into the universe of J.R.R Tolkien. Carefully trying to avoid mediocrity – for they are not the first project to cover the narratives of Middle Earth – the new record goes way back in the timeline and tells the story of the destruction of Illuin and Ormal, the ever glowing lanterns created by the Valar in the early days of the First Spring.

Melkor, the primordial antagonist, sees the beauty that the Valar have brought over Arda and grows angry with it – not only because he fails to craft creation in the same ways, but also because he sees the unbalanced nature of the two lights. He seeks ways to overthrow the order created by his former kin, bringing darkness and death back into the realms of the real, acting similar to mythological figures we know from ancient religions all over the world. The bringer of darkness and death, preserver of the nature of things.
