For over a decade, Garoted has been carving their own path in the death metal underground. While their name may not be as well-known as some of their peers since the band has remained steadfastly independent, releasing their music on their own until now, they still have earned recognition among true devotees of the genre who seek out the most extreme forms of metal. With three full-length albums and several EPs and demos under their belts, Garoted has been steadily building their reputation as purveyors of some of the most intense and uncompromising death metal around.
Now, with the impending release of their fourth album, Bewitchment of the Dark Ages, it’s apparent Garoted has pushed its potential even further and created a significant milestone in the band’s evolution. After six years since the last album, Abyssal Blood Sacrifices and with new vocalist Devo at the helm, the new album showcases the band’s renewed sense of demonic energy and purpose. The eight infernal tracks on Bewitchment of the Dark Ages are a savage death metal assault featuring guitar work which is a blaze of blistering riffs. The drums are a tempest of unrelenting power and breakneck rhythms. On top of that sit the vocals delivered with deadly tight precision yet retaining the raw, primal essence like they were ripped from the throat of some infernal beast.
Garoted’s music has always been demanding in terms of speed and technicality, but with this new album they have raised the bar even higher. Speed and technicality are not the end goal, but rather the tools to achieve the intensity of the band's sound. They are a testament to the skills and dedication resulting in band's ability to create violent music that is both, ferociously instinctive and cerebral. This is not senseless chaos; this is controlled aggression engulfed in infernal blasphemy, honed to a razor-sharp edge.
