MENTAL CRUELTY RELEASE NEW VERSION OF "SYMPHONY OF A DYING STAR"

PRESS RELEASE:

MENTAL CRUELTY have released a new reimaged single taken from their upcoming digital deluxe edition of the album Zwielicht out December 13th. Fans can now stream and watch the visualizer for “Symphony of a Dying Star” (Piano Version) feat. Misstiq”.

Mental Cruelty comments on the new song: We are thrilled to unveil the re-imagined piano version of SYMPHONY OF A DYING STAR, beautifully arranged by the talented MISSTIQ. This rendition brings the song full circle, returning it to its origins as a piano melody, yet with a renewed sense of depth and emotion. The uplifting and cinematic qualities of the original track shine through in this arrangement, showcasing the song’s ability to connect with listeners on a more intimate level. Misstiq's masterful touch breathes new life into the composition, allowing the piano to carry the weight of the melody and reveal nuances that may have been hidden before. This version offers a fresh perspective while staying true to the heart and soul of the song.

Zwielicht (Deluxe Edition) will be available via Century Media Records on December 13!

Across four releases, beginning with 2016's Pereat Mundus EP, Mental Cruelty has woven together a violent tapestry of black metal, death metal, deathcore, and a madness of their very own. With 2021's landmark LP, A Hill To Die Upon(Unique Leader), the German quintet not only set a new standard for themselves, but also the genre as a whole.

Rising from the ashes of personal and professional chaos, Mental Cruelty spent the first half of 2021 seeking out a voice to continue to cement them as an uncompromising force in the German metal scene. After locking in Lukas, the band (rounded out by guitarists Nahuel Lozano and Marvin Kessler, bassist Viktor Dick and drummer Danny Straßer) reemerged bloodied but unbowed, ready to continue their path to becoming an international force.

Armed with new vocalist Lukas Nicolai, Mental Cruelty usher in a new epoch of unlight and grim determination that's at the heart of their album, Zwielicht (translated in English as "Twilight"). Once again working with producer and mixer Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, Ov Sulfur, Signs of the Swarm, The Browning), they've pushed their sound to new blacker intensities forged in emotional riffing, heavy "back to the roots" breakdowns, and epic orchestral arrangements that surpass the already elite standards that have become synonymous with their name.

MENTAL CRUELTY line-up:

Lukas Nicolai – Vocals

Nahuel Lozano – Guitars

Marvin Kessler – Guitars

Viktor Dick – Bass

Danny Straßer – Drums

SARCATOR RELEASE NEW SINGLE: "COMET OF END TIMES"

PRESS RELEASE:

Prepare to be plunged into a maelstrom of aggression and dark energy with Sarcator’s latest single, “Comet of End Times”. Released alongside a lyric video that brings the album artwork to life, “Comet of End Times” is a harrowing journey through apocalyptic imagery and the relentless collapse of all worldly forms. Musically, the journey unfolds through diverse soundscapes, establishing “Comet of End Times” as a defining piece for the album. “Comet of End Times is where the dynamics we like to work with become the most present, especially within a song itself. It throws you around between different soundscapes, shifting from total death metal worship to Sabbath-grooves while maintaining a unique flow to it that ties everything together and makes it work very well. A strong pillar of the album.”

About Sarcator

At a juvenile age of 14-20, Sarcator released their first demo tape, “Visions of Purgatory”, via the American label Redefining Darkness Records in 2019. Just two years later the quadrumvirate got nominated for best rock/metal album for the Swedish music award P3 Guld with their 2020’s self-titled debut release for the same label. After releasing their 2nd album, “Alkahest”, via Black Lion Records in 2022, Sarcator finally got a proper chance to play live, captivating crowds with their intense, blackened live shows. With their current line-up fully committed to the band despite their young age (all members are between 19 and 25) it was time for them to record their 3rd album, which still features previous guitarist Emil Eriksson. Shortly after signing a new worldwide deal with Century Media Records and heading out on a debut European tour supporting Hellripper and Cloak, Sarcator will be releasing “Swarming Angels & Flies” on January 17th, 2025. With plenty of live activity in support of the upcoming album, Sarcator are already at the forefront of an emergent, highly determined new generation of Scandinavian extreme metal bands and ready to take the rest of the world by storm soon too...

IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT RELEASE NEW TRACK: "HOTEL SPHYNX"

PRESS RELEASE:

Avantgarde metal trio Imperial Triumphant has released a new single with an accompanying video: "Hotel Sphinx". Taken from their upcoming sixth full-length, Goldstar (set for a 2025 release via Century Media Records), "Hotel Sphinx" can be streamed now here; watch the video (directed by the band's own Steve Blanco) here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnNHaH2kfkE

Imperial Triumphant comments: "The 'Entertainer extraordinaire' leads a gullible audience through the sinister halls of the 'Hotel Sphinx'. Behind the lights, cameras, and endless action lies a disturbing undercurrent—where power is fed by the innocence of youth. The lines between entertainment, initiation, and exploitation blur as a conspiracy of silence reigns in the 'Illuminated Valley of the Kings', where political celebrity celebrates death. Rites of passage too dark to speak, promising false salvation in a world where the show never ends."

Equally rooted in eclectic black metal, the most claustrophobic notions of free jazz, and the concept of urban cityscapes as canyons of horror, Imperial Triumphant's signature sound has set a new standard for the possibilities of extreme music. Fans can expect Goldstar to continue down this sonic path next year, with media already hailing first single "Eye of Mars" as "chaotic, eerily-atmospheric" (Metal Injection). Stay tuned for more details to come soon...

Steve Blanco - Bass, Keyboards

Kenny Grohowski - Drums

SCOUR TO RELEASE "GOLD"

PRESS RELEASE:

SCOUR, the extreme metal collective featuring an impressive lineup of heavy music veterans, including Philip H. Anselmo (Pantera, Down), Derek Engemann (Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals), John Jarvis (Nest, Agoraphobic Nosebleed), Mark Kloeppel (Misery Index), and Adam Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Misery Index, Lock Up), will release their long awaited full-length, Gold, on February 21st, 2025 via Housecore Records in North America and Nuclear Blast in Europe.

Deepening the experience set forth on SCOUR’s previously released EP trilogy, Gold pulls the listener through a blistering vortex of speed, aggression, and, above all, absolute horror. Drawing from a deep framework of literary horror masterworks, Gold guides the listener beyond the realm of death and through the metaphysical anomalies of a disheveled and decaying mind. In-so-which the pall of a savage universe is lifted, an inconceivable puppet master revealed, the remaining self of the listener excruciatingly dissolved, and left asking, “who is it that pulls the strings?”

Musically, SCOUR fuses the raw aggression of black metal with grindcore, punk, and thrash influences, manifesting a sound that honors extreme metal’s roots while pushing it into modern territory. Their minimalist approach is relentless and brutal, perfectly embodying this vision.

In advance of the release of Gold, today the band unveils first single, “Infusorium,” and its accompanying video, filmed and edited by Malcolm Pugh.

Comments Engemann, “SCOUR is storming back onto the scene with our new single, ‘Infusorium,’ a relentless blend of intricate guitar work and raw, unforgiving intensity. This track raises the bar, with more intricate guitar work, and featuring a searing solo by Mark Kloeppel, undoubtedly some of his finest work that cuts straight to the core.

“Inspired by Jon Padgett’s haunting short novel, Infusorium, the lyrics channel the story's eerie depth and darkness, bringing a literary edge to the metal mayhem. As the lead single and first music video from our upcoming full length album, Gold, ‘Infusorium’ proves the SCOUR is fiercer and more dynamic. The SCOUR boys are back, more ripping than ever!”

Forged in 2015, SCOUR quickly made their mark with the blistering debut single "Dispatched." Their first release, The Grey EP (2016), came via Anselmo's own Housecore Records, followed by The Red EP in 2017. In 2020, SCOUR unleashed their most aggressive effort yet, The Black EP, released under Housecore and Nuclear Blast Records and featuring guest appearances from notable figures like Erik Rutan, Pat O’Brien, and actor Jason Momoa.

And now SCOUR elevates their intensity with the announcement of their first full-length album, Gold, which includes a guest solo by Gary Holt (Slayer, Exodus). Recording for Gold began in February 2023 at Nodferatu’s Lair -- Philip Anselmo’s personal studio and rehearsal space -- which saw the band highly engaged in a concentrated effort toward a truly diabolical composition, with Anselmo leading the charge at every turn. One would often find the entire band in the control room in ecstatic debate, meticulously mulling over every blast beat and divebomb. The album was intermittently refined, and lyrical concepts finalized, over the course of 2023 as touring schedules would allow.

Anselmo began vocal recordings in the Fall of 2023 at The Lair. Backup vocal recordings were then executed by the rest of the band in arena backstage rooms over the course of Pantera’s February 2024 tour, where the full band would also thoroughly review the instrumentation mixes. Once the tracks were finalized by SCOUR and mixing engineer Dennis Israel, they were then passed to Fascination Street Studio in Örebro, Sweden for mastering by Jens Bogren.

Despite their relatively short career, SCOUR has performed at some of the world’s most prominent festivals, including Roskilde, Hellfest, Tecate Metal Fest, and Maryland Deathfest. With such a powerful pedigree, SCOUR remains a dominant force in both live performances and studio recordings, and fans can expect even more from them in the future.
