SERMON OF MOCKERY RELEASE "CRIPPLER CROSSFACE MURDER SUICIDE"

PRESS RELEASE:

SERMON OF MOCKERY – CRIPPLER CROSSFACE MURDER SUICIDE EP

LABEL: COMATOSE MUSIC

RELEASE DATE: OCTOBER 7th 2022

Walking a tightrope above a lava pit of uncontrollable rage; tendrils of liquid hate reaching up to you, straining to pull you down into the boiling, all consuming fury. Distorted faces form in the magma, twisted apparitions that mock and beg and plead, tempt and challenge...and as the chemicals scream through your veins you want nothing more than to leap into their searing embrace, to feel the release of the torturous pressure that threatens to tear your mind apart. It would be such sweet relief to sink into the red mist, to let your vision become painted in blood and to tear, rend, beat and destroy, to crush, to break, to batter and kill...

Sermon Of Mockery are an unending scream of desperate anger, a roar of defiance in the face of insurmountable pain and frustration, the sound of the dam bursting and unleashing a torrent of raw, scalding, chaos and emotion. Debut EP Crippler Crossface Murder Suicide, named for infamous wrestler turned steroid fuelled murderer Chris Benoit, explodes in an onslaught of violence from the very first second of opening track ‘The Snakehead Epidemic’. Blast beats fall like a rain of hammer blows from the fists of Ukrainian skin-beater Lev Kurgansky (Horror God, Ezophogothmia, ex-Fleshgore etc) while the riffs thrash and twist like demented serpents. The inhuman voice of renowned front man Johnny Paoline (Mortal Decay) vomits bile and blood in an acidic shower over the four ghastly aural deformities that comprise this release of utter brutality and disorientating carnage. By the time the wild insanity and freakish complexities of ‘Dr. Heiter’s Creation’ have finally fallen silent listeners will be left in a state of shock. An experience akin to immersing your face in boiling oil, Crippler Crossface Murder Suicide is also bizarrely addictive and you’ll soon be crawling back on broken limbs for another ride on this horror train of extremity.

A tsunami of savagery of titanic proportions Sermon Of Mockery were never going to escape the all seeing eye of Comatose Music – and the world’s premier purveyors of musical devastation will unleash Crippler Crossface Murder Suicide on October 7th. Once you’ve tasted this feast of ferocity, this banquet of torture and confusion there will be no going back. When your senses have been brutalised by Sermon Of Mockery nothing else will ever seem truly extreme again.

BIO:

Scars of the Flesh is a Melodic Blackened Death Metal Band from San Antonio, TX, created in 2014 by Guitarists Bryan Eckermann (Solo Artist, ex-Wings of Abaddon), Derek Russell and Vocalist Kobey Lange (Cerebral Desecration, ex-Wings of Abaddon). Their debut album Harvest of Souls was released in 2017 to a wide positive online reaction, 20,000+ views on the Youtube stream and many album sales encouraged the members to push the band forward. 2020 saw the release of the second album Reaching into the Void, still crafted by only the three members alone, but a first live show was booked with fill-in members on drums and bass to celebrate the release and finally bring the band to the stage. Immediately after, Covid became a reality, and had prevented much progress throughout the next year and a half. But the work continued, and a new full lineup was soon in place with adding Collyn Rios (Cerebral Desecration, Black Jackal) on drums, and Robert O'Briant (The Hanged Man's Curse, ex-Wings of Abaddon) on bass. Kicking off their return to the stage, was a battle for the Wacken festival in Texas as well as several other local shows. Now in November 2022 they return with their third album In Darkness Alone, featuring five new original tracks as well as four cover songs. Mixing a perfect blend of dark atmosphere, melody and brutality. This new release looks to carve the name Scars of the Flesh into the minds of all...

GALES OF AVALON RELEASE "OBLIVION"

PRESS RELEASE:

Release Date: Sept 23, 2022

FFO: Borknagar, Woods of Ypres, Amon Amarth

Location: Calgary, Canada

Calgary Metal quartet Gales of Avalon are back with their latest effort ‘Oblivion.’ The five song EP is their fifth release and first with guitarist Collin Wo, (formerly of Sacred Ally and Orphan Hammer). ‘Oblivion’ features blazing solos, catchy head banging melodies and GOA’s own blend of Death’n’Roll.

“We tracked drums, bass, vocals and some rhythm guitar at our studio, but our guitarists, Mark Dillon and Collin Wo, did some of their leads at home. Mark did the mixing and mastering, and Collin did all the artwork. We did everything ourselves and we are very proud of everything we put into it” said Bassist/Vocalist James Neill. “Oblivion lands somewhere between Deep Purple and Jungle Rot, we are getting older but we still like our music heavy.” Neill added “Recording over the pandemic, we had lots of time to explore and play around with different sounds and styles. The addition of Collin added a new powerful dynamic to the band, giving us new ideas and critiques that improved the overall sound.”

When asked how this album differed from their previous efforts Guitarist/Vocalist Mark Dillon said, “We experimented with some synthesizer on this recording, mainly to add textures and enhance the harmonies. The writing of this album is a lot more collaborative than any of our previous efforts, everyone in the band was part of the creative process.”

GOA has retained three of four original members since 2007, and 2022 will mark the band’s 15th anniversary. GOA have played festivals such as Farmageddon Open Air, Calgary Metalfest, Loud As Hell , and have shared the stage with heavyweights like Woods of Ypres, Wolf-Heart, Battlecross , and Howl . The band has released multiple music videos, lyric videos, a short horror movie called ‘Ghouls of Avalon,’ along with a 30-minute radio play called ‘Hope,’ in support of their 2017 album of the same name.

GOA shot a music video for the song ‘Purgatory’ that is currently available on their YouTube channel and Facebook page. ‘Oblivion’ will be released on all streaming platforms on Sept 23rd, 2022, and GOA will be playing a EP Release Party at the Border Crossing in Calgary, Alberta that very same night. The first 50 fans that show up will get a free limited edition physical copy of the new CD.

HARVEST OF ASH RELEASE "ACHE AND IMPULSE"

PRESS RELEASE:

SLC Post Metal/Doom/Sludge trio HARVEST OF ASH are now streaming their debut full-length – Ache and Impulse - in its entirety. New Noise Magazine is hosting the exclusive premiere of the album ahead of its official release date, September 23 on Horror Pain Gore Death Productions.

Stream Ache and Impulse now at this location.

Pre-order Ache and Impulse at hpgd.bandcamp.com/album/ache-and-impulse

Pre-save the album on Spotify at ffm.to/harvestofash

HARVEST OF ASH sonically is a meticulous blend of Doom Metal, Post Metal, Sludge, and Hardcore. Ache And Impulse pummels the listener with colossal riffs, spacey interludes, and triumphant resolutions throughout the album's five epic tracks, which clock in at over 40 minutes.

Thematically, these tracks invoke the four stages of a migraine headache to take listeners on a personal journey from self-loathing to self-affirmation. We become ensnared in the morals of broken people (prodrome and aura). These narrow standards stifle our instincts and gifts (headache). Yet, we can emerge from this mental fog and embrace who we truly are (postdrome). Enthralling and devastating, HARVEST OF ASH pushes the boundaries to the extreme while bringing the beatdown.

"Ache And Impulse" was engineered and mastered by Metal maestro Andy Patterson (Sub Rosa, Cult Leader, The Otolith). For fans of Amenra, Black Sabbath, Boris, Cult of Luna, Electric Wizard, High On Fire, ISIS, Melvins, Neurosis, Pelican, Russian Circles, Saint Vitus, Sleep, and YOB

This eclectic sound is little surprise given the band’s origins. It is the culmination of members Grahm Reynolds (bass), Mike DiTullio (drums), and Pepper Glass (guitar and vocals) playing for decades in both East and West coast projects. After they found themselves in Utah, they found each other.

And the experience of creating a migraine-themed album? With a wry smile, they’ll tell you that it’s been one big headache.

PYTHIAN RELEASE "UNDERSTANDING IN LIGHT"

PRESS RELEASE:

ARTIST: Pythian

ALBUM: Understanding In Light

LABEL: Morbid And Miserable Records, Cursed Monk Records

DIGITAL RELEASE DATE: July 29, 2022

PHYSICAL RELEASE DATE: October 21, 2022

GENRE: Sludge / doom / post-metal / noise

FORMAT: CD, cassette, and digital

Prior to the Second Industrial Revolution in the 19th century, the northwestern portion of the state of Ohio was occupied by the Great Black Swamp - a nearly impenetrable mire of filth and disease. Over the course of 150 years the land was rehabilitated, rose to prominence as a manufacturing mainstay, and then plunged into a typical Rust Belt depression. Today, this region, which includes the Toledo metropolitan area, is haunted by ghosts of both eras - empty fields of dried scum and abandoned, decrepit buildings define the landscape. It is also the home of Pythian, a band which is largely a product of its environment.

After forming in the year 2018, the three-piece spent several years crafting a tumultuous sound fueled by the misery around them - sludge, doom, post-metal, and noise all slurred together in a manner both elusive and menacing. The band released their first EP The Great Silence in 2019 and followed it up with a three-way split with Bifid Corpse and Surfer James in early 2022. Now their most recent creation Understanding In Light drives their music to its most tormented point yet. Pythian searches for wisdom in suffering and presents their findings across 30 tense minutes and 4 harrowing songs. Each track on this release echoes with the anguish of the area in which it was conceived - to hear this EP is to taste the pain that hangs over their homeland.

Understanding In Light was first released on CD July 29th by Cursed Monk Records. Morbid And Miserable Records will be releasing a cassette tape edition on October 21st.
