When it comes to contemporary thrash, there are few bands that can stand toe-to-toe with Germany's Vulture. Establishing their status with 2016's Victim To The Blade EP and 2017's The Guillotine, then cementing their reputation with 2019's Ghastly Waves And Battered Graves, they now return with the mighty Dealin' Death, one of the most ruthless records the genre has seen. "Take all our key elements - fierce riffing, halftone-shifts, aggressive vocals, huge toms, changing dynamics, horror-synths and classical twin guitar harmonies and cast it in a mould, then you have 'Dealin' Death'," says guitarist Stefan Castevet. "The result sounds a little 'back to the EP-ish' to my ears, yet it contains new approaches that we've never included in our sound so far, like choirs with harmonies."

When it was time for the band to head into the studio, the recording process was handled by two separate collaborators: the album recorded at Monkey Moon Studios in Dortmund by Alexander Stöcker, the guitarist of Stallion, while the production was once more handled by Marco Brinkmann at Hellforge Studio. "This cooperation turned out great!" enthuses vocalist Leo Steeler. "Alex's way of recording and the whole studio atmosphere was pretty motivating and inspiring for all of us. Marco, on the other hand, knows exactly how we should sound and already became literally the sixth member of the band." Working twelve-hour days for ten days straight was pretty grueling, their daily schedule "get up, track, sleep", but the effort paid off. "I think 'Dealin' Death' is the best we've ever sounded. The mix itself is absolutely flawless to my ears," says Castevet. "It's way more direct and less reverb-soaked than its predecessor. It was very important for us this time, to take advice from Marco and make all key elements audible for the listener. The vocals sound piercing, the bass is present, delivering warmth throughout the whole mix, and the guitars have the best sound we've ever had, and the same goes for drums. It's very natural and dynamic, but straight to the point." And now with everything done, the band are eager to get it out there. "We can't wait to get feedback for it, hopefully people will admire it as much as we do! Once the pandemic is over, we also can't wait to play shows and even tour again."

LIGATURE MARKS RELEASE "SET OCEANS ON FIRE"

PRESS RELEASE:

Ligature Marks

Set Oceans On Fire (Deluxe Edition)

Self released

11 June 2021

Portland Oregon's LIGATURE MARKS (featuring members of 36 Crazyfists and Vintersea) will release a deluxe edition of their debut album "Set Oceans on Fire" on June 11th, 2021. The album will contain two new tracks and be available exclusively on Bandcamp.

Vocalist Benjamin Charles commented, "We are really excited about this release of “Set Oceans on Fire”. It’s been a long road to get to this point and the last year certainly provided no shortage of obstacles. One thing that seems evident is that chaos can often times be a catalyst for inspiration and that seemed to be the case for us. We stuck to our goal of writing a ton of new music and managed to shoot a music video for every single song we’ve released. Being isolated with the world at a standstill over the last year the band has really had a chance to developed our own sound and we figured out how to create really good art together, but we absolutely can’t wait to get back out there."

Pre-order the album and listen to the first single "Noise In the Signal" featuring Ian Fike of It Prevails here: https://ligaturemarks.bandcamp.com/album/set-oceans-on-fire-deluxe-edition

About Ligature Marks:

Ligature Marks is an American metal band from Portland, Oregon formed in 2017.  Ligature Marks’ lineup is made up of some of the Pacific Northwest’s most hailed underground and established musicians, including members of 36 Crazyfists and Vintersea. Their unsigned debut album, Set Oceans On Fire, earned them incredible popularity in the Pacific Northwest; with them being specifically chosen to perform with bands such as: Gojira, Soulfly, Unearth and Skinlab.

At first glance the band's musical style could likely fall under the blanket statement of Metalcore. Dig a little deeper and you’ll uncover depths of influences ranging from progressive metal to hardcore, and from punk to straight forward heavy metal. The pallet of guitar styles the Whinnery brothers have in their arsenal lay down brutal and melodic textures, equally haunting and beautiful as it is ruthless and destructive. Backed by the unforgivingly savage rhythm section of Dave Keller and Kyle Baltus, the perfect amount of pocket and chaos, groove is everything. The vocals of frontman Benjamin Charles are raw and intelligent. Memorable lyrics delivered aggressively and without apology, equally tormented as they are hopeful.

The albums, performances, and their unique approach to their videos, including interesting release parties in haunted vintage theaters and a state of the art planetarium, have continued to push the band forward in 2021 with an extended re-release of their album Set Oceans on Fire, and an upcoming EP due out later this year.

Ligature Marks consists of: Benjamin Charles, Vocals; Karl Whinnery, Guitar; Kyle Baltus, Drums; Dave Keller, Bass; Josh Whinnery

RISEUP RELEASE "DESTRUCTIVE MACHINE CHILLING´S TIME 3:27"

PRESS RELEASE:

RiseuP are a death-groove metal band from Pszow, Poland whose music pounds straight to the core, leaving you sonic disequilibrium! The three singles from Destructive Machine’s Chilling Time 3:27 are absolutely badass and paradoxically pleasing. "Jim B" offers the hook, “Drink, drink, drink!” emblazoned with overlays of speaking and growl voices that float between the headphones hypnotically. The theme: however, tells us that alcohol makes false heroes who overrate their own abilities. "Rise" features mechanistic super-drumming under an intricate triple-vocal that is masterfully delivered in different ranges of growl and traditional singing. The funk-factor keeps our toes tapping and our heads juking, yet the lyrics suggest that the darkest moments make us stronger only by teaching us to learn to bear scars. Finally, "Prophecy", with its addictive crunch and pleasing guitar tremolo, alludes to scripture and our misinterpretation of both testaments, leading us to hypocrisy and fear as opposed to peace and enlightenment.

Copping a fresh spray of salty froth from the choppy Caribbean sea, Dick Dribbley and Jack Cock wiped the hefty drips from their brows and waved their hands in pride. Blowing in the breeze, and also flapping in the wind, they had earned the right to drop zip and spill seed.

Dick took a chug from Jack’s gluggy martini and smirked, “skin or no skin, all tastes the same to me”. Whipping out his little slug and rolling back the sheets, Jack presented something he’d been saving for a special occasion. “You’ll notice the difference when you garnish it with some of this crust”, he announced.

No one will ever really know who these mysterious fellows were that day, despite flashing their licenses and leaving behind a lot of DNA. As far as Jack Cock and Dick Dribbley were concerned, they left as heroes and bustled on outta there. Illustrious by name, crumbly by nature.
