Within the world of grindcore, the modern era has given rise to many groups that bend, break, and destroy the typical mold in favor of something grander and stranger. This is precisely the arena in which Tampa, Florida-based experimental/technical blackened deathgrind unit Estuarine resides, eschewing the norm while remaining on the cutting edge with each new release.
The solo project of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist "Hydrus, Estuarine has evolved by leaps and bounds since the release of their debut 2013 self-titled album, Estuarine. With 2019's Wisdom of Silenus EP and 2018 full-length, Sic Erat Scriptum, garnering effusive praise from numerous sites and plenty of love from a wide range of extreme metal fans. Now in 2021, Estuarine strikes again with Nyarlathotep, a concise 8-song offering clocking in at just under 10 minutes that loosely flows together as one piece of music. Set for release on March 19th. Cover art for Nyarlathotep was created by The Lung Swarm Art (Torturous Inception, Ecliptic) and the effort was recorded, mixed, and mastered by longtime band collaborator Jamie Amos.
On Nyarlathotep, Estuarine has condensed their wide-ranging sound into small bites, all without losing a single element of what makes the project so special. Grindcore prides itself on brevity, yet nothing can prepare you for the sheer density and insanity that lies within this extremely short release.
Estuarine - Nyarlathotep will strongly appeal to fans of Cattle Decapitation, Cephalic Carnage, Lykathea Aflame, !T.O.O.H.!, Dripping, Gridlink, Napalm Death, Nile, Behemoth, Anaal Nathrakh, Discordance Axis, and Nails.

"Today we're premiering the latest track "Prophecy Denial" from the new 2021 Estuarine album/EP Nyarlathotep. Estuarine is a one-man experimental/technical blackened deathgrind project based out of Tampa, Florida. Started in 2017, CRAWL BELOW is Charlie Sad Eyes’ (When The Deadbolt Breaks, Sentinel Hill, Holding On To Nothing, and Banth) one-man project focused on his New England origins. Releases have ranged from punk-tinged black metal to Lovecraftian acoustic folk. The forthcoming release, 9 Mile Square, is based on the history and legends of Norwich, Connecticut, expressed through post-metal. CRAWL BELOW is not limited in style and expresses its surroundings in a multitude of genres, changing from album to album.

Kitchener (ON) - Progressive Death/Thrash Metal quarter CATHARTIC DEMISE will release full-length album In Absence on April 9. The official video for new single, "For Power," is available at youtu.be/kaKhJL509gA. The single is also available on Bandcamp.
In comparison to the band's self-titled EP, In Absence still consists of the Melo/Prog/Death Thrash Metal elements, but with a more "mature" approach. The overall musicianship within the band improved, as well as the overall songwriting capabilities. In Absence features the same aggression as the self-titled EP, but brings an intense atmosphere with extreme tempos, and brisk riffs. This release heavily carries on the epic melodic sections heard previously, and even going further with more complex song structuring and longer tracks. Aside from the aggressive side of things, hints of experimentation can be heard, showing slower sections, and clean parts as well.

BIO:
The thought of Cathartic Demise came into fruition on October 8, 2017, after high school friends Angus Pike (drums) and Bennett Smith (guitar/vocals) jammed for the first time, and immediately decided to form a group. Bennett had demos previously prepared, (two of the EP songs) and the week after Aaron Tanner would join the lineup, following a few weeks with Taylor Wrobkewski (guitar) quickly completing the quartet. The four rehearsed immensely over a eight-month period landing their first show September 16, 2016. In December of 2018, the band entered into HM Studio, to record the self titled three-track EP Cathartic Demise, released April 26, 2019. For the rest of the year, the band played around Ontario, and in January 2020, Cathartic Demise would begin the recording sessions of In Absence.

Ghostbound was founded as the long-gestating vehicle for the songwriting of Brooklyn-based musician/actor Alec A. Head (ex-Kosmodemonic). Founded when he was still in his teens under the name of Timshel, Ghostbound did not truly take form until 2013, at which point he began to seek like-minded musicians in an effort to complete what he had started over a decade prior, with the goal of creating expansive, cinematic music that drew holistically from all genres. In its formative years, the band was a duo consisting solely of Head and bassist Noah Shaul with the help of session musicians. Ghostbound would expand its ranks in early 2018 to include guitarist Talha Alvie (Skeletonflowers_, The DA Method), and drummer David E. Richman (End of Hope, St. Bastard, Witch Taint) in an effort to play live and solidify its line-up.
Their debut record, All is Phantom, was released to worldwide critical acclaim in June of 2018. At once lush, verdant, haunting, and ethereal, that album represented Ghostbound’s arrival to the greater underground music scene; replete with Head’s soaring, Scott Walker-derived vocals and a cinematic instrumental under-pinning that drew from the wells of both black metal and post-punk, among many other genres. The command of expansive atmospherics and dynamic songwriting continues with the upcoming release of Extended Play For My Sweet Mary Thyme, a mini-LP consisting of a “suite” of songs that are all tied together via an oceanic, maritime theme. Whereas All is Phantom took place firmly on land, “Mary Thyme” is decidedly at sea, by design. Additionally, the EP sees a “loosening of the reins”, as it were; while Head wrote the bedrock of the material, every member had a hand in the arrangement thereof, resulting in a concise, moving, and altogether other-worldly experience.
Extended Play For My Sweet Mary Thyme will be released digitally on March 26, with a vinyl release being put out by Red Nebula on the same date.
