In 2019, MORTAL VISION released their first demo, Madness of Messiah, through Take This Torch Records (NL), which was re-released by us here at Redefining Darkness with a new mix and master in May 2021. It is a blistering frenetic whirlwind of fast and furious riffs, a chaotic battery of drumming, complimented by a vicious vocal attack! If you closed your eyes and listened you would swear it came out of Brasil in 1987.

In February of 2021, the band released a brand new single, Forced Extermination, accompanied by a music video that absolutely upped the ante on what they achieved on their demo just a couple years earlier. The combination of the two got our attention and we knew there was something truly special here...

To put it simply, MORTAL VISION are an absolute force! This is Schizophrenia-era Sepultura meets Persecution Mania-era Sodom at it's finest created by a very unlikely source. While there is an endless sea of Thrash revivalist worldwide, few bands possess the same hunger, fervor, and authenticity exhibited here. These 4 young Ukrainian's have delivered a case study in Thrash Metal with their full length debut, Mind Manipulation. MORTAL VISION have come to chop f*cking heads

SACRIFIX RELEASE VIDEO FOR "LET HIM DIE"

PRESS RELEASE:

SACRIFIX releases crushing fourth new video!

One of the newest representatives of Brazilian Old School Thrash Metal, SACRIFIX, have released their powerfully fourth video and single, "Let Him Die", the first track of their full-lenght debut album "World Decay 19" released in March 21 through the brazilian labels Thrash Or Death Records and Rapture Records. "Let Them Die" tells a shocking story about a person who lives a life full of self-created lies, when he realizes that suicide is imminent, but nobody cares at all.

The video was shooted during pandemic, that's why Kexo (bass) is in his own room, but Gustavo Piza (drums) and Frank Gasparotto (vocal/guitar) were at Rocks Studio, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and edited by Rafael Pacheco (Metal Vrau).

Watch "Let Him Die" here:

https://youtu.be/CzOkVl3CtEM

More details:

SACRIFIX do not intend to be just "one more" band among thousands of others in the Thrash Metal segment in our country, Brazil, but rather to show how to do it in the most intense, vigorous and violent way possible while staying true and respecting their origins, no frills or stardom. Still as a trio, Frank Gasparotto (vocals/guitars), Kexo (bass, Infamous Glory, Death By Starvation) and Gustavo Piza (drums, Infamous Glory), are looking for a second guitarist to complete their ideal formation.

Debut album "World Decay 19" presents a sound based entirely on the rawness and harshness of the more classic side of Thrash Metal with no messing around and strongly influenced by the early works of bands such as Megadeth, Annihilator, Slayer, Sodom and Kreator, and lyrics inspired by war, occultism, social criticism, existential issues, religion and violence.

HATE REVEALS DETAILS FROM NEW ALBUM "RUGIA"

PRESS RELEASE:

On October 15th, Hate will release their new album, Rugia, via Metal Blade Records. For a first preview of the record, the title track can now be heard at: metalblade.com/hate - where Rugia can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

- digipak-CD

- 180g black vinyl (EU exclusive)

- white / black burst vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 300 copies)

- red / black splatter vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 200 copies)

- blood splatter vinyl (EMP exclusive - limited to 200 copies)

- silver / black splatter vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 200 copies)

- silver / black marbled vinyl (US exclusive)

No one combines death and black metal quite like Poland's Hate. With unflinching viciousness and a sense of atmosphere unique to the band, on Rugia, their twelfth full-length, they push the boundaries of their craft even further. "It was clear to me that it should build upon and evolve from our previous record, 'Auric Gates Of Veles' (2019), both musically and lyrically. However, every Hate record stands as a separate journey, and never twice to the same place. You never know exactly where it will lead you," states vocalist/guitarist ATF Sinner, who has led the band since 1991. Fresh blood in the band's line-up also helped contribute to Rugia's unique sound. Pavulon (drums), who had played with the band since 2014, was forced to step down from the band due to serious health issues. The band tapped Nar-Sil (Neolith, Virgin Snatch, Embrional) to take his place. "Working with a new drummer this time around was a fascinating experience for me. Nar-Sil's technique and presence are quite different from Pavulon's, and that definitely comes across. I believe we managed to construct a refreshing new chapter to our discography, composing nine truly sinister onslaughts of pure rage."

The band elected to once again track the album in the Hertz Recording Studio in Poland, and it was recorded, mixed and mastered by the Wiesłaski Brothers (Behemoth, Decapitated). Everything was laid down over about two to three weeks, with longtime collaborator Michał Staczkun providing the ambient elements of the band's sound. The only struggle came about at the mixing stage, where the final character of the record emerges. "Here we encountered many problems, contradictory visions too. The producers had their own idea for the overall sound, which differed from what I had in mind, so we were trying to find a good compromise and it took us a few months." Given how strongly the personality of the record shines through, it is safe to say that the compromise reached was definitely in its best interest, standing as perhaps the best sounding record in the band's long career. Hate is also celebrating thirty years of activity with Rugia, Sinner affirming he is as driven as ever. "Well, the fire is still burning! I'm proud that I have built a band with such strong energy, that's lasted for a long time in spite of numerous line-up changes and obstacles in our way. We are still here and we create with ever growing consciousness and dedication. The energy speaks through us. Honestly, I think of the band as something much bigger and more profound than the individual people involved in it over any given period of time. I believe we create a channel for energies that surpass us."

1914 TO RELEASE "WHERE FEAR AND WEAPONS MEET"

PRESS RELEASE:

Blackened Death/Doom Offensive 1914 Returns with New Album,

Where Fear and Weapons Meet, via Napalm Records

Out October 22, 2021 | Pre-Order Starts TODAY!

Watch the Video for New Single “...And A Cross Now Marks His Place”,

featuring Nick Holmes of Paradise Lost, HERE!

“We are not singing the songs, we are telling the stories!“

(1914)

Ukrainian WWI experts 1914 continue to reflect the gruesome tales of World War I, its soldiers’ fate, their death, fear and feats to be never forgotten, and unleash their new opus, Where Fear and Weapons Meet, out October 22, 2021 via Napalm Records.

Its eleven tracks of pure historic harshness follow up to the band’s sophomore full-length, The Blind Leading the Blind (2018), and debut, Eschatology of War (2015), both highly acclaimed amongst critics, and create a sophisticated variety of massively brutal blackened death metal accented by dramatic and realistic audio soundscapes and disquieting melodies spiced with the approach of sludge and doom!

Massive first single “...And a Cross Now Marks His Place” already marks an absolute highlight, as this stamping outburst features none other than Paradise Lost icon Nick Holmes, whose pervasive delivery matches with 1914’s mastermind Hptm. Ditmar Kumarberg’s (9. Westpreußisches Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 176) vocal harshness.

Hptm. Ditmar Kumarberg on the first song:

“The story behind “...And A Cross Now Marks His Place” totally captured me: This is the real letter, handwritten by the British officer to the mother of a soldier who died in action. This was not a standard form sent in thousands, but more like a personal message. He describes the way her son died, tells words of consolation, and emphasizes how the Crown is proud of him, another victim of the massacre between Empires.“

Watch the bone-shaking lyric video for “...And a Cross Now Marks His Place” HERE:

1914 break into their third offering with the intro “War In”, summed up by final “War Out”, and immediately build a common thread to the previous records. “War In” is the original of the most famous Serbian song of the Great War period, “Tamo Daleko”. Like World War I, the album begins in Serbia and continues on the first track from the prospective of Gavrilo Princip, who assassinated Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife on June 28, 1914 in Sarajevo and caused the outbreak of World War I.

What happens next is an intense, in-depth analysis of historical events, for example – Battle of Vimy Ridge, shameful pages of the British Empire history in the track “Coward” featuring Sasha Boole (Me And That Man), The Battle of Messines on “Pillars of Fire” or the infantry regiment, the Harlem Hellfighters, on “Don’t Tread On Me”. Authentic forces like ambient sonic war samplings transport these stories even further into the present and make Where Fear and Weapons Meet another heavily intense and deep-reaching output that will grant 1914 even higher appreciation than the five-piece is already credited with.

1914 on the album:

“Where Fear and Weapons Meet continues the theme we started on The Blind Leading the Blind - with one major difference: these are the stories about hope where most of our characters are staying alive, becoming heroes, and returning back to their homes. Yes, it is still about fear, death, and senselessness of war, but the hope is the only thing the soldier holds on to. And a good portion of luck as well. Even the album cover reflects this - the man lays wounded, bleeding in the trench, reaching his hand to Death begging for relieve, and Death declines to take him. He deserves to live.

The album starts with the assassination in Sarajevo, leads you through the bloodiest moments of the Great War, and ends up with the monologue on a grave of a young man killed in his first battle. This time we did have even more hard digging into the historical background while making the tracks. We are not singing the songs, we are telling the stories!”

SCATTERED STORM RELEASE VIDEO FOR "NECRONOMICON"

PRESS RELEASE:

Scattered Storm released their debut EP “Oblivion” earlier this July via Blood Blast Distribution powered by Nuclear Blast. The EP is an introduction of much more music to follow from the Texas supergroup that is comprised of seasoned musicians Andre Acosta and Ed Razor from Pissing Razors fame with band founders Jay Arriaga (No Life on Earth, Years of Cold), and Kevin Armstrong (Mondoshawan, Section 6).

From the very tuning of the 7 and 8 string guitars and the very specific tonality, they produce the ambience provided by the keyboards to layers and layers of vocals to really convey Acosta’s sound. This is all finished off with the main focus, that catchy riff and rhythm to have the songs stay on people’s minds and headbanging along.

The EP's main theme is darkness in various situations like social, personal, and the fantasy world. The EP lyrically touches on many social and fantasy subjects, one being their HP Lovecraft inspired track “Necronomicon”, which the band are sharing their new music video, which features clips of them performing live in their hometown of El Paso, TX.

The video for “Necronomicon” can be viewed via its premiere on V13.net HERE.
