Noctalgia is the new single from Lightlorn, and it showcases the band’s signature style and progressive take on ‘cosmic black metal’ with contrasting melodies that oscillate between bleak and luminous. The ferocious yet radiant guitars, along with the colossal bass and thundering drums (supplied by new members Robert and Antonio, respectively) are interspersed with majestic keyboards, piano, and Renwar’s unforgiving vocals. ‘Noctalgia’ (literally night grief) is a new word coined by astronomers and reflects the pain felt over losing our night skies due to light pollution – and this new single from Lightlorn serves as the soundtrack to that grief.
