The Encourado is a mythological figure from the Brazilian northeast, especially from the backlands, described as a large man dressed in leather from head to toe. He appears in legends as a very powerful supernatural vampire figure, often associated with the punishment of those who break promises or disrespect rules. In some versions, he was a cruel man who was condemned to wander the backlands forever.
